Anyway, playing The Given right now. Any clue what to do here?
    >>
    >>12899734
    >Is it less OP than Stone?
Considerably less, definitely not vanilla balance but a fair bit lower.

Does depend on what port it's in though, it's got some port-specific stuff.
    >>
    >>12899738
    >I've tried so many games but I always come back to Doom. It's just so perfect bros.
I still think Quake has greater potential with level design. I enjoy exploring a Quake map once the enemies are dead in mods like AD. Doom only really has combat and while I think it's the better game the lack of true 3D is noticeable in the maps.

    >but less than it would be if the eastern side wasn't full of russians
They may be the far second only to the japanese in the privilege of sporting anime avatars and not getting dissed for it. When i see some vaguely queer modmaker and learn that he's slav/russian, suddenly my perception does a favorable 180 turn. As example: Eye Juice. No way to explain this phenomenon.

    >>12899747
I got far too used to horizontal aiming, that no other fps now feels as pleasing. Nta.

hey guys, i made a strawpoll about what peripherials you use to play doom

    https://strawpoll.com/6QnMQ42Wane

i'm thinking about getting a new mouse but i'm not sure if i should get a wired or wireless one

also curious how many people in this thread don't play with a mouse
    >>
    >>12899757
I was going to say wired mice in this day and age is weird, but there's a touch control option and frankly those people should be sectioned.
    >>
    >>12899747
In terms of gameplay I think the lack of jumping and vertical aiming makes for some great scenarios. Personally I've just never liked Quake but I respect Quake bros too. I too do enjoy exploring maps after beating them though. The last one being Formless Mother (pic rel) for example. Beautiful scenery, even worth noclipping around to see some of the other landscapes.
    >>

NTA, but my first impression was of amateur and tasteless. I dipped from the cyberdemon double-whammy room when it became increasingly obvious that author just slapped shit until it kind of worked. It pulls out with tryhard horror aesthetics.

There was also some 10x10 knockoff that I no longer remember the name of, likewise the cacoward winner. Gameplay-wise it was even more slapdash.
    >>
    >>12899557
Thanks, it's good to hear you enjoy them.
Having a lot of mods I like to look at and pick apart does help, I also took a game design course ages ago. Not sure if that has any bearing on things though.
    >Ferret
I'd be surprised if he makes a mod on his own to begin with, he also fell for the phones are better than mid-range computers bait.
He does have a few credits, but it's just for shitty music from what I know.

    >>12899549
I think I know that anon, actually. He's fine.
I just don't feel like adding reloading would really do much for the rest of the mod.

    >>12899806
NTA, but it's a good challenge in my opinion. If you don't like slaughter or hard WADs I don't think it'll change your opinion, but if you're into either of those you're going to enjoy it.
Failing that, it's got some stupendous presentation. I dare say it looks better than Sunder's best.
    >>
    >>12899856
    >I'd be surprised if he makes a mod on his own to begin with
Far as I can tell he's only done the shitty empty out the floppy disk of midis mod and then fill it with a fuckton of copyrighted mp3s thing.
    >>
    >>12899856
    >but if you're into either of those you're going to enjoy it
To each his own. String of enclosed "arena puzzle" rooms, surface-level understanding of monster roles (put as many types as you can, it will be good challenge), no sense for scale and space. That's all a good evidence for me that mapper has very little talent and imagination.

Isn't author your friend with whom you collaborated and some?

    >>
    >>12899870
Friend is pushing it these days, but yes, I did routinely collaborate with him and provided plenty of music (some bespoke) for his projects prior to this year. I just drifted away from a lot of people and even this general for a good while.
For what it's worth, I do like Treehouse's stuff even though I don't necessarily like him as an acquaitance so there's less bias in my opinion than you might assume.

    >>12899864
I think he also made some shitty AI gen version of that, but I might be wrong. It's not like I have a reason to keep tabs on him.
    >>
    >>12899881
Maybe his output has gained finesse days, but my initial impression soured any enthusiasm for it. Without spelling names of the giants, which may come as unfair, I think Paul977 is the kind of newbie who actually did some good challenge stuff. LunchLunch, someone who I've already mentioned and whose whole motto is "imitation as the best kind of flattery", is also strong cross-example.

Trust me, I'm not just parroting shit I saw on a YouTube video. From what I've learned, if you go to the backer comments section of a lot of Sandy's Kickstarter campaigns throughout the last few years, there's a shit-ton of angry people who feel fleeced. One fella I met on a different forum where we were talking about Sandy's crowdfunding chicanery was a backer for one of Sandy's games that was successfully crowdfunded 6 YEARS AGO and still hasn't come out.

ACL has the same issue, only it happens much less often. Something to do with how Windows kills processes which, in my theory, corrupts the XML write stream. Been chasing it for a while now. Occasionally happens on my laptop but not once has it happened on my desktop in all these years. Will fix it sooner or later, just need to understand what happens exactly. Getting closer.

    >>
    >>12900307
Some web article says that you "flick" the right stick for quick camera movements and for the actual precision use gyro instead. Doesn't sound all that crucial for the classic single-player shooters.
    >>
    >>12900196
    You should.
You can even see in the quote that Romero mentioned, he's talking about coop.
They didn't have a hype moment for deathmatch until the networking was in (a month before release).

"Once the code was working, we decided to test it. I sat at my computer and waited for the game to start. Suddenly, there was another player on my screen. It was Carmack. We started moving around the level, and then we started shooting at each other. It was an incredible feeling. The adrenaline was pumping, and we were yelling across the office. I shouted, 'This is deathmatch!' The team latched onto the name. It instantly articulated the sinister, survival vibe at the heart of DOOM. We were supposed to be testing the game for bugs, but we couldn't stop playing. We played for hours that first night, completely hooked on the thrill of hunting each other down. We knew right then that multiplayer was going to be a massive part of the game’s success."

    Right then.

    >It says *multiplayer* would be huge
It specifically says coop in the press release. That's what the multiplayer was made for. It wasn't until the networking was in that they found it was more fun to shoot eachother. Then they modified the levels for deathmatch - because it wasn't a consideration beforehand.

    >why you're stuck on the "deathmatch" part
Because John's claim is they knew deathmatch would be huge 8 months before release.
There is no quote or evidence that they did, and quotes that point to the opposite, and they literally forgot about multiplayer until a month before release.

I'm not even saying that Sandy's position is totally correct, any conversations they had in the interim could've been about the initial MP concept, not DM.

I played Ashes 2063 and Dead Man Walking, liked them well enough. Gave the sequel a shot and dropped it because I wanted a linear campaign, not the semi-open world thing it had going on.
Selaco and Supplice weren't retro or fun enough and they weren't made by people I wanted to support, so I refunded both.
Didn't care for the Shrine duology and Vomitoreum is kinda neat, I guess, but I didn't feel the need to go back to it.
    Didn't care for Morhta.
    Didn't care for Captain Wayne.
Hedon is...fine. I guess. When I see discussion of it here, it usually is earnest for at most 5 posts and the rest of it, if it continues to begin with, is about the protagonist's massive fucking dick. It's kinda telling that the game is so bland people find more to talk about an actual penis that never shows up in-game than the game itself.
Washington Prime is overwhelmingly fine. The FMVs and overall concept make it a bit more interesting but I see no reason to buy it.

Honestly, the biggest issue with all of these is they're either not fun or there's barely any retro charm to them. To me actually buying them comes down to me knowing who made them personally and wanting to support an aquaintance or friend, and as you might imagine most of my buds are very much content with staying modders instead of developers.
I imagine not being a normie or zoomer grants you full immunity to the YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS IS DOOM factor all of these paid total conversions have and implicitly are built around.

    >divine frequency
Might as well not be retro. I didn't particularly care for it when it was free, I don't think I'll care for it now that it's paid. It does look a mite more interesting than its peers, sorta reminds me of a RPG Maker XP game called Miserere.

Em Essex, the creator of Time Tripper, was originally part of Reelism 2's dev team. The Liminal Space map from that wad was adapted into a secret Reelism map, and Essex composed a remix of the title screen for the trailer and the Boss Rush mode. Then at some point, Kinsie and co. found out about SOMETHING Essex did (I don't know exactly what), who decided to replace all of their content. Liminal Space 2 was replaced with the Block Fort map from Reelism 1, the Boss Rush music was replaced with the normal title music, and they had to redo the entire trailer with the non-remixed music.

its the opposite, everyone is obsessed over the dick while the game has none of that and is actually pretty good.
Its just the game is a bit more complex than the average fps so those who werent filtered by dick are filtered by its puzzles and level design

    >divine frequency
Doesn't look that interesting to me. I don't mind large open maps, exploration and puzzles and they can be great if done right (see the cute blue lady game), but just the hud of this one makes me not interested. Too many numbers and icons and stuff that just make it look way more complicated than it needs to be for an FPS (if they're even wanting to make it an FPS instead of an RPG).

NTA, but that also gets marred by the fact that the exact same noise is used for random ambience and/or it gets drowned out by a different ambient noise. What I don't like about Hexen is that I feel it doesn't adequately deliver on either first person action, nor really puzzling and questing, and they aren't combined well.
If you told me there was a game which mixed the fast paced action of Duke Nukem 3D or Blood, but then with the puzzle solving and character interaction of Indiana Jones & Fate Of Atlantis, that would sound absolutely awesome to me. Obviously, Hexen is nothing of the sort.

Some people do find enjoyment in Hexen, and fair enough, subjectivity and all that, but I always just wished it leaned more towards Heretic.

Actually, what I REALLY wish it was more like is Strife, that's a game I actually really like a lot, and that game doesn't even really have much to speak of in terms of puzzling at all, but it has fun shooting action and an enjoyable presentation and setting, it feels lively and colorful.
Strife also has a bunch of problems in its design, but I like it anyway.

You can't just put a full-blown Myst fuckyou puzzle in a shooter game and expect people to like it. Some did, but most were rightfully irritated.
It's one thing when the whole game is about puzzles and that's your whole gameplay, and the other when the game offers you a good FPS gameplay, and most of the game is about shooting, and then it just takes all of it away from you, and expecs you to do something else, something that has absolutely nothing in common (emphasis on this part) with what you did for a dozen(s) hours before that. There's a world of difference between a puzzle in a puzzle game and a puzzle in an action game. I'm not saying it should be dumb, I'm saying there's a fuckhuge middle ground.

I don't agree with you at all because the first secret map is still about shooting things.
I would have no complaints if the whole E2 had puzzles here and there, and then the secret map was all these puzzles cranked up to eleven, and you had to apply all your gained knowledge to solve the final secret puzzle. But that's obviously too much efforts (non-derogatory, with all my respect to Revae, I really believe it's very difficult to pull out), that's why you don't normally do that in shooter games. Just slapping a single complicated puzzle onto a not-puzzle game is not hard except it's vanilla Doom actions, and is not something that most players will/can appreciate.

This does remind me of Epic 2 and its repeated use of birds and scarabs as motifs. It's not this huge thing, but it does stay in play for the entire megawad (but not necessarily for every map).
    >scarabs mark secrets and goodies
    >birds mark ambushes and monster closets

As a whole though, Epic 2 does have a fair bit of puzzles to it and it's quite well-regarded since it introduces them from the first map and keeps them in play. I can't think of any megawad, solo or not, which is so consistent AND enjoyable when it comes to these things.

It's good and bad with Romero tbf, there's many times when he was clearly 100% right to cheer himself (and the other guys) on, like when he saw the Dangerous Dave sidescroller demo, and because he was a serious programmer he actually understood the weight of what Carmack had pulled off and rightfully wanted them all to aim for the stars with it.

It wasn't all just heated Dai-Katana moments, and in comparison he feels more humble and grown up these days, knowing to restrain himself.

Just beat The Given today. Great wad if you like big maps with lots of details, puzzles and no monsters (literally 0 monsters). All 4 puzzles were fun, but the last one was so fucking obscure that I really hated it. Can't believe it took me that long, but it was enjoyable overall, so I give it a 3 out of 5.

Think I'm gonna finish Back to Saturn X now, which I left off at level 31. Is it me or is it not as easy as I thought?

    >>12899772
Played it on UV with pistol starts on every map. The first two maps are pretty open with a couple of arena fights here and there. The last two are full-on monster arenas, full of cacos, hell knights and cyberdemons. Kinda hard, but gets easy once you figure out the strategy. Gets a bit tiring towards the end, but the mappack is short (4 levels + 1 hub) so it doesn't drag on for too long. I'd recommend it.

Also at the time of this release, the original idea was more tactical than the game ended up. So causing your friends to bite it would just as easily mean "fucking up".

Interesting. I'm currently running this one. I saved it from the trashcan at work. I don't use any of the extra buttons but maybe I should idk. >>
    >>12901354
    >I prefer the regular nailgun to the super nailgun because I feel I can conserve ammo better.
I do that, always trying to save nails for the heavy dudes and using single sg for sniping and wearing down enemies as much as possible (basically I play like playing Thief unless there's no other way.) But generally it's really a good idea to have binds for <every> weapon.

    Mice:
-gaming grade sensor, no office stuff with weird powersaving, atleast PAW 3311 sensor I'd say
    - polling rate of 1000 hz is sufficient but mandatory
    - avoid installing manufacturer software, for DPI most mice have an extra switch and polling rate can be adjusted via HIDUSBF software if there's no other way
    >>
    >>12901302
Wouldn't it be the other way around?

So I don't understand the point of "grid size" in trenchbroom. Is it mostly for adding more vertices on floors and ground or what am I really doing by setting it smaller and is there a standard "one size fits all" thing I should do?

You make it smaller to make smaller things, and bigger to make bigger things. I don't see how this could be confusing.
    >>
Afterglow is kinda fake non linear like Strife. You have choices occasionally about what order to do things but the choice is more do i go to the obvious ez or harder stage first. And then there will be a massive level after both where you finish most of the side quests. I just think recoiling off the game for two hub maps with 4 maps connected to them to be a little strange. Especially in light of Arcane Dimensions or Alkaline etc

Also the ip banning range thing is nuts.

If anyone considers getting this pretty ok, you should turn off the mouse's lights insanely blinding lights, and that means downloading proprietary software or something else and turning the lights off from there. You don't need the software running as it's stay in memory or something like that..
I play with relaxed crab hand style, with my palm not touching the mouse but really close. The middle mouse press is really stiff so you have to use your index finger because you'll struggle with your middle finger, but it's no problem but more importantly feels awesome. The pistol and chaingun feel really good-- your thumb tip is on the pistol and the inside of your thumb is on your chaingun, and you'll never accidently hit one not the other. Binding "open" on the mouse there is kinda strange beast, with you reaching your thumb up to flick it down. If you're panicking you just stick with a keyboard open key because you will flick so hard you flip your mouse damn near over. The BFG requires quite the reach with your thumb and bringing the mouse down into your palm touching your... thenar eminence... with it and it feels like a tremendous thing to and suits the bfg well.
    >>
    >>12901636
forgot the add that the "open" and "fov zoom" key are one in the same and stiff as fuck so its definitely not for everyone. You'd probably be better off assigning it to map or something.

She recovers the Zero Suit and Paralyzer in the Vortex Rikers armory, which you then build Concentration (by damaging enemies) in order to summon the Power Suit. Sorta like Zero Mission.
The Paralyzer takes 1 1/2 seconds to do a single Dispersion Pistol worth of damage, so it sucks balls.
She knows this, so she can hold a single Unreal weapon in her hands and waste fools until she gets the Power Suit back. Think DVA from Overwatch, instead of dying when the suit blows up, you have a very very slim chance of fighting your way back to using it again.

Wired mice are unfortunately kind of leaving the gaming space. Wireless technology has gotten so cheap and good that even budget options have good implementations. So wired mice have become either gimmick products, cheap factory fillers or actual scams. They don't usually come with good internals, either.
PS/2 mice have it even worse. Even though the port itself is low latency, the mice typically have trash internals and terrible sensors. The port is mostly used for troubleshooting these days, if there even is one.

It's tragic that Daikatana was one of the biggest failures in gaming history, but by all accounts that slice of humble pie made Romero into a better man. Though he was never a total dickhead, Deus Ex exists because he basically promised Warren Spector the moon and held to his word. He was also fortunate that it failed in 2000 when you could reasonably reflect on a defeat like that, and not the 2020's where grifting and doubling down comes as easy as breathing to game devs. people in general, but you know what I mean

I didn't even change anything, I just came back to it and it's choppy and the speed is wack. I'm wondering if it was like that the whole time and for my main machine(mint) runs good because of whatever I tweaked and changed. No matter, I'm just gonna trash it all and re-install an OS anyway but I thought it was strange. Definitely user error and I generally have nothing bad to say about ironwail.

I thought about making a wad with that idea. Each level would be themed after a corrupted version of some anime and in the end you'd save some anime girl, who would then follow you arround to the exit and stay with you for the rest of the wad, just following around doing nothing and being cute. By the end you'll have a whole army of anime girls following you around. The ending screen would be that pic of a doomguy action figure surrounded by anime girl figures.
Never got around to it and with the way things are going lately I won't for a good long while. Feel free to steal the idea. Please.

Ironically enough the Gug being a pretty cool part of Lovecraft’s books was actually adapted pretty well into Quoth - classic quake mod and mapping resource, it was progs_dump way before progs_dump, copper and arcane dimensions came out, I am pretty sure shitload of enemies, triggers and weapons in ad, progs and violent rumble were lifted from quoth.
Obviously it looks nothing like what this slopmachine shat out - in Quoth it’s a Quake equivalent of Cyberdemon, massive monstrosity that can Quake(heh) your screen with pounding attacks and demolish everything in its path

His face is literally just a mouth with teeth, so it shouldn't be too hard. I don't know anything about pumpkin carving myself, you might need to get a certain kind of carving knife to chisel away at the teeth, but overall, I don't think it should be too hard.

Oh god, I remember once coming across someone's multi-paragraph essay about how "Pokémon" wasn't a portmanteau of "Pocket Monsters" (you know, the original Japanese name), but instead a reference to some obscure Asian deity that 1) I'm almost certain they made up and 2) wasn't even a Japanese one, which somehow "proved" that the series was evil and satanic.
That was, like, 20 years ago.

    >not paying attention
Ah, good old Herian. Really should try to beat that one of these days.
    >>
    >>12904985
I don't know how many Christians hate on Doom, it was a fad thing for traditionalists to bawl about when it was new and controversial 30+ years ago, but I don't see any serious numbers of younger generations of Christians taking issue with it.

Particularly given how easy it is to look at fiction like this through the DEUS VULT angle, that kind of Christian can feel Doom to instead be inspiring and galvanizing. Again, the core premise is to fight against evil and blasphemous demons from hell attacking god's creation (Earth), so if you get the stick out of your ass over some potential theological niggles (or never even had one, like Sandy), because it's just entertainment, the appeal for these demographics is easy to see.

Also, compare to boomer Christian outrage over rock music, Pokémon, etc, back in the 80s, 90s and 2000s. It EXISTED, but how widespread was the mindset and how much weight did that outrage carry? It did some, you can find many anecdotes of that, but just the same, you can find many of Christian parents back then who looked at that outrage and instead decided "This is obviously bullshit and retarded, come on now."

For whatever it's worth, me and my family are Catholic and we've never been traditionalists.

Fun fact: according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, you are completely in the right to stand your ground and kill an enemy that cannot be reasoned with and has decided you must die. So long as you do so without taking pleasure or inflicting unnecessary harm and suffering upon said enemy, it doesn't go against the 5th commandment.

I could understand being upset by Mortal Kombat's violence now, with how they made it actually harsh to look at, with painfully lifelike suffering and fear, but even as late as MK9, the violence and gore was absolutely goddamn Looney Toons. It's pretty tongue in cheek and absurd, swallowing down a grown person whole and then spitting up a stream of cartoonish bones/femurs, or lifting someone's torso off of their lower body. It's difficult to take seriously and that's by design.

I don't think Doomguy's religion was ever called into question, so judging him from purely the moral system, he's unquestionably a good, no-nonsense guy.
From a religious (specifically Catholic) point of view, I imagine he'd be seen as much the same. He's not pious but at the core of it, he's a warrior protecting God's creation from evil and we have quite a long list of warriors who have become canonized as saints for various reasons. I actually quite like that idea and I imagine nu-Id is terrified of its implications, which is why they went with some gay creation myth that plays with Christian imagery and afterlife on occasion but it's aliens and otherworldly monsters all the way down.

I'm reading the Unreal Official Strategy Guide right now, and it's neat to see what they changed. Vortex Rikers is the same, but immediately in Nyleve falls things are cut. There was a Warlord there originally that would taunt you and fly off. I figure his pathfinding was either too easily intercepted and players would feel like they were supposed to be able to confuse him, or they thought it was too early to introduce him as a spectacle or something.

Was hoping for some expanded lore on the areas, but so far it's just what you see in the game.

It's an interesting post. Gauntlet was distinctly co-op. He didn't say first person Wizard of Wor (which is still maybe the most badass name for a game imo) - a vs game. Then he mentions the moment they got mp running, and the magic that it felt like, eight months after the initial press release. And goes on to mention how uncertain MP as a feature was at the time.
It's entirely possible they were hyped, but cautious.

He does say that Romero has a better memory, but that doesn't mean infallible.

No such thing as a photographic memory, the people who spend their lives believing they have one tend to become a liability later on in life.
    >Romero and Sandy may be presenting a hardline truth for the annals of history when something more in-between is closer to the truth.
Probably is the case for a lot of this shit.

Correct, human memory is fallible, malleable, and suggestible. It can be reliable enough, but never to 100%. Hard documentation is very valuable for this reason.

    >>12905494
    >No such thing as a photographic memory
I'm inclined to agree, Romero has forgotten some exact stuff on occasion. I think he probably actually DOES have better than average long term memory (Carmack seems to agree), but that's not infallible.

    >Romero has forgotten some exact stuff on occasion. I think he probably actually DOES have better than average long term memory (Carmack seems to agree), but that's not infallible.

Definitely not infallible, but Romero also has nothing to gain from lying or making shit up for attention. Meanwhile, Sandy appears to be doing everything he possibly can to remain relevant while his reputation is completely in the toilet for being a crowdfunding thief and more recently becoming a mark for a fucking crypto scam like we're back in 2020.

    Sandy is an embarrassing idiot.

    >but Romero also has nothing to gain from lying or making shit up
Nah he's got crap to sell too, he started doing a lot of this when he was pimping his book out, as well as the weird buying access to versions of Sigil with worse music shit.

There's always something to gain with these types even without factoring in ego shit.

I only ever post for real when I'm working on stuff and try to avoid shitflinging, that's not good for anyone.
I've just been having fun putting together my first proper GZDoom mod, can't sprite for shit but I'm having a good time with making the UI and shit.
Picrel is the currently most realized weapon, it's just a fairly boring machine gun thing. Fire 30 times in a row and you get a firebomb.
Made the UI myself for everything and had a brain blast when I realized I could have a bar that fills up underneath the firebomb icons.
Could still use some work but for something I made entirely on my own in under 30 minutes? Yeah I'm pretty proud of it not gonna lie.

progs_dump was made in particular to give more moddability to users who don't know how to mod. quoth is more of a mapper's toolkit than a modder's. progs_dump has more dna with arcane dimensions than quoth in terms of moddability, as both progs_dump and arcane dimensions are open source. the gug also has a stupid earthquake attack that nobody liked that I'm 60 percent sure violent rumble tuned down.

Speaking of Rekkr, some pointless feedback for Revae, you've got your PISTA0 above S_START so it defaults to the ZDoom pistol sprite, also the offsets are a bit fucked so even if it were in the right place it'd just sink into the floor.

Probably not worth fixing by itself, nobody should be dropping their bow anyway but it was something I'd noticed while fucking about.

I saw John Romero at a gas station convenience store in Ireland around 2019. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn't want to be a douche and bother him by asking for photos or anything. So instead, I asked him what he thought about the REKKR mod rather than bringing up his work on SIGIL.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen knob cans in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Neat. How come I learned of it just now? I don't do much multiplayer dooming, but apparently the Doomseeker was coded by one of their nationals too - named Zalewa. His maps were a torture in polishcp. One guy (forgot teh name), with a couple of abstract maps and a third winter one, sorta reminded me of Lainos. If I were to go by the maps only, I might have bought into the idea that the wad was likely from Russia, as they hit very similar notes. Kinda controversial thought, but maybe they think alike? Not sure. That weird secret with the Vatican Pope perhaps was the topmost memorable thing.
    >>
    >>12906396

I just remembered that he also used non-midi music, but composed all of it himself - which puts him above Lainos.

yah try it out its really fun even if you don't join the multiplayer server. The mind control spell that lets you control the monsters is really fun imo. I also added a ton of weapons from other Quake mods and couple from Hexen 2 I ported over. I added the slicer from Q!zone i cleaned up a bit, the qtest shotgun is gave proper animation, the uzi from shrak i gave a better muzzle flash and added the reciprocating bolt, just a whole ton of new stuff crammed in there.
