Wait a sec, Square made an RPG that was also a racing game?...is it any good?
>>12903050No.
straight dogshit
>>12903050that just sounds like nfsu2.
If it was good, it would've got an official translation
>>12903050it could be a top10, top5 or even top3 PS1 game, it's big and beautiful, plays great and the vibe is uniquethat said, playing blind punishes you hard, and it's not like you can check a guide here and there, you need to know by heart what you got to do in order to don't miss stuff (even if you know, you may miss it still, it all happens too damn fast)I played it on real hardware but it might be comfier if you can savescum (you need to save a lot in this game)
history shows it was a failed experimentan evolutionary dead-end
>>12903092Kinda
>>12903050Nah
>>12903050Balance is wack, but the rest of it is 10/10.
>>12903050>...is it any good?As is common with JP exclusives, people were calling it a hidden gem for years until it finally got a translation and everyone realized it's just meh
>>12903050Racing's shit
Turns out that the best "Car RPGs" didn't need retarded forced RPG elements to be compelling and fun to play. The entire concept of racing games that start you with a shitbox, reward you for winning races, and let you power up your car to take on more challenging races already lends itself to a natural progression system.Shoehorning in anything more than>Win Race -> Get Money -> Upgrade VehicleIs fundamentally unnecessary.
>>12903050>...is it any good?no
>>12903050It drives weird but the game is pretty awesome and unique. Driving weird has never stopped a Ridge Racer player so I don't think it means it's shit.
>>12906026Hard disagree. Any game that becomes grind money/exploit events with the most efficient dollar per minute payout, then proceed to buy everything from the upgrade menu, is lazy and really shit game design. And yes unfortunately that includes the Gran Turismo template.
