are there any good playable vampire experiences in games? ideally itd be in some kind of MMO where its an uncommon playstyle. nothing seems to capture the horror/thirst aspect well.

The only thing that comes to my mind is, sadly, the original tabletop version of Vampire the Masquerade (Bloodlines was based on the Revised edition). Hopefully other anons have better recs

Vampyr, aptly named.
Really good story, dialog scenes, music, atmosphere, choices that actually matter (at some point I got up and started to walk around for 5 minutes thinking about what choice to make during an important quest). And the thirst aspect is a big part of it.
Unfortunately, you are still playing a relatively weak vampire trying to find a cure for yourself. It's not easy to find games that allow you to really indulge in the powerfantasy.

Bumping nearly dead thread.
I want to know the answer to this too

Have you tried Shadow Hearts? I think it comes close enough

I wish this game had sequels with the same style of gameplay.

My problem with vampire games is that almost none of them include immortality of any kind which, along with bloodsucking, is the defining trait of a vampire. It is very hard to make a vampire feel like a vampire if the story only takes place over a small amount of time.
Which is why the best vampire game is modded Crusaders Kings 2 or 3. Immortal, powerful, ruling over a domain, bloodthirsty if you have a good mod.

VTM: Redemption is the only RPG I know that gets this.

You'll probably need to use a mod for the thirst aspect. Unfortunately most developers are too cautious to include such a punishing mechanic. Both Skyrim or VTMB have mods that emphasis the thirst and desperation angle.

meh more like OK
but the dialog writing is melancholic and dramatic in a good way

There are no good vampire games. Trust me, I've looked. Bloodlines is the only one that's even worth mentioning, but most people have played it to death at this point.
