I've tried many controllers I have, including the PS3 dual shock which is specifically listed to work, but when I try to launch RA from the homebrew channel launcher with the controller plugged in, it just goes to a black screen for a few seconds before returning to the launcher.
By the way I did change the input driver from "gx" to "HID". Which makes the wii remote no longer work in the menus. When I plug in a PS3 dual shock controller after doing this the program crashes and returns to the homebrew launcher screen.
Also my controller is a genuine dual shock 3, not a clone.
You don't.
>>12904890The DS3 is not a generic HID device unfortunately. The DS4/5 is on the other hand. You'll need to buy and adapter or use a different controller.
Try this: https://github.com/xerpi/fakemoteI didn't work on mine, but give it a try.
>>12904885What version of Retroarch are you running? Maybe try a very slightly older version than latest?
>>12904885>>12905261>>12905259I fixed it by doing these two things1. Moving my RetroArch install from a USB flash drive to an SD card.2. Reverting RetroArch back to version 1.7.0Apparently version 1.7.1 broke a lot of HID functionality. And for some reason using the two USB ports at the same time is no bueno for RetroArch. I will try using fakemote and report back eventually, as I really want to get either my Mayflash F500 V2 or my Qanba Crystal arcade stick to work with RA Wii without spending money on a USB to Gamecube adapter.
>>12905297Thanks for the update anon, I'll keep that in mind if I ever get around to updating RA on mine
just use the Bliss-Box bridge... you use any controller on the GPA then you plug it in to the Bridge. Now it works on the GC ports.
>>12904885Retroarch on the wii isn't all that great and often crashes in my experience. Unless you really need it for a specific system you're better off with stand-alones.

>>12904885I use a ps3 controller all the time with retroarch. I mostly only play shmups nowadays. You need to get ds4windows to recognize you ps3 controller and in order to do that you need drivers from some guy Nefarious Sofware solutions iirc. It was not hard to set up, but not as easy as just using ds4windows with a ps4/ps5 controller. I would recommend that. The placement of the start and select buttons is the reason I like using my ps3 controller, but you can easily do something similar with a ps4/ps5 controller with ds4windows by mapping the left and right parts of the touchpad. Ask me questions if you need help.
>>12905630Also been my experience. Which is a shame because Retroarch Wii has incredible signal output options for CRTs, but everything is so fiddly that is very hard to find a good workflow when jumping across different emulator cores and have to reconfigure things again slightly.
>>12905893Nigga he's talking about Retroarch Wii, not Windows. Also you don't need DS4windows, nefarious' will cover everything you want out if you just want the DS3, even works with bluetooth.
