Croc: Legend of the Gobbos coming to the N64 (M64):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc07o8p8g9MModRetro is teasing more games coming to the M64 too.
>>12893342PlayStation sisters... I'm starting to think the N64 might actually win out in the end.
>>12893342Idk who's the best at coping this hard decades later, sega or Nintendo fans
This actually pisses me off as a proud Croc fan. If it was a random dude, whatever. But it's the actual people. Fuck off. These fucking faggotsAre they the first people to try to proft off the slopcomp era, too?
>>12893342We already have a thread speculating on what the other mystery ports might be >>12893049When they announced the M64 I was hoping for more original homebrew games, but in absence of that I think new ports of old games are definitely more exciting than reissues of Western shovelware
>>12893792I didn't saw that thread when I was making this one, sorry. As for what could those game be, i think one of them may be Tomb Raider or Resident Evil 1, I remember seeing someone finally getting OpenLara working on N64 and recently a RE1 port for N64 was releasedhttps://youtu.be/_xRiwy8Z6S0The other two no idea.
>>12893887Yeah, those were my initial guesses even though RE1 and Tomb Raider technically got cartridge ports on DS and N-Gage respectively. It's also possible that it's Crash Bandicoot, that would be pretty noteworthy as a cartridge port and the rights to the game haven't sat with Sony for a long time. That homebrew RE1 port looks interesting but I assume it's just vibecoded, I'd be interested to see a more polished version on par with the RE2 port.
>>12893792RE1Soul ReaverGunstar Heroes
>>12893941Soul Reaver is a great guess, especially if the 1996 game ends up being Tomb Raider
What I'm curious about is that if these games are still limited to 64MB or are they using the new capabilities of flashcarts to run games above that size, also does anyone known if these new M64 carts work on regular N64 consoles?
>>12893734>Oh NO troonsisters, the hecking company sells le weapons. No ethical consumption under capitalism. Buy or cry.
>>12893992Gayga Shiturn
>>12893981All games work on original hardware but I have no idea what the ROM sizes are like. I've heard mixed reports on the rereleased games playing nicely with the M64's overclocking features unfortunately. It'd be nice to have games that work on N64 but are optimized to take advantage of the more powerful hardware when played on M64.
>>12893981>>12894001They should work. I got Xibalba 64, but the cart wouldn't boot on my late-revision console, so I RMA'd it and they sent an updated version that says v1.3 on the title screen. However, after I brought to their attention that the new cart wouldn't save, they sent me a fixed one free of charge. So I have this non-saving Xibalba 64 cartridge because I was basically a beta tester.
>>12893734How do we know it's AI slop? There's N64 dev kits and judging that it's coming out NEXT year and not... tomorrow... they're actually putting time into it.
>>12893734It literally got a remaster two years ago. It's safe to assume they have their original source code and are putting effort into it. Read the development docs. It was planned to be on N64 anyway. That's why all the cutscenes are in-engine.
>>12894085That's a good point. I feel like they might have said they were porting the game to N64 before maybe when the remaster came out. I might be having a false memory of that though.
>>12894082Same thing happened to me when I bought the Chromatic battery pack, it died in my first edition console and they sent me a replacement. Turns out it was an issue with the first editions and they sent me a battery dock free of charge. They definitely have some growing pains trying to mass produce products, but I've been extremely impressed by their customer service. I'm actually curious what their ROM chips look like since all their carts have USB-C connectors for patches and updates.>>12894091This also has me leaning towards the first two games being Tomb Raider and Soul Reaver. Both games got recent remasters and ports to Evercade, M64 seems like a natural fit.
Speaking of N64 ports:https://github.com/BigChat88/N64DarkForcesPorthttps://github.com/BigChat88/N64DukeNukem3DPorthttps://github.com/JackTulli/halo-64I need Street Fightet Super Turbo or 3S on N64
>>12893792Im hoping some unreleased stuff gets finished and officially put out.
how will n64 handle the soundtrack?
>>12894338Seems like finishing up and publishing unreleased games is part of their business plan. There's obvious low hanging fruit like 40 Winks but the dream would be seeing something like Dinosaur Planet polished up and finished.
>>12894356Who's sneakers are they supposed to be? They aren't Bug's or Sonic's.
>>12894370crash
>>12894373He wears completely different sneakers.
>>12894357Glover 2 would be cool, I'm not sure if Rare would let them finish their cancelled games (DinoPlanet & Twelve Tales) but it would be neat if possible.Viewpoint 2064 is also an easy choice for a release.
>>12894375lawyer-friendly crash
>I am going to take your liver wa-hey!"
>>12894375they're pretty close if you squint while looking at the ps1 shoes and think they're laces
>and think they're lacesYou'd be retarded not to think they're laces.
>>12894381What did the 'N' stand for
>>12894380Glover 2 seems like an obvious candidate. I'd love to see Viewpoint 2064 but they definitely have a stronger history of working with western publishers. They did rerelease at least one rare Japanese Game Boy game so hopefully we'll see more of those in the future.
>>12894412nigario
>>12894356It'll be interesting to see if they use a sequenced soundtrack, but the N64 was actually capable of streaming audio--it just wasn't widely used because it took up so much cartridge space. Nowadays it's not really extravagant to ship a game with a 64 MB ROM so it's much more viable.
>>12894412Stop 'N' Swop
>>12893992good little goy slave faggot
>>12893368Thanks for beta testing sonycuck!
https://youtu.be/d2Q1178u_Ao
>>12894929Interesting stuff, I'm curious to see how it progresses.
>>12894306Tried the Dark Forces port, outside the controller scheme (I'm a 1.2/Turokfag for life) the game plays well, always said Dark Forces should have been on the N64 and this port really feels like if it got an official release.>>12893887This one crashed for me when I went to the upper floor, it probably needs more work (but the guy said its still a wip), still amazing to see the original RE on N64.
>>12894929Somehow I doubt Valve would allow that anon
>>12893941>Capcomlol no, more likely Tomb Raider
>>12894356I don't think cart size is an issue any more
>>12893792>heroic adventure gamesnot sure what could this be honestly, at first i thought it could be duke nukem time to kill/land of the babes ports because of "heroic" and the evercade ports but it would say shooter instead of adventure.
>>12893342Can't wait for them to get dumped day 1.
>>12896362Apparently I can't say anything because 4chan thinks I'm typing spamBut Croc is published by Fox
>>12896362My guess is Heroes of Might and Magic, especially since ModRetro has already collaborated with Ubisoft on a few rereleases. I'm sure the hint is that it has "HERO" in the title somewhere.
>>12896951The hint is the words 20th century>>12896471
>>12894356>Move over Mario
>>12897574Probably a port of Croc 2 then, once the first one is released. Also, they just announced rereleases of Body Harvest and Clayfighter Sculptor's Cut. My hope is this means a bugfixed version of Space Station Silicon Valley.
>>12894375They are almost identical
>>12898891>CF:SCThat's cool, though I wish they added some small enhancements like a training mode and everyone unlocked without the need of using the codes everytime.
hahaha
>>12898891You can already get that https://www.vintex64.com/store/p107/Space_Station_Silicon_Valley.html
>>12899092I really don’t get the Modretro hateEverything they do has been great so far
>>12899092Noooo, my retirement fund!!But actually i would love to see a reprint of Stunt Racer just because thats the last big moolah title i don't have on the system and still kick myself for not buying a 3 dollar copy back in the day.
>>12898891That's cool they are working with Piko so we have the chance of getting carts that are not of the abysmal quality Piko themselves releases. Hope they handle Glover 2 and that other unreleased 64 game they got.
>>12896471So?
>>12899590Super Bowling too for shit and giggles. But Stunt Racer 64 being re-released would be cool, game is geniunely a fun time and I'd like to see people playing it instead of being know as the n64 game that costs a kidney.
>>1289963920th century fox, like the hint
>>12899664Super Bowling is 99% english anyway if you get the 30 dollar jap copy, so idc too much about that one. Bomberman 2nd Attack would be interesting because it has a lot of text to it. Stunt Racer though has no cheap ass import version so you really had to bite the bullet if you wanted a copy.
>>12894929https://youtu.be/QhxXwX_wnVIBeta out in case anyone wants to try it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b5RQWh8UxY
>>12901594Yeah, junk like this is the reason vibecoding has a bad reputation. The N64 is absolutely capable of creating a credible version of Crash Bandicoot, but taking the exact code and assets from the PS1 version and farting them out on N64 at 5fps is nothing more than a novelty.
>>12901661I'll give the huezilian the benefit of the doubt since he added that the project just got started and this is just PoC, BRs are also doing a lot of ports for old consoles too (PS2 specially).
>>12902048Fair enough and it's definitely impressive to see the game running on N64 and basically looking identical to the PS1 version, but so many of these recomps are just picrel, they fart out a quick and dirty port and then move on to the next thing without ever really producing a desirable conversion. I used to criticize that Frogbull guy for recreating one screen in a prebuilt engine and then posting "FINAL FANTASY VII ON THE SATURN!!" but I do have to give him major credit for continuing to plug away on his Metal Gear Solid port.https://youtu.be/_Juo9x0F7pI
>>12902069Its understandable to have fatigue over lazy AI ports and people looking for their 5mins of fame.At least the N64 ports I've seen/tested have been pretty solid (the RE1 64 port kept crashing for me but the guy behind it said its being worked on still).>frogbullOh it's the guy behind the Crash Bandicoot Saturn versionhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAUv1lwZS1w.Didn't knew he was doing MGS too
>>12896390have these re-releases been dumped? id like to have extreme-g: turbo fusion on my flashcart.
uh... crocsters?!
>>12903772Wasn't it an identical game to the OGs, other than adding a game selector? If they did actual work to it like unscrewing the framerate in Extreme-G 2, I'd actually order a physical copy.
>>12903772I think someone said they were dumped day one but I don’t have a link. Maybe archive dot org. They also just re released body harvest and Clayfighters (the special blockbuster edition)
>>12904106More people should play Body Harvest. Clayfighters 63 on the other hand, holy shit it's a horrible game, even the re-release. Do their carts even work on real hardware rather than the FPGA consoles? It won't affect the resale value of the actual originals at any rate even if it did.
>>12904110Of course they work on original hardwareWhy wouldn’t they?
>>12893342Banjoshitters finally get a real 3D platformer
>>12904110The market possibility for these to exist would be 0 if they only worked with the M64
>>12904110I really enjoyed Clayfighters myself. Hung out w a buddy almost every weekend to play 64 and it was a fun rental for us to just mess around with. Probably just the perfect age for it but I had to pick up the re release
>>12899092Haha what a troll. Did you come up w that or did modretro actually post that?
>>12905270Try playing it again today. You have a good 16 frames of delay on every input, large startup on a lot of attacks, and the game struggles to hold even 20fps despite just two guys and a simple 3d scene onscreen. CPU still makes even Mortal Kombat blush with the amount of input reading it does.
>>12899092Given its an unofficial re-release, does that mean they have to scrub out any mention of Nintendo in the game?
>>12905270Same. It was a great game for parties.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSa0GUyI96Mhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U92vpQHa0Qg
I will say, after having played my N64 a bit this past week, the notion of getting an Analogue or M64 just for the overclocking function is pretty enticing, given most of my library can't even hold 20fps.God forbid you turn on hi-rez mode for any of the expansion pak games that support it.
>>12905332Yea that’s what I remember. I also feel like this is going to be a difficult game to unlock everything. I remember the game being very hard but I was just a dumb kid so who knows.
>>12905298Yea I’m going to when i get my copy. See how it runs. I wonder if my A3D or M64 can help w the frame rate
>>12905702Aren't there only a few games that are FPS locked?
>>12905708Most have a 30fps cap at best.
>>12905725We're talking about overclocking on FPGA
>>12905729And overclocking won't break that unless you got some cheat codes to go with it, and then pray it doesn't break the game's timing routines if it's tied to FPS.
>>12905708I don’t know about that but I’m talking about using the A3D or the M64 to overclock them. If it doesn’t work for whatever reason I have no issue playing these games as intended. Been playing n64 games since release and nothing about the graphics bothered me (in fact how impressed I was then still makes the graphics feel special to me) and I love the controller so. TLDR: I’ll have a good time w the Clayfighters re release and even shake it up possibly w the over clocking on the fpga consoled
>>12894375No, sonic wears completely different sneakers you retard
>>12894412*user was warned for this post*
>>12906509>and I love the controller so.Only thing that annoys me about the N64 controller is how much a pain in the ass it is to source replacement parts at a decent price for the analog stick itself, since it's a wear&tear issue. Everyone keeps going for Gamecube-style replacements or aftermarket controllers, and that basically makes a few games (especially FPS) unplayable, since they were all tuned around the tension and finesse of the original stick, where you can do a lot with that initial 20% of stick motion relative to every modern controller stick.
>>12893342>warcrimes gamingi'll wait for the ROM to get dumped
>>12906709Don't pretend to care
