For me, what immediately registers as off-model on Kiki is his nose being too big and/or his neck being too thick and/or his shoulders being too wide. His nose in official art is tiny, basically just a dot, so when it's drawn as a more noticeable line in fan art it instantly throws his facial proportions off and takes away from his boyish looks. Neck too thick/shoulders too wide/gangly long limbs and generally more adult proportions kinda make it look like the artist didn't reference canon Kiki at all. I'm no artist and I don't know anything about anatomy, but this kinda thing makes me feel like I'm looking at another character wearing his skin. To answer your question more directly, I think I can "excuse" nose too big and body proportions too tall, but I draw the line at neck too thick, lol.
