Do you prefer games that use your brain or games that awaken your instincts?
Depends on what mood I'm in.If I want to relax with some brews for several hours at night I'll play an RPG. If I have a few minutes to an hour to kill and I'm wide awake I'll play FPS, racing games, and platformers.
Why does it have to be one or the other? I want games that exercise my full mental capacity while simultaneously challenging my input and execution
I was going to say "instincts" isn't really a good word for this but actually it explains why so many people have trouble getting good at action games if they don't use their brains.
>>12899143exactly. OP put the game designed to be piss easy and won by everyone in the "brain" category. Shows what he really thinks about gaming.
>>12899143>>12899147Unga bunga instinct monkey cope, anyone can beat the games on the right.
>>12899156jrpg's were invented because no one could get clears. jrpgs were designed for anyone to be able to clear it, it's brainless.
>>12899172And jrpgs were still too hard for Americans that weren't pc only boomers
>>12899114I enjoy both. I maybe prefer turn-based games a little more nowadays because I enjoy being able to play them at my own pace.
>>12899174too boring. american gamers were more skilled than the japanese. the american versions of games were typically harder. they didn't need a tardproof slog just to pad their clears
I always think of myself as an action gamer but I can't put down detective games.Obra Dinn, Shadows of Doubt, Golden Idol, Ace Attorney, those are my jam.
>>12899184That's just because of the rental market, Americans actually over exaggerate the difficulty of really easy games like castlevania
>>12899114You should try playing games that aren't Nintendo for once.
>>12899195>please PLEASE stop liking Nintendo!!!!!
>>12899196You should try playing games that aren't Nintendo for once.
I'm glad it's really easy to identify shitposters on /vr/.
>>12899201I tried with the dreamcast but it has no games
>>12899205You have to put the games in the console first, it's pretty easy once you figure it out.
>>12899208>2026>not playing the 60 fps widescreen pc remakesUnc
>>12899184>the american versions of games were typically harder.>>12899192>That's just because of the rental marketThose are both modern retcons. Some American games were harder, and some games were made harder for the us, but IME more games were made easier for the US market. Picrel for example, Japan had only one option and it was the "difficult" setting in the US. Some JRPGs were balanced to be easier for the west (though they are usually easy anyway). And famously Nintendo US rejected Mario 2 for being too hard for US kids. Some games had inflated difficulty for the rental market (or to sell guides) but I think it's heavily overestimated how often that actually was true.
>>12899215it's case by case. the jap shitters were bitching about rockman and called it kaizo shit so they altered it. games designed for the west are usually harder>>12899192you are trying to pass off games designed to be easy enough for anyone to clear, as somehow challenging. castlevania was too hard so dragon quest was invented.
>>12899156RPGigger thinks his Excel sheet counts as gaming
>>12899174Japan*gro RPGs were made because their retarded runes made them need computers running at 4K in 1978 just to not have to use furigana in their ching-chon-ese language leaving the computer enough resources to refresh the screen once in a century.Cope.
>>12899242Castlevania isn't hard, Super Mario Bros is harder
>>12899284All of it was too hard for japshitters. In response, Japan designed Dragon Quest to be beaten by anyone. The west made Silver Surfer and Battletoads.
>>12899297>the west made shitty games that suck assWow
