Want to try a new Action RPG that's not Diablo, discuss or list your favorites or some more obscure ones to try out.
>>12888786>Want to try a new Action RPGI have some bad news for you, there are no new retro games they stopped making them in 2007
>>12888786Do the D&D beat-em-ups count?
>>12888786sacred gold if you want a straight up diablo clone the divinity games are also a cool mix of arpg combat and more traditional RPG fundamentals
>>12888786Divine Divinity is great. Can also try Nox although I've not spent a great deal with it
>>12888786Hexplore is simple but fun. And the rotatable isometric voxel graphics are very soulful.
Diablo but like 15 years earlier.
Champions of NorathChampions: Return to ArmsDark Alliance 1&2
>>12888786Looking for diablo clones specifically? The Fate games are goofy. The inheritance mechanic for gear adds a lot of replayability, and it's full of that turn of the century jank.Din's Curse is great. Looks like shit, plays like sin, but is weirdly amazing. The city mechanics are peak. The dungeon siege games have the most interesting party system in the genre.
>>12888965Perfect recommendations. If you have a friend willing to play with you absolutely get him in. Even if he's clueless about RPGs these are extremely accessible and easy to get into.
>>12888786Dungeon Siege. It’s like what if an ARTS was actually an auto battler.
>>12888830>Can also try Nox although I've not spent a great deal with itI played this recently and had a decent amount of fun with it. I liked playing the warrior, his abilities were fun and just the fact that you don't have a random chance to miss your hits made him feel a lot better to play than I expected. I would definitely recommend it.
>>12888786Ys Oath in Felghana is a fun, action RPG from Falcom. It has a fixed, zoomed out camera, with a 3D world and sprite based characters. it's a fast paced action hack and slash with some upgrades, some magic, and really fun boss fights.
>>12888786If you want action, I second >>12890883If you want more Diablo-like, I had fun with Throne of Darkness that adds party-based gameplay and with Titan Quest.
Try Phantasy Star Online. It's kind of like a sci-fi Diablo in 3D. The core gameplay loop is like Diablo, (running through dungeons, killing monsters in waves, and watching rare weapons, armor, and stat-boosting items drop on the ground), but Instead of an isometric point-and-click view, PSO is a third-person 3D action game. You aim, move, and swing in real-time rather than clicking to walk and attack. There are private servers still hosting the game, the most popular one is named Ephinea. It's where I play.
>>12888786try Titanquest. pretty fun one in a setting you don't see too often. not as many skills as diablo but that's ok. also has a fuckload of expansions.>>12888965>>12889978i can only recommend those games if you're playing with a friend. otherwise they are inferior to diablo 1/2 in every way.

>>12888786why do zoomers think the word "violence" is a meme-tier comedy?
>>12896360why do millennials only think it's meme-tier comedy if it's high impact and sexual?
I've got a hot take for you guys: If a game is point and click, then it's not an action game. Discuss.
>>12888815Divine Divinity would've worked better as a turn-based Fallout-esque game, instead of the Ultima VII/Diablo mashup it ended up being. Unfortunately, the publisher basically forced Sven Vincke to implement RT combat (they wouldn't publish the game if it was TB).
>>12896371So he just didn't get to make the game he wanted to until he started a crowdfunding campaign 11 years later? And it ended up being way more popular? That's extremely sad.
>>12896360Zoomers retardedly imitate the form of millennial humor without understanding what makes it funny. They think they're being cool by doing so, but it actually makes them look very "cringe" to their elders and their more intelligent and socially aware peers.
>>12896385>to their eldersOh no, old people may waggle their canes in rage at me!
>>12896410Unsurprising you would confuse it for rage, as zoomers do tend to misuse the word "cringe" for when things that make them angry, rather than vicariously embarrassed.
>>12896419The reason they do this btw is out of narcissism. Appearing angry is to show emotional vulnerability, so it's softer on one's ego and less a gauche social display to appear vicariously embarrassed, though this is itself a tendency they inherit from millennials, to be fair.
>>12896360>>12896385>>12896419>>12896424uncs crashing out lmaooo
>>12896419Woah gramps don't blow a blood vessel.
>>12896360>>12896385You literally lack the context to understand, it wasn't just a random word picked for no reason.
>>12897316That was from the really EARLY days of development for the game. I think maybe around 1997ish? Game had more refined and detailed models by the time it came out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0jea4kiCoYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abDYQCOLY6M
>>12896379Pretty much that, yes. He kept getting cockblocked by publishers for over a decade. If things had gone his way from the start, Divine Divinity would've been closer to Fallout 1/2 in terms of combat.
>>12897316thanks for the context, anon
>>12897018This. The old retards ITT are incapable of elaborating with any examples. Other than proving how senile they are with such generalities. 23% of millennial uncs are afflicted with 0.5ng/dL of lead in their bloodstream or higher according to several studies. Higher the older you go.
>>12889297>Din's CurseI have tried to forget about this game for years now, somehow it always finds a way back in my life. I remember ordering this game and having it mailed to me, got a buddy to buy it too and it was almost as bad as SS2 coop just the most buggy mess with constant issues, no idea if there was a patch or anything but it was definitely one of the video games of all time.
