Why does no one ever mention the obvious connection between this game and Klonoa?
>>
>>12899919
Because in this game you play a fucking baby and the the level design makes the inflating things mechanic annoying
>>
>>12899919
>>12899925
>baby main character
Yeah I don't understand why anyone would want to play as a baby, one of the most repulsive things you can have as the face of your game
>>
>>12899946
you have baby mario in yoshi's island and that's like one of the most critically acclaimed games ever made
>>
>>12899946
Counterargument: the baby looks funny when he's running.

For some reason, Bongs think ugly characters are endearing
>>
>>12899919
Must be because no one but you is that special kinda special
>>
>>12899919
The writer's barely disguised fetish
>>
>>12899989
Actually you play as Yoshi more than you play as Baby Mario
>>
>>12900553
>Baby Mario
They should've just called him Bario
>>
Great and underplayed game.

It is pretty great, but I don't think it's underrated. It's one of the first import games to hit the American Wii Virtual Console and kind of got wide recognition as a "hidden gem" from that. People nowadays into the NES tend to know about it.

I wish Castlevania was conceived of as an FDS game instead of just being pushed to it at the last minute so it could have cool expansion audio music like this

I genuinely had no idea this character wasn't invented for Parodius

Color me shocked

I don't see it. They're platformers? Was there some devs or designers from one team also on the other?
>>
>>12903542
The whole inflating enemies to use for platforming gimmick
>>
>>12900882
It was originally conceived of as a cartridge game?
>>
>>12900873
I kinda thought that the Konami FDS exclusives were some of the go-to Japan-only hidden gem games.

Not confirmed by anyone who worked on it as far as I can tell, but it does seem likely.
>>
>>12903573
What did the child mean by this?
>>
>>12903649
Guess it could be then. Though I guess it is also possible that they originally intended for their game code system to remain consistent between FC cart and FDS disk releases, but ultimately decided to give FDS games their own separate numbering system.
>>
>>12903649
I mean, Konami's Formula 1 Sensation also has a "KDS-XX" product code and that was a cartridge release from 1993. I think people might be reading too much into this whole product code thing, outside of maybe Namco, who used them consistently?

Also, Moreo Twinbee (FDS release just after Castlevania) was "KDN-TN" and its 1993 cartridge re-release (shortly after Castlevania, also) was RC813; so unless there is also evidence that this too was originally a cartridge game, really, anything goes
