What's up /vr/iggers. This game is based even though I can't figure out what to do. I started with Hawk because his lizard sidekick is cool.

Great discussion guys. Anyway, I started with Hawk and Guella Ha, and I eventually recruited Aisha, Sif, Jamil, and Miriam. Cool party. After saving the geckos, I started the silver treasure quest but got pwned by the two dragons, so I left and instead rescued the Tarlans. And I got the holy chalice at some point. I think I reached a milestone because the monsters actually take 3 or 4 turns to die now instead of dieing to a 1 shot. It's pretty based. I'm starting to get the hang of it now that I realize the game is basically go wherever you want and just let things happen.
I beat the gay dragons in silvers cave and also saved the virgin from the blue dragon in the lake. Now I'm just kind of walking around waiting to discover new things. I should have Valhaland open but I don't know how to get there. Biggest game changer was the falcoln slash bug. That move has +1 priority over all enemy moves. If you select it and then cancel the move and reselect another move, the +1 priority will be transfered to whatever weapon or skill you want to use.Going to keep forcing you to read my blog until somebody else starts talking about the game.
>>12898706Thanks for the update, Doug.
>>12892417Is this game non-linear? What about the rest of the series?
>>12898739It's completely non-linear. More so than most games of the time that attempted to do it. You can choose one of eight starting characters, they each have their own starting scenario unique to them, after that the game is completely open and you can do anything in any order you want. You unlock new places by recruiting more party members; usually their home town or something else related to their quest will open up. The game checks your progress by adjusting things at certain checkpoints based on how many battles you've fought.Don't know how the other saga games play. I only ever played FFL on the gameboy. That one has many of the same chance-based mechanics as this game, but nowhere near as non-linear. Though you can still tell they were trying to go for a "just walk around and figure it out" approach even back then.
>>12898790Romancing SaGa 2 has a lot more structure than this one does I think? I have played it but I haven't played this one more than a little. But it's much less linear than FFL.
The save jew got me. I played as another character for fun and when I went to save it on the second slot I accidentally overwrote my original save. So I guess I'm playing Claudia's story now.
