I can teach it fly without wasting a slot. Most birdmons either suck or have generally inferior movesets (only aerial ace being worth anything). Fly is good enough to be usable in-game since npc's don't switch. So charizard has that going for it.2. Flamethrower. Once charizard learns flamethrower it can ohko almost anything way up to the elite four. Only water types will pose a hurdle since rock types are shitmons in Kanto and can usually be defeated by a flamethrower.That being said, I get Venusaur shilling (sleep powder and leech seed). Not to mention, most grass types in Kanto suck (at least you have Arcanine as a fire type alternative for Charizard). But always thought Blastoise was the worst starter choice because Lapras and Gyarados seemed like superior alternatives.
