Anybody who knows the drama around Paprium and how much the original developer stole from people (literally millions), might enjoy this upload.

It had previously been posted to my itch io but was taken down subject to a malicious DMCA (not even by Fonzie but by the creator of the MiSTer core who seems awfully defensive of Fonzie).

    https://mega.nz/file/4z52VSrQ#bqhJYoHqNtayAW7jMhB-WCHtp88GiAxuAEaC5Pp7MFo
    >>
Was it even any good? I actually received my Mega Drive cart years ago and never played it.
    >>
It's mid (the AI is really not challenging, at all) and Fonzie sold people on hype alone. Even now there's still websites claiming the game has "CD quality audio" when it's really just glorified tracker music with a few more channels and instruments.

I still wanted to preserve it and developing it is fun.

I'm just flabbergasted by the braindead DMCA take-down I received. Either somebody is grasping at straws or I got "Vibe DMCA'd"

He claimed this piece was copyrighted

    for (u32 i = 0x1802; i < 0x1A00; i++) {
    mb8w(i, 0x80);
    }

It's literally a generic for-loop and, yes, both our implementations use the same integers. I don't think you can copyright numbers and I'm not willing to worsen the code just because he thinks it resembles his.
    >>
That Fonzie guy is a fucking thief, he deserves this
    >>
    >>12898279
Only good use of slop AI, to port the slop eurojank megadrive game.
    >>
    >>12898279
    >MISTer fags DMCA stuff just for the hell of it
So they are spammers AND copyright trolls too? Cool, time to go throw DMCA claims against MISTer cores for code stolen from emulators.
    >checks the NES core
    >still has the copyright info and claim from the guy who made the fpganes original
Oh, this is gonna be easy.
    >>
Fonzie is a fucking idiot and deserves this. I would have paid to play the game on steam like their last release got but his super autism made him want to make it playable ONLY ON RETRO CONSOLES lol

I hope he sees all the posts about his super secure game being cracked and played everywhere. fucking moron

    >Anybody who knows the drama around Paprium and how much the original developer stole from people (literally millions), might enjoy this upload.
    Quick rundown?
    >>
    >>12898540
    > basically the game took forever and had a lot of bullshit stuff for backers (collectors edition thong)
    > Fonzie said game would not ever be emulated due to "Datenmeiter" chip or something, which people scrapped the epoxy off and found out its just over the counter chips.
    > Fonzie would rather spend dev time making a first-launch-troll-game instead of balancing
    > Game never got a steam port despite their last shitty JRPG getting a steam port

The sad thing is I am playing this for the first time and I honestly really like it. Why isn't this on modern platforms???
    >>
    >>12898407
Only some of the artwork is decent, the game itself is just meh
    >>
    >>12898531
I can absolutely respect him for wanting to only design a game for retro platforms, but all the anti piracy shit just to make sure you can only ever play it if you have the original cart and couldn't even extract the rom from it, was retarded, unnecessary work.
    >>
    >>12898546
The thing that sucks, is i like the intro troll game and would be a fun gag to show someone with no idea what the game will be like, and then you literally can never get it to start again after the first time. Frenchie should have made it start during boot up by holding down a button combination.
    >>
    >>12898531
I GUARANTEE you would have pirated it on steam. Who the fuck are you kidding bro.
    >>
    >>12898540
    >>12898546
He also crowdfunded development of the game and after get a few million in funds via PayPal, PayPal flagged it as suspicious as he's gotten 7 figures for a game on 30+ year old hardware.

They froze his account and blocked access to the funds for like well over a year. ALLEGEDLY. That was his excuse but the guys a notorious liar so who knows. The Devs never got paid for months to years of wages due to this.
    >>
    >>12898562
Who the fuck you think you are, nigger?
    >>
    >Paprium
    yawn, buggy unfinished eurojank

    >ported to PC
    already emulated, pointless

    >, N64, DC
that's pointless and not news worthy

    >It's vibecoded, I wanna recoooomp
still won't get you the participation award

    >It's preservation, I swear
yeah yeah, morally-correct piracy, still no attention for you

    >you MUST care about this one, I have DRAMA
    nice try?

    >[insert Fonzie drama here]
that's a refreshing change of pace from random 10 year old localization or Aeon Genesis mention in random recomp thread to convince me a tranny doesn't want me to play a broken port, so I must join the resistance against the big man by subjecting myself to whatever the jeet OP shat out that hour of the day and refuses to address its quality,
but I can still tell you're a tourist who just copied the drama post summary from an old thread

    >I'm giving back justice to the people and the literal millions so that they enjoy it
Those people paid for a game, didn't get it or couldn't play it.
Years ago (NOT TODAY) they got someone who dumped the ROM
then someone else who developed a free modified emulator
then someone else who ported the emulator everywhere and optimized it to run at full speed
then these players played the game, said it's pretty but wow does it suck, then forgot about it forever
The company sold its assets, it won't get any more money from Paprium any time soon
the developer already got enough butthurt for a life time and already got over it back to games

YOU have nothing to do with this outcome, it's the fruit of other people's efforts
You don't exactly get to repackage this and pretend YOU gave them justice

    >Fonzie is a scammer, game is shit and lacks features
Agreed, but why are you even doing this

    >I got "Vibe DMCA'd"
AI slop meets AI slop, why should I care

    >by MISTer fags
Who also do vibe coded buggy emulation cores and love AI just as much as you profess,
but they hate YOUR guts specifically for stealing their emulator code to repackage their emulator as a "port"
    >>
    >>12898524
Do it. I wanna see some drama.
    :^)
    >>
    >>12898591
FPGA hardware emulation at this stage is a mere shadow of its former self.
I still remember the time where FPGA consoles were about "cycle-accurate emulation",
and when decomps and recomps were about "real PC port that runs faster than emulators"
before BOTH became "vibe coded wrappers for already imperfect emulators but you should still support me"

If it takes an angry AI plagiarist for both of them to mutually self-destruct, the world will be a slightly less shitty place.
    >>
    >>12898583
    Hi Fonzie.
    >>
    >>12898279

Who says it's vibe coded? Have you seen the shit that's vibe coded? Their "recomps" are usually just repackaged emulators.

It's retarded to accuse me of AI slop when you've clearly not even checked it out yourself.
    >>
    >>12898604
    >the drama shows must goes on
ok schizo, insincere drama is the one place you're in your element,
have fun reposting old /vr/ posts to defend your fart
you only wish you get to be the second scammer after Fonzie
will still emulate or get computer STDs from other sources, not YOUR crypto wallet

    >>12898553
meh. I can't blame anyone for trying to stop piracy. Only a leftist commie faggot is too dumb and immature to pirate shit without the need ti lie to yourself about it.

I pirate because I want to, I don't think I'm entitled to any of it.

    >Cool, time to go throw DMCA claims against MISTer cores for code stolen from emulators.
Ironically enough, I've had Opus analyze MiSTer code so SAME_CDi could finally have DVC support. No idea if they caught on or not, but I doubt they can catch up with RA's rapid (AI assisted) progress.

    >>
    >>12903067
Thing is, the SN76 itself is also capable of software PCM playback, so if the 6th channel is using up too many resources, there's always the other audio chip Genesis supports. Opus 5.5 recently made a 4-bit PCM player that essentially emulates other audio chips.

    >>
    >>12904957
It's a completely average and mundane beatemup with admittedly nice graphics and sound.

    >>12905975
    That'd rule.

    >>12905994
Yeah. Not bad, but nothing great either, it's preoccuppied with style, which makes it look and sound very good, but gameplay is just nothing special at all.
    >>
    >>12898279
I ordered it years and years ago, I even got an email saying it was on the way. I probably can't even bring myself to play it seeing how I was expecting this to be such a big release. Now you have Shadow Gangs 2 coming out, I think the scene has passed it by, its not rare for homebrew to be 8 MB now or stuff like using the Mega CD.

    >>12904957
    Even Fonzie doesn't care anymore.
    >>
    >>12898279
Most egregious thing about Sloprium was Fonzie prioritizing youtubers for the few hundred or so copies that exist so they can hype the game up for his second batch of preorders that came to be. It was a miracle I got mine but the game is just a curiosity at best there's way better homebrew out there.
