This game rocks, i just finished the Swamp level and got my second kiss. Lately games hardly grab my attention but i'm totally hook on this one. The challenge feels just right, always making you keep going rather than giving up.

    Have (You) played Maximo?
    >>
Yes it's great, a nice 3D adaptation of 2D action sidescrollers like noone else did.
Too bad the sequel sucks because nobody in the 00's wanted classic style gameplay anymore, so they opted for "shitty button mashing DMC rip-off".
Maximo simply came out too late for its own good, it would have been a classic had it come out in the late 90's on PSX/N64

I wouldn't say the sequel "sucks", but I agree that "it sucks" that they decided to conform to modern trends instead of fully keeping with what's unique about the first game.

I've 1cc'd it, fun game. The sequel was a huge downgrade.
    >>
i like how many remixes of the G&G theme are in this game

One of my favorite PS2 games

Thank you for this post OP. I am now going to play this game for the next few days or weeks until I beat it and get 100% because that's how I play all my games I try to 100% them all no I don't have autism.

So there is an interview of some of the devs in Retro Gramer magazine #Load 290 if you're interested

    Some things mentionned
    >it's not an official GNG game because Capcom didn't trust gaijins with their series
Pretty fucking retarded and ballsy of Capcom when all they did with the series at that time was nothing, in between a safe handheld game in 1999 and another safe handheld game in 2007.
    >but the devs said that actually freed them of some constraints, such as being being able to focus on sword/shield combat vs projectiles of the original series
    >Originally started dev as an N64 game
    Somehow I always knew it
    >magazines talks like this is the hardest game ever made or something and one of the devs take responsability for the difficulty saying half the players liked that but the others didn't and he failed those
Firstly, that's a false premise, I don't think Maximo is harder than Devil May Cry for instance; secondly, what a faggot but I'm not surprised considering the guy now teaches game design, which would be modern game design, so now he's probably teaching everyone that "challenge=bad game design" like all the modern gaming fags.
    >tilted cameras inspired by Sam Raimi
    >they included the shadows to make the game look more 6th gen after they visited Angel Studios who were doing the same thing
    >claims mixing two different themes (like pirate ship + ice) came from Taco Bell's "Mexicain Pizza"
    >then they came up with things like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions
I always this was because, you know, SGNG did the same thing
    >made a rental deal with Blockbusters and sold 700k units
    >some details about how they worked with Matsushita
    >and finally one of the devs went "we made Dark Souls before Dark Souls"
Yeah he actually went there, damn those modern gaming people are ridiculous
    >>
I tried playing it, but it was super meh so I dropped it on 2nd level or something.

You are right, that's exactly it, the platforming with pits, the simple attacks, secret areas, power ups, it really is a classic 16 bit platformer but in 3D, it's brilliant

When fighting the 3rd boss I forgot you could crouch so I was wondering was I wasn't able to damage him for a good while
