Was Rainbow Six the most unique FPS of the 90's?It spawned a legion of imitators and games who took influence from it later, but it was never really surpassed in its depthful-simplicity. SWAT came close.
>>12906487How is a generically realistic military sim the most unique shooter in any way?
>>12906750>generically realisticI love this pseudo-retarded generalization attempt, as if it means anything.
>>12906857It's realistic in a generic sense. It's a perfectly cromulant statement. (Just kidding, that anon is a faggot)
>>12906857What I mean is that anything based in realism isn't that unique. But go ahead and try to convince me what was so unique about Rainbow Six
>>12906487I remember the first Rainbow Six games I played on PC being incredibly janky. Not exactly a fun time.
>>12906982I don't need to convince you of anything, nor do I care. I'm just amused at your stupid nonsensical response.
>>12906989>being incredibly jankyCommon complaint from shitters that didn't read the manual, and didn't realize that stats affected how AI team mates behaved and blamed their performance on programming instead of their own incompetence.Otherwise nobody knows what you're talking about.
>>12906982>What I mean is that anything based in realism isn't that unique.Realism is realism. There is nothing "unique" about realism, only how it is selectively applied to games. You don't seem to know what you're talking about.
>>12906750>generic realismand here i thought i wasn't going to end halloween with a bang, lmao, what a dumb fucking phrase, holy shit
>>12907017Indeed I've never played it. It looked like yet another military fps which I find generally boring partly specifically because they never feel unique. >>12907023Yeah, it's realism and it's generic looking like most military shooters trying to look realistic. Is anyone going to bother explaining what about Rainbow Six actually makes it unique? If it's different from all the others of the 90's, how so?
>>12907035>If it's different from all the others of the 90's, how so?>all the othersWhat others?
>>12907035>It looked like yet another military fps >which I find generally boring partly specifically because they never feel uniqueAh yes, the refined palate that can only be stimulated by neon playgrounds and cartoon physics. How tragic that some of us still notice the gulf between Battlefield 1942 and Medal of Honor while you’re out here demanding every game come pre-packaged with a unique color of clown paint so your attention span doesn’t wander off.Just leave the thread and keep scrolling past anything that doesn’t look like a Lisa Frank binder exploded. If the mere absence of “fantastical batshit” is enough to flatten every historical shooter into identical sludge for you, then discussing anything with you is less a conversation and more a waste of synovial fluid typing out a response to you.
>>12907008This was more so movement and what not in the game was jittery.
>>12907051Never heard Rainbow Six's movement being described as "jittery". Sounds made up.
What an incredible game. Rogue Spear was even better, also had tons of kickass mods and maps. I loved the wild west one with all the saloons and etc.
>>12906750Skiing absolutely ruined Tribes. Completely destroyed the need to the intended tactics the developers intended, what with vehicles, coordinated group attacks, and point control on the map.
>>12907065>t. slow sluggard who barely figured out how to gear up before xhe ragequit
>>12907057Did you even play the earlier Rainbow Six multiplayer? Characters were pretty commonly jittery as shit. Go look up old gameplay videos.
>>12907073>doesn't know what rubber banding isThat's not jittery movement, that's called 90's/early 2000's multiplayer, zoomer.
