back in 1991, if your only option to play Final Fight at home was the SNES port, I recommend the Famicom version.

Anon the OP is trying to trick you. Sega CD version was not out for another couple of years.
He’s basically giving very few options in 1991. There isn’t really anything else for him to recommend. There were home computer releases at that time too but they all sucked. The spectrum version can kill people due to its sheer horror.

Yeah I'm seconding this. I had the game myself as a kid, played the fuck out of it and enjoyed it for the semi-accurate arcade port it was but no matter how much practice I put in beating it was never going to happen. The limited continues were just too punitive, the bosses all had cheap attacks that were more or less guaranteed hits and there was no co-op.

It was a game designed to be beaten by multiple people shoveling quarters into it (which is how my friends and I beat the arcade version, the final stage alone probably cost us a couple dollars) but the SNES version was single player only and came with a credit cap that was completely unrealistic. I probably played that game as much as anyone. There was a week or two where I played it every night. I was pretty good at it. I stopped playing "fair" and abused the enemy quirks and programming limitations to cheese as much of it as possible. And I still had to tap out at the Abigail fight 99% of the time. I never even saw the final boss.

I would like to see any of the people involved in that port play it start to finish without cheats. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't beat it either. It was designed to be more or less impossible
    >>
    >>12884646
I like Mighty Final Fight as well, but its mechanics are a bit different with some levelling up of skills. For a home port just a bit later that is pretty close to the arcade style mechanics, try the X68000 version.

    Whatever the default difficulty was.
It was with Cody. You can actually trap some if not all of the bosses by punching a couple of times, facing away and then turning back and punching them very quickly. I remember doing that. I also remember just being generally good at it from playing it. At the end of the day it’s just pattern recognition. This was a long time ago. Now I am old and regret everything.
    >>
    >>12887202
I did and you will have to live with this.
Want some more? I think I did at least three times before becoming truly bored.
There’s no point in arguing with me. You can say I didn’t and I can say I’d did
Only I am telling the truth though and for some reason you are annoyed that people can beat a game a long time ago. Super ghouls and ghosts was harder at the time.
    >>
    >>12887213
    Sure whatever.
Not even a difficult game. Same enemy pattern constantly. Perhaps you are simply unskilled.

I’ve seen some weird shit on this site but getting upset that someone could beat a game well over 30 years ago is a new one. It’s perfectly possible to beat it. When you don’t have a lot of games you spend the time on some of them. Final fight on the snes wasn’t particularly unfair as I recall.

Yeah, it's not great compared to the arcade version, but it was basically a launch game for the Super Famicom, and came out just a year after the arcade original, which was on superior hardware. What's really egregious is that Final Fight Guy didn't add 2 player.

Nothing needs walked back. I don’t even remember whether it was 92. I think it probably was. This is not something I need to give much thought to.
It’s just a game that was not much trouble a long, long time ago.
    Mildly challenging.

    >google search will bring up reviews from the game’s release. this is more accurate

That post >>12887998 was literally a summary of reviews at the time of release + the guy's opinion (and he isn't a teenager)

But okay I'll bite, let's look at the biggest compedium of reviews from 91 and 92 (including Guy because I'm generous)

    https://www.mobygames.com/game/9836/final-fight/reviews/snes/

For most of the reviews the difficulty isn't significant enough to be mentionned in the review's summaries. There is like, one review from 93 which says the bosses are challenging. But also one from 92 which says "it isn't challenging enough".
The one review that says "It’s a tough game and anyone that beats it without the help of a game genie, I’m impressed!" is from 2020. Go back to 2004 and you'll find "Final Fight is definitely on the easy side"

But again, I'm the only one providing sources here because you're just talking out of your ass and not making any sense, moving goalposts and pretending not to understand things so that it fits your pre-determined opinion on "how the game was ALWAYS viewed" based on fucking youtube and reddit
    >>
    >>12888070
Again, moving the goalpost. Your initial argument was "always", which isn't true.
I don't believe you and the other redditors are lying, I believe you are worse at action games and at 2D beat'em up in modern times than players were back when it was released. Because 2D action games is all everyone played back then and beat'em ups were the new hottest genre all over the arcades during that time. So yes, I believe you all suck at Final Fight, but that doesn't mean "everyone always thought it was this super hard cheap game", though I do believe that you believe your modern opinion = "objectively how it's always been" despite the swarm of sources pointing to the contrary.
    >>
    >>12888071
You know my age within two or three years. I don’t feel like giving you my exact age. This makes you seethe more so it’s fine.
This was so long ago it’s funny and over something so irrelevant. This was not a hard game. Play it repeatedly and you will make it through no issues.
    >>12888074
I beat the game myself. Mildly challenging as I recall.
    >>12888137
I beat it back in the early 90s. No interest in doing so now. I tried going through the interesting GBA version with the added in Streetfighter Alpha character versions several years back. I just don’t find it fun now. Couldn’t be bothered to finish it.
Beating the snes version and posting a video now proves nothing about beating it back then to you anyway.
I guess you’ll just have to continue getting severely mad about this mildly challenging thing I did all those decades ago.
    >>
    >>12888182
    I beat it decades ago.
I stick to my story. It was mildly challenging. It’s no Super Ghouls and Ghosts which be a very tough challenge from about the same time.
There is no way for you to disprove me wrong and there’s no way for me to show you what happened in the 90s apart from just telling you how it was.
The only thing that could be discussed is why you actually think snes final fight is difficult. It really is not too bad.
    I would say mildly challenging.
    >>
    >>12888190
