In 10 days, on November 8th, Gen 9 will usurp Generation 4 as the longest lasting Pokémon Generation, with Gen 4 being 1451 days long.

Gen 9 has already beaten Gen 3 to become the second longest Generation ever, with Gen 3 being 1407 days.

Unless Winds and Waves comes out between now and November 8th, the titled should be taken.
    >>
Feels weird pokemon is bigger then ever but somehow feels less present. Gen 4 definitely had more stuff happening with it more consistently. I guess pokemon has kind of demphasized gens themselves though.

Yeah, gen9 has one pair of games to its name, a side series and two spinoffs. Gen 4 had a pair of main games, a pair of remakes, two spinoff series runing alongside it and a handful of console games to tie into the whole.
    >>
18th November next year seems likeliest release date so Gen 9 probably will become the longest Gen by day count.

I read an article about why Pokemon does so well, it's because it's consistent in releases, there is always something every year, so kids grow up with Pokemon through each year they grow up and it stays with them, where's other franchises release a single game 5+ years at a time so those 8 year olds that played the first game and stopped after a year are now 13 year olds with completely different interests in games cause they had nothing to keep them engaged with it.

WW was obviously intended for this year for the 30th anniversary so having it come out 3 months before the 32nd anniversary (if it is Nov 27') seems so out of place, so those 8 year olds who started with SV are now gonna be 13 when it comes out so now Pokemon is falling into why other franchises loose steam, it's honestly older fans who are keeping this franchise going.

It's the same as tv shows now and why viewership drops so much each season because people are having to wait 2-3 years for a new 8 episode season.

Switch 2 delay's ultimately to blame, Teraleak showed it caused some big snags in development. Basegame ZA was actually finished and ready to go gold as soon as 2024, but they had to withhold because Ninty wanted it to be a title that promoted Switch 2 via the improved performance of the Switch 2 Edition. And it Switch 1 edition came out on its own, that meant less were likely to gun for the Switch 2 Edition later, especially when it's just a performance buff compared to how other Switch 2s add novelty modes or proper DLC expansions.
And obviously, they couldn't just polish or improve basegame in the meantime, because that would create compatibility snags with the DLC, which was mid-development and slated for 2025, but then just wound up awkwardly releasing very close to base ZA, which led to a lot of accusations of "cutting content just to sell it back to you" greed from people who didn't know what was going on internally.
WW has probably been in a gold state since Pokemon Day, but they already slated Pokopia to be their 2026 game, and they don't want the plucky console-only spinoff, an absolute rarity these days, to get cannibalized by the big mainline title. And much like ZA, WW likely isn't getting any polish, because it still needs to be compatible with the DLC, which will once again likely be announced, sold and released very close to basegame's release.

Not everything is a rhyming stanza. Pokopia standing alone is less about respecting Pokopia, and more about righting the main series ship for decades to come. They cut it too close with SV, they cut it too close with Legends Arceus, so now everything is subject to a year(s) long buffer period.

ZA was, for the reasons you point out, not given as much attention. Pathfinding in the DLC is just objectively broken. Historically, these DLCs have been directed differently and had different teams, and on the whole that's been good, but this kind of delay might allow for better coordination between those projects.

There's a much higher chance that WW and future games get tinkered with and tweaked in ways ZA, evidently, did not.

Except they've been releasing shit right up to 2026, meaning only ONE year of no pokémon releases will have passed.
Just because you retard cunts aren't interested in everything Game Freak do, doesn't mean kids aren't. Stop projecting your feelings about shit onto them.
    >>59693452
This is why I can never take you retard kids seriously, by the time Teraleak leaked, Game Freak had been told WW wasn't expected/wanted until 2027. No games studio gets extra development time and DOESN'T use it, so no WW has not been "in a gold state since pokémon day" because Game Freak aren't ran by /vp/ manchildren who think because a game intended for a 2024 release was basically completed while the studio had to wait a year for the publisher to release the console and focal point for their new game that every other game on the slate was finished to its original deluiv ery date and they're sitting on hands for a year.

    >now everything is subject to a year(s) long buffer period.
Only because Nintendo delayed Switch 2. I hate to tell you cunts, there would have been no "waiting" period, had Nintendo got the Switch 2 out on intended release date (delay was to build stock reserves and not repeat S1's launch where the world WANTED a Switch, but couldn't BUY a Switch. Sure enough S2's set a record for sales due to Nintendo having reserves enough to sell them without worrying about sell-outs). This whole thing is because of that, but please don't think Pokémon's "taking extra time", they always wait two years before appearing on new hardware, to allow Nintendo to produce a smaller-form revision model for kids and povvos.

    >>59693627
    >there would have been no "waiting" period, had Nintendo got the Switch 2 out on intended release date

You have a childlike understanding of things. There are conflicting interests, but there are areas where Nintendo and TPC fall in lockstep. Both wanted this delay. If it hadn't been this specific set of circumstances, then we would've seen the cards shuffled elsewhere, like with BDSP.

It's cool to lecture kids with 101 intro stuff, but like, you're still on the intro course. Maybe listen some more.

    >>59693638
    >here are areas where Nintendo and TPC fall in lockstep. Both wanted this delay.
No, TPC would rather a new game each year, to fully monetise with tie-in events and toys produced from what they add to the canon. But what marketing companies "want" is irrelevant to the desires of the console producer. Nintendo got fucked with S1 release, they needed to air-freight stock out, which is magnitudes more expensive than freight-by-sea They did NOT want to have to do that shit again and strangely have not announced a shortage or delay of normal Switches (they did underestimate the Zelda 40th ed. popularity, but they're going to produce that for a while yet, so its irrelevant, people could always buy a regular model if they didn't want to wait for a 40th ed restock). Because they produced enoiugh before going on sale to handle the release demand and allow them to continue to produce S2 units to replenish sales by the time first run stock was sold out. If any those cunts "wanted" the delay, Game Freak would have been told to delay it LONG before the 25th February 2024, which is when they ACTUALLY got told Nintendo was delaying Switch 2 and they had to delay Pokémon Legends : Z-A.

    >>59693638
Remember, TPC don't create jack shit for the series, they take existing creations and market them in different things keyed around people giving them money for the thing. They see nothing from the games, nothing from the sales of consoles and as a result, shite out every other bit of tat to earn their crust. A delayed game is death to them, as they have to fund a filler anime, have to fund filler card sets, have to fund filler merch event lines, etc, etc. When really they want to spend all that money on NEW things to start selling NEW toys and lines and a new anime series etc, etc. They've wrung their money out the Gen, they've been around since 2000 and had the M. O. down pat by 2006. No new shit means more money needed to be spent to shift the older shit.

Fancy offering counter-points or just going to admit defeat like every other spergy little manchild I end up meeting here?

    >>59693674
Yeah big dawg TPC doesn't even conceive of a roadmap, they're just a hungry machine who kills people to get Gen 10 Happy Meals out quicker. Pokemon has never done 5 and 10 year plans before big dawg. You're very smart to recognize corporate greed existing. Capitalism bad and all that, good job big dawg. Very smart post

I'm glad we get a little more time with this generations girls
Still disgruntled sada never caught on though
    >>
    >>59693679
Yeah little girl, TPC are owned by Game Freak and Nintendo and their sole M.O. is marketing the Pokémon brand to children. They have no input into game production (never did, that was Game Freak's sole purview since Yamauchi greenlit giving Tajiri a development budget to explore the production of that game idea he got in '89), that is an arrangement between Nintendo (the publisher and console manufacturer) and Game Freak (the people who make the new Pokémon games to deliver for Nintendo's release schedule, counting ALL first, second and third party releases). There's also the fact if TpC "wanted" the delay, they'd have told Game Freak there was a planned delay, not throw it at them a few days before they were SUPPOSED to reveal their new game that was coming to Switch and Switch 2 like what did happen (mind, that's assuming TPC own Game Freak and not the other way around). And the fact byou cunts continue to insist TPC are worth a fuck's the funniest (TPC told Game Freak to make Mega Grninja for XY series. Game Freak told TPC to get knotted THEN went and deleted the arsepull form they shat out for TPC anyway. Subordinates can't decide that kind of shit, which is why TPC didn't get Mega Greninja in Gen 6). I'm not interested in what the voices in your head are telling you, Nintendo are beholden to nobody but themselves and their shareholders (and shareholders fucking hate having a product so fucking popular, it's sold the fuck out everywhere and no cunt can buy it to give them their end-of-year dividend).
    >>
    >>59693950
Nintendo have changed their trad release days to thursdays in the past few years. It also makes sense to release it before Black Friday week, so the day-one buys aren't muddled up with the must-buy-things and causing more chaos.
    >>
    >>59693620
    >a game intended for a 2024 release was basically completed while the studio had to wait a year for the publisher to release the console and focal point for their new game that every other game on the slate was finished to its original deluiv ery date and they're sitting on hands for a year
Nintendo, famously, does this all the time. How do you think they have exactly one game come out each month? They finish games as they're done then sit on them until the time is right to release it.
    >>
    >>59695571
    >they waste money sitting on games they won't release, because i assume everything about the video game industry
Again, shareholders. They have "a game a month" because they set dev cycles to HIT that "game a month" tally. All to support a system they produce. To ensure profits stay strong and shareholders keep being content with performance. They also extend rojects unlooked for too (MP4, in development for about 8 years, given they revealed it at E3 2017, TotK delayed to polish the engine).
But that's also ignoring Switch 2 has actual third-party support - said this before, I don't give a flying fuck for cod, fifa or madden, but the biggest normalcunt IP's behind Pokémon appearing on the thing's huge for Nintendo. But what was bigger was the fact it was on store shelves in-stock so anyone who wanted one could buy it (BotW had a 125% uptake rate at one stage, as people bought their game and reserved their Switch unit as it was sold the fuck out). Which is why Nintendo delayed the whole system, despite
"things being done". Because stock reserves weren't "done" and because S1 was so fucking popular, it was sold out in bigger countries to the point it cost Nintendo extra in shipping and delivery fees to restock, hence the delay of S2, to ensure there was no silly fails like "we solded the fuck out, give us more nao plox" like before.
