Found a fierst gen GBA for 1 dollar, seller told me it dodnt turn on so i knew it was broken, after taking it apart i noticed the component circled in pic related is damaged, cracked in the middle, does anyone know how to look for a replacement or how to even just bypass it to se eif he console still turns on?Its an inductor i belive.
>>12900479This thing shows signs heavy moisture damage and corrosion. It was only a buck but you're not likely to get this thing working at all, even if you replaced or bypassed the part you specified. Look at the bottom-right section. Someone probably dropped this in a puddle or something and didn't bother doing damage control.
>He spent $1 on trashGOOOOOOOG It's good to see a coomlector get wrecked. He will probably still keep the thing to display on his GBA altar shelf
>>12900479I do totally find trash and start fixing it. I don't really post much about it ever. It is more like a game of Sudoku or something like that. However, sometimes it is like a modern phone gacha game. Because I end up spending money buying bits and pieces fixing said old junk. So my suggestion if you are playing the game I play. Figure it out, also you aren't just bypassing stuff, you are fixing and replacing parts which will get more interesting as you go down the rabbit hole. Also like others said, that thing is wrecked maybe you will be able to get to the point that you can find out that the soc failed, for some obvious reason. Have fun and figure it out yourself.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>12900479you need to do way more than just replace that component. it looks salvageable, though.at the very least you have to thoroughly scrub the whole thing with a toothbrush with ipa and take apart the power switch for further cleaning.
>>12900986>I do totally find trash and start fixing it.If you don't finish fixing it you're just breaking it more champ.
>>12900794The shell alone is worth more than a dollar so he won regardless.
>>12901124When you are fixing things you aught to set a threshold. Once you meet the threshold the best you can do is throw it in junk bin. Maybe you will see another broken mass produced videogame system that is broken and they can be merged. But mucking about with junk is a very common hobby among men and boys.

>>12900479>does anyone know how to look for a replacement or how to even just bypass it to se eif he console still turns on?Before you do any of that spray some contact cleaner into the power switch and slide it back and forth a lot.Your power switch looks very corroded and even on a good Gameboy these switches are known to tarnish and stop working reliably over time, requiring a cleaning to get working again. If you clean the power switch and the battery terminals as well then there is a very small chance that the machine will just turn on as is even with the cracked component.>t. the switch on my GBA SP is getting finicky and I'm just ignoring it cause too lazy
>>12900479Looks shitty anon but the first thing I'd do is replace the power switch
>>12900479Jesus Christ OP. Imagine standing before the aftermath of the bombing of Hiroshima, running to a broken twig on one side of the road and going>it looks like the bomb broke this plant. I wonder if we can heal itYou're not getting that thing to work. It's in bad shape.
>>12903974>You're not getting that thing to work.It doesn't matter. All I care about it the (You)s.
