Klonoa thread on /vr/?>
>>12880489Recently played the original PS1 Klonoa game not only as my first Klonoa but my first PS1 game (never had consoles growing up).Amazing. Looks stunning on a proper CRT TV, the levels are super fun, lore / cutscenes don't get in the way, the OST kicks ass, the game is actually fucking hard during the later levels. It became one of my favorite games of all time.Tried buying it, turns out copies go for around 500€ for the american version, oh well.
Hmmm Klonoa
"clone"-oa, lol.
>>12880913>the game is actually fucking hard during the later levelsAlmost had me until this part. It's a trivial game until you start doing 150 gems.
>Wahoo
>>12881093The sound he makes when you release it inside of him
First of all, what fucking kind of animal is he even supposed to be?
>>12881087I'm not sure what you mean by the 150 gems but I did find it pretty hard at the later levels. There were a couple where I spent at least 1 to 2h trying to pass the level without dying. Those were the ones that had the coolest graphics and music though, so it kept me going.
>>12881087> It's a trivial gameWhy do people keep saying this? Maybe I'm just not good at video games, but DTP is not an easy game past the early levels.
>>12880489More like Sovlnoa. More sovl with every additional playthrough.
>>12881159A cat with long ears. Some have argued that it's a mythical cabbit (cat and rabbit)
>>12881153uh, release what exactly...?
>>12881176I tried this, but the music was just so, monotonous.I should give it another go though, it's a predecessor to the GBA games and the only other game that featured Klonoa's original design. Everything else (including Beach Volleyball on the PS1) used his Klonoa 2 design, or a redesign.
>>12881725Because DtP really is an easy game if you just want to see everything it has to offer. Other than the awkward sliding physics, the controls are tight. The puzzles are a lot simpler than those in the handheld games. The game is so generous with health items and lives that game over is basically an impossibility, I did not find out it's called "vision over" in this game until years after I played it. Most hidden villagers can be found easily if you're not rushing through the game (there's really only 1 or 2 of these that require you to inspect your surroundings, one in an off-route door in 4-1 from the top of my head) and the extra vision spoonfeeds you lives in every other room. Really, I'm not sure what could be hard about this game if you just want to get through the levels.
Who did it better, Klonoa or Dead or Alive?
>>12881804Yoghurt
>>12882161Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball is surprisingly good, Klonoa beach volleyball is just sort of mediocre, it's cute though.
>>12882161I had no idea this existed!... Do the characters wear skimpy outfits like in DoA volleyball?
>>12882523>I had no idea this existed! It was only released in Japan and PAL regions.
>>12880489What core memories do you have playing this game way back?
>>12882161the volleyball game is tied to lunateas veil and the gba klonoa games
many tonde games
>>12880489LGBT game
>>12883731Klonoa hates queers
>>12882523Klonoa has got fur anyway, what are skimpy outfits gonna show?
>>12883731lol no

>>12880489Who's the Sonic character?
>>12884397Namco's OC.
>>12884434Stop gooning to Klonoa ffs

Is this franchise exclusively liked by pederasts?
>>12884434HNNGH
>>12884351
>>12884871No.
>>12884871No
>>12884871Yes, you won't find earnest discussion about the games anywhere, it's pedophiles, furries and trannies all the way down.
>>12884871>40 posts total>0 posts talking about gameplay, music, world, storywhat do you think bub?
>>12888620SadWho wants furries and trannies in their fanbase.
>>12881827>but the music was just so, monotonous.Just mute it.
>>12881827Getting all the coin things in this game gets you an entire world of harder levels. Only a couple times near the end did I find levels that were maze-like or confusing. Pretty clever level design, very Wario Land 2
>>12881176Love this game, it actually uses klonoa's basic mechanics to their fullest to make puzzle-like levels. The atmosphere too because it's so gloomy.
Can someone post that image of a knight rescuing a princess that turns out to be Klonoaplease thanks
>>12889810>>12889823Stop being weird about Klon
>>12890341Cute images aren't weird!
>>12890357that is a sexual 'noa...
>>12889823
>>12881186>I'm not sure what you mean by the 150 gemsEach level has exactly 150 gems. Some of them require using the gem doubler at the right times to get them all. Otherwise you'll get something like 147/150.There's a gem counter in Lunatea's Veil that unlocks concept art if you get 150 in a level. You'll need the counter for Lunatea's Veil since it is a bastard to 150 gem levels in. You will know pain once you try to get 150 gems in the boarding levels. And long levels like Hyuponia. Missing a single gem or a mistimed doubler means a restart.
>>12890451THANK YOU
I genuinely do not understand why they went for such an ultra downer ending for the first game. The sequel doesn't even address it. It's like it's designed to punch children in the gut.
>>12890580>The sequel doesn't even address it.The sequel is all about him coping with what happened. About accepting sadness from what happened to him.
>>12890341Klonoa is autistic. He can't help but to be weird all the time.
>>12890813I thought Klonoa was canonically neurotypical
>>12889289I want to be immersed in the game, not play it on visuals alone. That's a failure point of the game if the audio design is lacking.>>12889595Cool, like it when games actually give you an added challenge for aiming for 100%.
>>12880913it's one of my favorite PS1 games. I love the art direction--the pixel art textures are so clean and minimalistic, everything is colorful and fantastic and a bit odd. The "dream world" theme is just so Japan, it feels exotic and both comfy and eerie. The 3D world with 2D sidescrolling thing has been done before, but I think Klonoa does it best, especially the way the world curves in and around on itself and there is interactive depth. Tomba 2 tries a similar thing, but lets you take multiple paths kind of like a board game.Klonoa is one of a kind.
>>12890813>He can't help but to be weird all the time. He's weirder than your sister.
>Meet Klonoa. He's wacky. He flaps his over-sized when you team up with Klonoa. He's the star in ears to fly. He's the fantasy creature from Namco's new action-adventure game in a 3-D Phantomile. And he inflates the bad guys until zany landscape. At least now you know there's they blow up. Yikes! No one stands a chance someone outside your family who's stranger.
>>12891047
what is it with gay pedophiles and klonoa?
>>12892317There is no correlation between Klonoa and gay pedophiles
>>12892356Gosh klonoa is so cute (no homo)
>>12883731Klonoa bangs Lolo every night though

Don't get me wrong, I like the Klonoa games, but does anyone else get mildly annoyed at the way his ear-flap interrupts his aerial momentum?
>>12902284Not really, it's kinda like Yoshi.
>>12902495Yoshi doesn't slow down nearly as much as Klonoa though. The ear-flap brings him to an almost complete halt.
