>>59676588>What characteristics make a good PMD OC?Anything that looks like the Pokémon they are meant to be, fits the PMD setting and isn't a legendary. If you OCfy them to stand out, be tame. Scarfs, hair tuffs, bags and little more.Any mon that's bottom 80% of popularity has the advantage of not really needing to be OCfied.>What was the worst PMD OC you ever saw (share a pic too)? Not Oc-fied, but a Gary Stew self insert.>Super smart and liked by everyone>3rd in command behind Wigglytuff and Chatot>Helps everyone as a counselor with his smarts(His smarts amount to racially profiling Pokémon cos he read the dex)>The protag human was his trainer. Friends with Grovyle.>Works to prevent the planet's paralysis by doing jack shit for two years before Sky>Sad backstory where his sister was killed defending him, which mentally scared him and gives him mental breakdowns. Everyone around him is incredibly supportive, and even the bad guys take pitty on his plight.>What is your most hated piece of PMD fan media (comics, art, romhacks, etc.)?Bubsy Mystery Dungeon was literally made by an autist in welfare. Making PMD but Bubsy is the protagonist is already a horrible idea, but then she took Bubsy and made him a softy with self doubt that makes himself a hero. Also made him uncle to the partner, and father of a Sprigatito OC born of his nightmares to make it a found family story. All executed as well as you can imagine, with bad scene scripting and structure following vanilla EoS.>What is the most technologically advanced thing that you think the PMD would should have? You can get creative as long as it ties to the abilities of a Pokémon (Expedition Society has long distance communication trough Dedenne) or it's fantasy (the firsms). If it's an analog to real world technology, you should make it crappier.Don't make it widespread. Giving a phone to background characters would disturb their rudimentary lives.
>>59676588>>What characteristics make a good PMD OC?if you can still recognise the pokemon and if it isn't an animal recolored to be a pokemon>>What was the worst PMD OC you ever saw (share a pic too)?pic related might seem tame but it's the sort of shit that offputs me from reading a pmd fic. there's another artist who's almost as bad. most are>>What is your most hated piece of PMD fan media (comics, art, romhacks, etc.)?3 fanfics. they're all slop in different ways, free n forth, trailblazers, and realms of reverie. two of them are overly gratuitous edge pieces, the third is just a fetish smorgasbord. they're actually horrendous slop>>What is the most technologically advanced thing that you think the PMD would should have?technology doesn't inherently exist when in history people think it does, it's okay for pokemon to have it. what you don't want to do is have the technology replace something that a pokemon can already do by themselves.super mystery dungeon's connection orb was promoted as and is referred to internally as twitter. if that's their version of twitter bearing in mind how super is still definitely not contemporary, then you can be lenient with adding things so long as you don't ruin the vibe, i feel
>>59676588>What is the most technologically advanced thing that you think the PMD [world] should have?Pic(s) related, more or less. But ideally not much more.
>>59676633Reddit Ghetsis
Hey all. Sorry for the long wait, here's the next part of Team Cypress's story. Hope you enjoy! https://rentry.org/twoinredtwoMany thanks to Vaporeanon, Toge-anon, and Glaceon-anon for betareading.
>>59676792>"the third is just a fetish smorgasbord," he says, in the Pokémon TF ThreadIn other news: fork found in kitchen. More at 11
>>59676588>What is the most technologically advanced thing that you think the PMD world should have?Honestly I would have no problem with a lot of industrial revolution-era tech (telegraph, early trains + steam engines, widespread usage of the printing press). Outside of already-established things though I would functionally cap it at the 1870s - 1890s at most.
>>59676824based, always nice to see more stories, good work anon.
I really fucking hate PMD OCs and fursona OCs and I really do not know why I even hate them.I wonder if it could be because the target audience is just the creator himself, while canon characters have a wider target audience? Maybe that is why they annoy me that much?Or maybe it's just like the uncanny valley effect of taking something familiar to me and slightly changing it.Or maybe it's that the artist "claims" the art with his unique OC so it isn't as universal as generic species?Anyways, the best OCs are the ones which are just normal Pokémon but in custom clothing and outfits. These can actually look really cute on art and I enjoy them despite being OCs. I also do not mind if you add something like a sword to bipeds like that one Feraligatr OC I once saw.Mildly irritating tier is giving them custom hairstyles and fur styling. They can still look cute but it is irritating. Then comes details like scars, body shapes, tone differences in body colors, eye colors, eye shapes and all that shit. You get the idea. I really do not like seeing that shit. And finally there is vile and profoundly evil shit like changing the entire color pallet like last threads example which just made me rage out on my punching bag with my baseball bat.I also do not like shiny OCs. This has less to do with them being "bad" per se and more with my endless grude I have against the shiny game mechanic. Fuck that game mechanic. So glad only 1DX has it.
>"Randall! There's a furry in this PMD group!">"It's a video game where humans turn into Pokemon.">"Yergonnafindfurriesinit!"
>>59676824Cool, I'll give it a read later. Congrats on publishing!
would you guys buy a hypothetical Super remaster? I never beat it back in the day and it's been in my mind but I'm wishing it had the new megas we got last year
>>59677365I don't really want any pmd remaster I would rather have a new game. Although I think PMD 3 needs one the mosy to fix its tiny dex.
>>59677371>A new game>Another Super where it’s straight fanfic all the way through No, let’s stick with the remasters for the time being.
>>59677371>PMD 3Gates to Infinity? The one where we'd even have to pay more real money to unlock mons that already appear, but only in "you can't recruit here" dungeons?
>>59676524I just watched a playthrough of Future’s Gifts. Another male x male hack, plus it has Toby Fox Syndrome aka “give every side character they/them pronouns”. It’s fine other than that, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Still need to try The Neon Strip, or at least the prologue like that one anon said. One idea that I think would be good but maybe not worth the trouble of actually making is some kind of affinity system between the two protags. Dialogue would be slightly different depending on how close they are, new cutscenes, more hurt/comfort while in the future, post-game dates at Spinda’s Cafe, all that lovey dovey stuff.
>>59676824Very good story, I really enjoyed Sierra and Santos's interactions and all of the encounters with other guildmembers. Fight scene was good too.
Soooo do you guys always pick between Eevee/Skitty/Chikorita/Vulpix as your partner or are you guys molested by that one uncle as a child?
>>59678600Very weak bait. Try again.
All my life I have never been unemployed enough to consider farming gummis in Marowak Dojo an abuse.Final Maze is the only maze with free gummis that you can't even consistently clear without specific IQ skills e.g. Energy Saver. HMs in EoS are all dogshit, getting them makes nothing easier, and you can always lose them forever when you starve or die in Final Maze anyway.Way too many romhacks made by wise guys these days. I just want to play EoS with gen 9 pokedex man.
>>59679367How shitty are the higher difficulty levels?
>>59676824Loved the story! Good to see these two again.
>>59679367>Difficulty options>Vanilla difficulty does not change the Dojo>"I just want to play EoS with gen 9 pokedex man."Chat, am I fucking stupid? What's stopping you from picking vanilla difficulty and doing whatever you want in the Dojo?
>>59679842oh fuck yeah this art is kino. Going into my Pikachu folder
>>59679388Tried an expert playthrough earlier in the year, the difficulty at the start was actually kind of fun. Had to use full party control which was new and stacking up your team in front of 1 tile wide hall ways to try and bulldoze minibosses made me appreciate MD's combat in a new "tactical" way. By the time you get to the future arc the difficulty became retarded because the game clearly expects you to "grind" the dojo as much as you can. Which is exactly once per in game day, then they lock you out of it until the next day. Once I finally got up to primal dialga just for his roar of time to ohko the group through fucking light screen I dropped it entirely.
>>59680191Should've stocked on reviver seeds bro.I'm always a bit mixed on the idea of directly controlling your party members in these games, on one hand it does lead to a lot less frustration, but on the other I feel like tard-wrangling your party members is a skill in of itself and part of the appeal.
>>59676588Why does Explorers have a fetish for water caves? >Beach cave >drenched bluff >waterfall cave >craggy coast >steam cave >brine cave It's a very wet game.
>>59680842I only really find myself having to control my partners during outlaw encounters and bossfights. And even then it's just to get them to do status moves and debuffs before we wail on them.
>>59676588I'm bored to shit playing Super Mystery Dungeon... Does the game get better at any point? I don't know if I fucked up picking the fox cause all I'm doing is spamming down corridors to kill stuff.
>>59681015SPM is a slog imo and doesn't really get that good until the end and post game. The elementary school shit made me want to blow my head off.
>>59681119Are there any other mystery dungeon games that actually have some level of depth to them? I guess it doesn't just have to be Pokemon.
>>59680937Wanted to make fire types suffer. Or they just wanted to re-use a lot of similar tilesets.
>>59681314Play Shiren. 6 even has the dedicated PMD reference dungeon
>>59681314The Shiren games and Chocobo's Dungeon 2.
>>59682188>no torneko>no yangus either unless you wanted to keep it to 1 rep per game>no GilElders really get no respect...
>>59682188Not him, I've played most of PMD and Shiren, is Chocobo 2 the only good FF one?>>59682349No one-way heroics character either, but I've heard the MD version of that game sucks. Shame because I really like the original.
>>59682648>is Chocobo 2 the only good FF one?The one on the Wii (Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon) is also good and adds a class system that should feel familiar if you have played a job-based FF like V. It also has good nostalgia-bait factor due to most of the music being remixes of FF music. I just find the dungeons and enemies boring compared to 2's, and the difficulty is on the low side.It has a downgraded port for the DS and a remaster for the Switch (Every Buddy!). I haven't played the Switch remaster so I can't comment on the gameplay, but while it adds some stuff, it removes an anime-like intro song and the cutscenes seem to be based on the DS port's because they are much worse and there is even a major cutscene that gets completely ruined with censoring. As for Chocobo's Dungeon 1 on the PSX, it is terrible and I can tell they were still trying to figure shit out. I'm not even sure if it can truly be called a MD game since it uses a very weird combat system that is not really turn-based.
>>59682188>ShirenI've been planning on getting into that series. There's a bunch of different ones, so do you have a recommended order to play them?
You think with Recomps/Decomps we can have a version of RT where you can play as some of the starters from EoS?I'd love if Phanpy was a starter pick.
>>59683273Not him, but Shiren 2 on N64 with a translation patch is probably the easiest entry point, and it's a prequel to 1 so it's the first story-wise. Story is the one that's most similar to PMD too it's basically proto-explorers plot
>>59676588Aww, love to see Totodile and Cubone as a pair! This was my team last time I played Blue Rescue Team. I think I named them "Team WaniKara" or something like that in reference to their Japanese names. They look really good together. The only thing is... the player character being Cubone raises some questions about the skull.
>>59683296The recomps and decomps as of recent are all done with AI, are of shit quality, and generally the PMD fanbase is composed of Bluesky autists who screech when the very idea is brought up. Best chance is learning to hack Rescue Team
>>59683903the blueskikes are the bigger problem between the two
Ideas of monsters to fill this with?
>>59684208Use a random Pokemon generator
>>59684208Floragato
>>59684208Drifloon
>>59684208Linoone rushing through with mailRoss streaking paint on the ground or doing graffiti in his sleep on that wall to the rightParora flopping through the streetsAnd the random pokemon people are posting as natives
>>59684208At least one Lucario and/or Riolu.
>>59683296Rescue Team has a pretty short story, and you can take one recruit into all story dungeons other than the fugitive arc ones. You can use a mystery mail generator to get most mons you want from the start the moment you can buy their friend area. The moment the story's done, you can ditch the hero and partner, and use whatever mons you want.Only reason to have them as the starter would be to cry onions tears as the fugitive arc mentaly breaks you.
>>59684208Random Pogeymon or Clover OCs...?
>>59684208Pikachu, duh
>>59684208why does this remind me of a local park lol
>>59684208Cool art, is this for a story or something?
rapist creep cyndaquil with ghostly fire that evolves into a hisui typhlosion
>>59685372My friend is going through art classes, and I'm showing support by reading books akin to his courses. I finished Framed Perspective v1 and 2, and wanted to do something with it.>>59684246I am quite fond of G. Zigzagoon and G. Linoone.
>>59685865LIQUID!
question for the thread, are there any bug types (from any gen) you think could feasibly make sense as MD starters?
>>59686313A lot of the 3-stage ones could probably work well, especially the ones that start off pure bug. I'd throw in for Grubbin, specifically.
>>59686313Larvesta and Sewaddle were the first two that came to mind. After pulling up the list of bug types, I'd say Dwebble and Cutiefly
>>59686313Ledyba
>>59686599I enjoy Caves of Qud. Best roguelike where you can get killed by banana trees.
>>59686313Paras for maximum suffering in rescue team where you get murdered by 4x effective drill peckBut more seriously, Venonat and Ledyba are the only bugs I can really see fitting as a PMD starter, all others are too small/big or too weird to work.
>>59686878>one chance at isekai>stuck with a parasitic mushroom on your back>evolving means death
>>59687288What if you get isekaid as the mushroom instead
>>59687488>anon gets isekai'd as a native paras's mushroom>keeps trying to influence the paras to go to places it can evolve so he can gain full control>but every time the paras is about to evolve, some comedic series of events happens that prevents it
>>59688079i would read this, but how would it end? finally tricking the paras into evolving? or perhaps mr shroom realizes along the way that symbiosis is better and they live happily ever after?
>>59688103They get hit with ember.
>>59687288but enough about Bulbasaur
>>59688809that doesn't even make sense
>>59688863Bulbasaur haters don't make sense
>>59688863only Bulbasaur is popular. Not its evolutions
>>59679367>I just want to play EoS with gen 9 pokedex man.i like explorers of fortune, it's the closest i've found to thisi don't think it has the full dex yet but it's getting close. it does add some custom things but mostly to make room for the new mons, i find them mostly unintrusive. i think the newest version adds an extra postgame chapter involving zacian but i haven't gotten that far in the newest version yet
yo, still alive !i haven't though of my new rebrand story for a while but i still want to do at least something, maybe writing a more casual little snippets and not pressure myself into astronomical expectations.i'll make lil doodles to show what i want the most is interaction and funny ideas i have!
>>59690311Nice to see you're still around. When are we getting Shirley au chocolat? If you're in a drawing mood, the magma halloween board closes at around november 1st.
>>59690311>no october doodles like the last couple yearsit's clOVER...
>>59690311cute doodles!
>>59688128I swear I got 999 damage against a parasect in explorers once when using a fire starter.
>>59692279you 100% murdered that thing.
>>59692279>>59693200murdered that freak
>>59692279Damage multipliers strong in PMDMore news at 11.
>>59693129Exclusive items were unbalanced as fuck but I kinda wish they came back. If doing one for every pokemon would be too much work now then just having type-exclusives back would be neat, or maybe only starter-exclusives.
>>59693551The gems in PMD2 were type specific exclusive items that either protect from statuses for some times or gives 2x speed for others(!!!) if the weather is right. That right there is extremely unvalanced, but when you note that some mons need Fog for the speed boost (Ghost types) while others need Clear weather (Flying types), that's where it becomes wild.Weather band on Flying mons activates the Gem effect btw.As for starter only exclusive items, I'm not a fan of mechanical incentives to stick to the hero and partner. And while this could just amount to a small bonus to make them more competitive, I don't want another Super situation.
>>59693623The funny thing is Ledyba got the speed boost from the flying gem, but its line also got an exclusive item that gave speed boosts as well. These stacked, so you could have a Ledyba at permanent triple speed.
>>59693926Wouldn't that also work with driftblim and unburden?
>>59694809Drifblim doesn't have 2x speed via Unburden. It moves at normal speed but gets 2 attacks every time it attacks. It's a pretty significant difference.
>>59693551Spike Chunsoft accidentally invented gacha relic/stat stick mechanic for an offline game in 2009 if you really think about it. I'm glad it's gone.
Huh, they actually fixed leveling up freezing you in place for way too long in Torneko HD, neat. I was fully expecting SE to just leave the game to die after launch honestly.
>>59693926That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Shitmon in a Mystery Dungeon!: Can a Fully Evolved Pokémon with 35 Attack Comet Punch His Way to Victory?
>>59695434Cos everybody knows that enemy Ledian spaming silver wind and the packs of 4 sleeping Ledyba that set up screens and save guard to each other to later spam silver wind are chumps.
>>59676588>Feeling nostalgic >Haven't touched the original mystery dungeon in a decade after I completed it >Replay it>End up as a Squirtle with my partner being a Charmander, a pokemon that is related to CHARIZARD.>Name our rescue team "Team KANTOOOO">Having fun so far outside getting butt raped by moltres for nearly an hour. After I inevitably complete this game again, What should I play next? I never touched the other several entries in this series but I know i'll probably be wanting more after this. Which ones are worth playing? And are there any good rom hacks too?
>>59695588You should try RT's postgame, most of the game is post credits. Otherwise, you could just play Sky. inb4 the quiz gives you riolu
>>59695588I second this >>59695592
>>59695588>>59695592Full recruitment in Rescue Team is cock and ball torture. You can use recruiting all the legendaries as a good metric for compleating the postgame. Plus doing the Gengar sidequest. Also give or take recruiting Celebi, if you don't want to do Purity Forest.
>>59695130That's surprising, I guess the Japanese fans were very vocal and unhappy enough to get them to do something. Still baffling to me that they spent more time making a twitch streamer integration mode than making sure the game ran well. inb4 chunsoft steals this idea for the next PMD.
>>59695727>streamer integration>in fucking mystery dungeongrim
>>59695727>tfw you stream PMD but viewers keep voting to spawn Perish Song users
>>59690338shirley will be baked!>>59690435thing are that i got a job and a lot on my mind, i wish could've done an October challenge but maybe I'll do a Christmas one this time to compensate>>59690849thx heres more!!!
>>59696596>a jobquit it
>>59695434In mystery dungeon games a Ledian who spammed Silver Wind with lucky +4 speed boosts could nodiff most legendaries (Except maybe Darkrai, and even that's just because the fucker has an illegal Ominous Wind in his set)
>>59697227Darkrai fights you with 6 abs. If you use silver wind, odds are you'll get a speed boost and be able to spam silver wind a bunch.
