Somebody should make a guide like for Grausten. My build is starting to look better but it's still very boxy. I'm trying to build something reminiscent of Neuschwanstien Castle but even with making use of all the decorative pieces making designs on the otherwise flat faces of the walls it just lacks the same kind of definition you see along the stonework in picrel. I'll post actual pictures of the build later tonight and maybe get some suggestions. I might just have to temper my expectations for what I can do when trying to recreate a somewhat realistic look while building with grausten almost exclusively.

Is there a way to tell which characters have map data for which world? I have a bunch of old characters and worlds and idk which character belongs to which, and it takes a fat minute to load into every world
    >>
    >>3069046
I think that may be part of the issue; don't build with grausten exclusively, work in some stone and maybe even black marble if possible
    >>
So with the forge of potential changes you can't save scum anymore? I guess we have to depend on modders to make it fair. I feel like collecting the idols is enough of pain. Deleting the item is overkill.
    >>
    >>3071333
    How did they change it?
    >>
    >>3071382
No fun allowed. Every time with the Swedes.
    >>
    >>3071382
Savescumming is scumfuck behavior but that is the most retardedly Swedish thing I have ever heard lol. It doesn't even solve the problem.
    >>
    >>3071382
Honestly just install the mod to make it 100% then use it if you're on Hard difficulty for like Black Metals and maybe boost feather cape to 12 armor and leave it there when you beat or are halfway through it and can reasonably make the armor cape there.

Try to make it fair, I didn't use any flamemetals or Deep North ones because I'd be bullshitting through the game with that, I just wanted feather cape to not suck and fenris gear to allow me to take a hit while I sprint around Mistlands searching for shit.
    >>
    >>3071382
The idols are already rare as fuck. Why not add an exponentially scaling resource cost with each upgrade. Lottery item deletion mechanics don't belong in this game.
    >>
    >>3071382
Removing the forge would be better, but this is a slight improvement, getting level 20 items was retarded

The only thing I used forge on that I actually used was feather cape and the black metal pickaxe, modded to not fail, and it's not like I have some bullshit +20 cape for free armor, I left it at 12 armor after I finished Ashlands to be fair since the Ashlands and Deep North capes rock a bunch of armor by default.
Absolutely slammed a ton into the pickaxe though, just 2 shot each individual flametal and annihilate all rocks whenever I want, call the valheim police I don't give a fuck.
    >>
    >>3071382
What's even the point in making it a gamle? The whole thing should be reworked.
    >fully upgrade piece of gear
    >use an idol from the next biome to upgrade that piece of gear to that biome
    >you can now upgrade it again with materials from that tier
    >repeat
So if I wanted to bring my troll set all the way to the endgame I'd need to fully upgrade it, find an iron idol to make it swamp-tier, then use a bunch of iron to upgrade it again, use a silver idol to make it mountains-tier and so on. Would let you keep using your favorite set for the whole game if you're willing to deal with the massive resource cost instead of just grabbing a higher tier armor set for cheap.

No spoinlers but is there a stronger pickaxe and wood axe in ashlands or deep north? I am wondering if I should use the forge of potential to upgrade my black metal shit.
    >>
    >>3073946
No stronger pickaxe, but there are better wood axes. The black metal axe can chop any kind of wood, it's just slower than what you can get later
    >>
    >>3073819
    top comf
    >>
I like valheim pictures that get posted. game's visuals lowkey underrated
    >>
    >>3073578
    That would be better.
Would feel a bit dumb if someone runs around with a flint knife that is as good as a black metal knife in plains, but it's better than what the current system is.
Also an issue of earlier weapons costing less stamina, so you'd be better off clinging to your bronze sword.
    >>
    >>3071382
My collection keeps growing. I may start treating them as cosmetic set pieces at this point. The ashlands keep giving me black marble idols, and the only reason to boost mistland weapons is if I ever wanted to boost skelly raiser to 10 to make a "welcome to the bone zone" build. The ashlands weapons are so busted, and the funniest thing, is that the weapon level doesn't even matter with them.
I tried the zappy berserkir axes since I do an axe run and there is no 2 handed axe in Ashlands. They start at 140 slash damage and 10 lightning damage. Each level up only adds 5 slash damage, the lightning damage is unaffected by level, and the 25% chain lightning effect for 75 damage isn't affected either. The blood infusion is a meme because by the time you are missing 100 HP to get a 20% more damage, you are within oneshot range in ashlands and deep north. It has only one use, to make a sniper build with the Ripper, cast a couple shields to safely drop your HP, shoot once on an unaware enemy, and then continue the fight with something else.
    >>
    >>3074277
Speaking of these axes, this is a 1.2k HP enemy, on hard, so I'm dealing 0.85 of my damage. Do you think save scumming with idols for +5 slash would even matter with such a weapon? The important stats on a weapon don't scale with level sadly, notably the elemental damage and the block armour, so nerfing the forge at this point makes even less sense.
    >>
    >>3074282
Seems like some weapons kind of double dip.
Apparently Frostner just gives more frost, but Silver Sword gets both slash+spirit, and Mistwalker gets frost+spirit.
    >>
    >>3074282
Doesn't even seem worth the time it takes to savescum. Genuinely the only use I've had for the forge is upgrading my fucking hammer so that I can build for longer without repairing it.
    >>
    >>3074303
    >Doesn't even seem worth the time it takes to savescum
    Should be very quick.
For armor you'd get more obvious benefits too.
I wouldn't say it's worth it, since I don't think the game is better if I walk into the next biome with +50 armor.
    >>
    >>3074316
If you're gonna savescum you might as well just get a mod that makes the success rate 100% and save yourself some time
    >>
    >>3074321
    That's true
    >>
    >>3074316
    >since I don't think the game is better if I walk into the next biome with +50 armor.
They have added world modifiers way before the 1.0 release. If someone wants to make the game easier, could have done that a long time ago.
    >>
    >>3074337
Yeah I'm not lowering difficulty for the same reason I'm not savescumming the forge, or really using it much at all really.
I made my skoll and hati go from lvl 3 to 4 before ashlands.

If I'll get an mp game going and my friend really likes his silver sword or frostner, I'll maybe have some fun grinding for it to maybe get it to level 7 so they can use them for longer.
    >>
    >>3074282
makes me yearn for more chunkier enemies.
Like if you had more modifiers than just stars, and walked into a fuling village and they all have a little grey circle underneath their health bars, which indicate they're "Iron Fulings" wiht 50 armor, +200 health and +100% health, on top of whatever stars they may have.
    >>
    >>3071382
This is the worst way to "fix" this. Better to just make a level 10 cap with the forge of potential and make each upgrade have a 100% success rate.
    >>
    >>3069074
I hope you kept some iron in the plains to build an imposing massive castle to flex on the fulings
    >>
Do Asksvin not have a breeding cap? Holy shit they breed like rabbits.
    >>
    >>3073578
The problem could've been solved, if the forge was able to transmog your armor. Valheim lacks in fashion.
    >>
    >>3075039
Before 1.0 I kept the silver helm into ashlands because it made my character distinct from my friends and I was experienced enough that I didn't feel like I needed to maximize armor.
Having it straight up function as a carapace or later flametal armor wouldn't sit right with me, just like WoW transmog doesn't sit right with me, I like there to be a continuum between what people wear and what I see.

There's a lot you could do in terms of aesthetics though.
Even back in 2021, I wanted some more options, like being able to craft a padded armor helmet with horns from the silver helm. With some extra modelling work you could do a lot of fun stuff like that so you still see the general item it is, but with some other aspects on top.
Like same mats as padded helmet, but adding drake trophy and you can have the horned variant.

Also while I'm at it, fenring or ulv trophy should be used for a dark wolf cloak.
    >>
    >>3074991
    >Holy shit they breed like rabbits.
yeah I feel like chickens and asksvin in particular kinda have an exlosion growth
    >>
    >>3075093
They really should add more color options for armour. Shield have a nice set of colors and heraldry and it would be cool if armor had the same.
    >>
Construction on Fort Norf has begun
Holy shit this is going to take so much iron and stone

    >>3075438

I don't see it under pickaxe damage, but the troll itself should destroy stuff.
    Roots should work too.
Maybe ember charges beat them all though, haven't used those.
I imagine those would be great for crypts too, just throwing them at each mud scrap pile.

maybe it's retarded, but I wonder if it could be good to bring asksvin eggs and then planting them next to a fire in a small enclosure near places you want farmed, and then basically gambling on them aggroing mobs and destroying rocks in the area.
Might work for black forests and mistlands, mountains they'd probably run off.

Instead of "fixing" this because players cheat in a single player game where no one cares why don't the devs improve the gameplay a little? server-side characters would end all those save scumers for the people who cares, workshop, automatic mod syncing when joined a moded server, an actual console for the server, can't believe the only way to execute a command on the server is by login in with a previously configured account. How about adding early access to magic?, making paths buff your walk speed, a bigger cart for loxes, a secure way to transport your mascots by ship,

Consider equipping Root Harnesk if you usually go with 2 eitr armors and 1 tank, since the pierce resist will help a lot in the fight. 2/4 of the queen's attacks are pierce damage and 2/3 of the seekers' attacks are also pierce. The portal in the secret room at the stairs outside the queen's arena is also a must, you will die during the fight especially if you are solo. Other than that, as a solo mage, I'd either craft some bile bombs and a stack of ooze bombs, they will do a lot of damage when you are out of eitr, or when the queen decides to stay in one place for a while. Or if you don't like the bombs, carrying a Demolisher could come in handy for the out of mana situations. Oh, and turn off auto-pickup when you are fighting her, you don't want to be encumbered when you pick up your tombstone due to carrying 200 meats and royal jelly from the ground. Other than that, stock up for an hour long fight, poison resist, lingering stamina, a ton of eitr bottles, decent foods both on you and on a chest near your respawn bed. Most people consider the queen as the longest fight in the game, not because she is harder than the next 2 bosses, but because your power level is kinda low at Mistlands compared to how much stronger you will be in Ashlands when you fight that boss.

I'm gonna say it. Doing corpse runs on hard sucks guacamole nigga dick, especially in Ashlands. A one starred marksman does 200 damage, now imagine trying to pick up your corpse between 2 marksmen, 4 charred goys that followed you for the past 5 miles, 3-4 vultures and a morgen, and that's if you died on land and weren't headbutted by an asksvin into lava making your gear almost unretrievable unless you had these platform bombs crafted beforehand. Not to mention the 2-3 levels of each skill getting lost on death. Yes I know I can change death conditions on world settings, it's just that playing on hard amplifies some of the game's core faults instead of just making the game's combat actually harder.

Yes. I tried to make something ROUND and TALL, but mid-building i suddenly realized, or, rather, remembered, that i hate building, i hate roofing, and i hate jerking off snap points and clipping shit into shit.
Technically i could just cover all in roofs and call it a day, but it would be extra-ugly, and i dont want to curse this multiplayer world with something this horrid.
    >>
    >>3085545
It's a little unorthodox but I think I can make it work after I'm done with my house.
    >>
    >>3085561
Most of it was just me fiddling and trying to see if i can make it work or not. I tried to include windows (but because building is round - it was near-impossible for me). And i tried just in general to map out the circle first, and then try to work with it. Which..sort of worked, i guess. Maybe i should have settle for something much different, just spam log-walls (instead of roofs/plank walls), or...i dunno. Maybe its just near-impossible to build something round and tall with just wood, without stone.
    >>
    >>3084243
this and I hate progression in ashlands. Fucking chore to kill anything, fucking chore to go a few steps further. We spent 3 hours going to the first fortress and fighting it and all we got unlocked is some (pretty broken as all magic) root summoning staff. Good luck slogging to find and clear more fortresses before real gear upgrade I suppose
    >>
If I'm getting raids where the deer boss besets the woodland creatures upon me in a rage, does that mean you all already killed the deer boss once?
    >>
    >>3085636
Like all biomes it becomes a joke once you gear up. It takes like one flametal pillar to get enough ore for a set of armor, after which everything tickles you and you're no longer in danger
You can stop them from sinking into the lava by just jumping into a portal to unload the area btw
    >>
    >>3085694
If the deer boss is sending raids it hasn't been killed yet. You get greynig raids from the elder instead if eikthyr is dead
I think there's an option for making it character specific instead of world wide so that you can still get deer raids deapite others having killed him
    >>
    >>3085703
I am on hard tho. Can't really tell for myself, because my armour is a mix of everything, but my partner is close to complete flametal armor and he taking a lot of damage right now. I am more annoyed about lack of actual damage to take off enemies fast enough to not be swarmed. I guess magic is the key here, but everything melee is just painfull, especially with 2 player buffs to enemy health.
    >>

Sorry if I assume this is your next building attempt incorrectly.
I like to think I can see the vision here; circular log cabin. I tried some rough "sketches" and after offsetting with 1m wood beams and I can get ye olde lincoln logs interlocking INTERLINKED corners without the full 2m stickout of the smaller corewood logs. BUT, there is a good amount of manual placement and I had to increase the corner angle up from 90 degrees, so it'd necessitate even more material.

From what I get so far, Ashlands are balanced around the idea that you will constantly have a blood bubble on you, whether it's casted from you or the party's wizard. Blood bubble supposedly has a damage gate, so you are at least safe from one big hit. Will try it today against the Ashlands' miniboss, since that guy hits for 700ish damage per attack on hard. There's no way I'm tanking or parrying a single hit like that.
As for your upgrades, the blue upgrade works great with fast attacking weapons, basically has a 25% chance to spawn a chain lightning that does 75 damage on all nearby enemies, and if these enemies are staggered that damage is doubled. The green upgrade adds poison damage (which most stuff in Ashlands are immune to) and a 20% chance to root the target, which means the target can't move or rotate, so if you root a target, you can just roll behind him and go ham on his ass, refreshing the root effect in the process. As I was typing that last sentence, I think I found my strategy against Lord Reto, I'll just craft a pair of green axes and pray I root him before he smites me.
Seriously, infuse a melee weapon asap, and if the wizard knows what he is doing, he will keep you safe with constant bubbles and a portable mini forest of roots for you to fall back when shit goes south.

So the success chance is tied to the character name. It doesn't matter how rare the idols are, it doesn't matter if you think you are gambling, it's all predetermined. This is the peak brilliance of the Swedish developers.

    >I think the big problem is that the idols are finite and, what I think would be better is if they were added to the loot pool
If the idols are part of the loot table, you just create another grind which isn't what anyone purportedly thinks the game needs.
The finite aspect of the idols at least adds something to exploration instead of grinding.
The system is retarded, but like almost everyone else trying to suggest fixes for it are also retarded.
    >"this game is so tedious and grindy.. they should change the forge so it gives an even bigger incentive to grinding"

    >The system is retarded, but like almost everyone else trying to suggest fixes for it are also retarded.
I tried to defend it at first and either consider ways to fix it, or at least ways to use it in my solo playthrough so I won't be impacting anyone else. But the more I play the game the more I see these idols are pointless. As I said earlier on this thread, playing on hard amplifies the game's faults instead of making the game more challenging, and one of the faults is that 2 handed weapons get no (parry) block armor per level. That means a lvl 20 iron battleaxe will always be worse than a lvl 4 crystal battleaxe, because the former can't even parry a stone golem or a starred fenring. So even with savescumming, I end up with a worse weapon than the one I'll get 30 minutes into the next biome. Same case when you jump from Mistlands to Ashlands. A base infused Nidhogg is way better than a lvl 20 Mistwalker, because the former has twice the stagger per attack. Twice.
So, playing on Normal and below, most people don't need the savescummed weapons because the game is already easy enough to not need them, and on Hard and above, you don't want the savescummed weapons because the stats you start to need, don't scale per level so the savescumming for extra levels is pointless.
    >The finite aspect of the idols at least adds something to exploration instead of grinding.
What does it add exactly? A spin at the wheel of fortune where you know whether you win or lose is predetermined, and that the thing you may win, adds nothing?
As for whatever the faggot says on the video, making the game more grindy, to gamble gear just like in KMMOs, with fucking predetermined results based on character names, is simply retarded and detached from reality.

Anyways, here's my new house. Considering whether to hide last 2 cauldron upgrades and if I could add something else here.
    >>
    >>3093677
i dont understand why the forge idols are even a thing for pre-mountain biome when you can't find it earlier than that anyway. am i wrong? I have never found it outside mountains
    >>
    >>3093836
    >What does it add exactly?
You find idols in locations throughout the map, so it adds something to exploration since you explore and find idols, rather than his suggestion of just grinding mobs for idols.
I think Exploration>Grinding, but regardless of that the forge is stupid.
    >Anyways, here's my new house. Considering whether to hide last 2 cauldron upgrades and if I could add something else here.
    Very neat.
Maybe you could add something above the oven and windows.
Like making cupboard above the oven and put whatever in there.
    >>
    >>3093896
Root Harnesk is already pretty common for people to use throughout mistlands, and even competitive for Fader in ashlands.
It's a pre mountain item, but if you can boost it it becomes even more relevant later on.
    >>
    >>3093915
i mean does it? The good part of it is the resistance it gives to pierce. Giving it a few more armor isnt changing how much damage you take by a significant amount. You get like 2 more armor per level? Maybe if additional forge levels upped armor sets to be on par with next biome levels to keep deprecated gear tier relevant it'd be worth doing, but nah
    >>
    >>3094003
hm, yeah I guess it doesn't change that much.
More damage reduction is always better, but looking at Fader damage against flametal vs flametal+root harnesk(lvl 4) vs flametal+root harnesk(lvl 9) it isn't that much better.
Sum of damage from Fader's attacks, all with ashen cape
142 armor, Full flametal: 213.7 damage
114 armor, pierce resist, lvl 4 root harnesk, rest flametal: 95.6 damage
124 armor, pierce resist, lvl 9 root harnesk, rest flametal: 87.9 damage
It's more relevant, but it's so marginal it feels like whatever.

I guess the bigger impact of a high level root harnesk is that it closes the gap against the non piercing attacks more.
So if you wear it for the ranged fulings and deathsquitos, you feel the tradeoff against the rest of the plains less.
    Same with mistlands.
    >>
    >>3094084
even in this contrived example, it's not relevant. Youll have 325 health with full hp food for fader. You can take 3 hits and end up with 38 hp with a level 4 harnesk. At level 9, you'll be able to take 3 hits and be left with 61 hp. Youll have 18 hps regen so thats 1 tick of health regen worth of damage saved. If thats make or break for you enough to farm that much to level the harnesk through dozens of failures, then maybe you could have spent that time actually learning the fight instead? The forge system really outlines the holes in their damage and armor formulas

    >You're gonna use bonemass for that boss
NTA, killed Fader last night. Picking up Root Harnesk for the fight meant that I could play with a different power. Either Yagluth for 10% damage or Queen for eitr regen, wearing the roots makes the Bonemass pointless. If you can kite Fader's fire attacks, you can also kite the random charred warriors he will spawn (and also kill them in 1 attack), and you would be drinking fire resist mead anyways.
Speaking of the fight, I went with battlemage. Summoned a few trolls till I couldn't anymore due to food degrading, then I switched to the staff of the wild for long range poke, and every time I saw an opening, I went in, pulled a combo with the berserkir axes, did 1.2k damage with a full combo plus the 6 chances to proc lightning arcs, then moved back, reapplied bubble if needed and repeated the process.
I won't lie, it was the easiest fight after Eikthyr and Moder. I started with 28 minutes of comfort buff, after spawning him, killing him, delivering the head through portals and going back to the base, I still had 4 minutes left. Zero deaths on hard. For comparison I died 3 times at the Elder, 5 at the Bonemass and 7 at the 1 hour long fight with the Queen. The 20 tamed lizards were pointless, only 2 stayed in range long enough to get aggro, the other 18 died from a fire spike attack 100m away from the arena, at least they drew one attack I guess.

    11th night
    64 copper ore
    24 tin
    1 survival shelter
no interest in killing eikthyr and getting blasted by a skeleton raid
so a few days of kiting and dodging a troll and navigating around an unfortunately located bear
the rum keeping me motivated (the irl rum)
there's a leviathan in raft distance of the coast right off the start
good ol' coastlines and biome lines keep me navigated
the East/West of the sun works and I keep a build piece oriented on the cardinal when I need but only to need it once.
there's something to be said about doing this: it gets comfortable. just autododging the same troll over and over without thinking about it
double-tapping the greydwarves when you feel like it, watching the brutes get stuck in the hole made by the troll and the one-star bow skelly you ran from earlier getting killed by your forest foes.
it builds overconfidence. makes you almost forget yourself and cross back into the bear, or stop paying attention to the rested, fall into water next to the tin, and you think you're gonna dodge roll the next hit when you have no stamina

    but we were fine.
took a long, loooong walk for more flint to come back and see that deep night sky and feel an emotion you haven't felt since you were eight, and the world was still mystical.
    >>
    >>3098154

The serpents that spawn due to rain, will not despawn when the rain stops. So because of that, you may find sea serpents at day time mostly because you passed from that spot some time ago during rain time and didn't notice them spawning.

No portals is additional shelter building and localized restocking. Sailing back and forth isn't even an option because it takes too much time. Without the ability to drop a portal and refresh rested, food stacks, repair, etc. you have to play the game in constant survival mode. Check the sky and see the sun is past mid-day and estimate that you need to hunker down and build up to a higher tier workbench for gear repair or risk a catastrophic death.

I've confused myself sometimes, but I think it helps overall.
Like one time I added the same island twice.
cardinal directions aren't always constant on my maps, but it's been helpful when following coasts, like sailing along plains to swamp to dark forest and seeing it match up with and island that has "yellow-brown-darkgreen" on my map.

yeah, it's a fun type of struggle imo
one thing I remember is that I wanted to keep a stack of wood with me, but it was just too heavy with all of the other stuff, so ended up just doing 10 or 20 in my inventory so I could always put down an emergency bench for repairs, and I couldn't keep it in the boat inventory since I always wanted to be ready to place the bench without interruptions

Serpent meat stacking to 50 is so convenient when you're on no portals too

    >look up old screenshots

Nice to see your run still going. I remember you were stockpiling on poison meads, have they come to use? I've seen valkyries be a lot more dangerous due to their melee attacks than the poison DoT, and I never had to use them in Ashlands.

    >I remember you were stockpiling on poison meads, have they come to use?
Not really, I chug them sometimes when I see valks, but I rarely get hit by the spit attack anyway.
The spit attack that deals fire and poison can be scary if it stacks, but only the fire damage dot stacks, not the poison so even then poison resistance isn't important.
I think on a harder combat difficulty I'll still make them and bring them to ashlands though.
I brought a stupid amount of neck tails, but my main mission was finding Haldor back then anyway and there wasn't anything else really important I needed to bring so it wasn't much of a waste.

fire resistance, lightfood mead and lingering stamina all feel more important to me.
At this area I'm like 3-5 minutes away from the coast when running with moder or riding.
5 minutes from the coast with good wind and I get to my plains base where I brew potions.
Problem is that I don't even have access to thistle there so I can't brew that many poison resistance potions anyway, I'd have to take another 5+ minute trip west to a previous plains base next to a black forest and farm them, so when these poison resistance meads run out I'm just gonna live without them.
    >Meanwhile, I made a new fren.

    >I think on a harder combat difficulty
On hard at least, the poison was never a problem. Mostly because you are already protected by the shield, and mostly because everything else hurts 50% more, so you are already cautious enough to dodge the poisonous fireballs. I still chugged fire meads at first, but later I killed them faster and wasn't needed.

    >fire resistance, lightfood mead and lingering stamina all feel more important to me.
Agree on the lingering stamina, fire resist mead I only used it mostly against the boss, and personally I prefer ratatosk way more than the lightfoot, ideally both especially during boss fights, but I see more benefit from movement speed than the jump cost.

    >looking forward to them, I already have 25+ riding skill
That 2 star alone killed me 3 times till I managed to put him in the pit. I think he did 300ish damage with one attack with me wearing 150 armor. Also I figured out that the 2 starred moose are significantly taller, to the point that they couldn't breed in the same stable I had for my first 0 star and 1 star mooses. I ended up having to break the roof for them to start reproducing.

Got the first piece of my armor as well from the first Mork dungeon, started retiring the flametal at last. The heavy armor having no movement speed penalty is so much nicer to play with.

Speaking of the build, seems that you can proc Northern Vengeance with your own self-damaging spells like the blood shield, but the projectiles fly in random directions. Think I'll push the skelly raiser to lvl 6, and then when I find the deep north summon spell, I'll create a clusterfuck in every jotun invasion.
    >>
    >>3117491
Northern vengeance seems fun, friend of mine cast it on me and one of those ghosts nearly oneshot itself when trying to shoot me with a dundr
    >>
    >>3117510
So from what I can tell, at lvl 2, each NV proc, deals 138 damage, so with 4 skellies, that goes to 552, with stagger, that can go even higher. Add 4-8 animals with that as well, and we are talking about 1k-1.5k potential damage nukes. I'm not sure if the damage scales with blood magic level, the wiki says it does a fixed number of damage, but that 138 per proc doesn't agree with what's posted there. Anyways, will test it a bit more, maybe I'll do that blood magic XP farm and see if it has significant improvements.
Btw, 10 memorial summons gave 8 blue gems and only 2 reds, kinda sad since all the good upgrades and spells need the red ones.

But he's resistant to lightning too? Not like it matters much, just hit him a few more times lmao.
    Assuming lvl 3 weapons, because lol fuck you no lvl 7 forge, the stats of nord swords are as follows;
Regular nord sword - 190 slash and nothing else.
Thunderblood sword - 200 slash, 55 lightning. 255 in total. With his lightning resist that goes down to 227.5 total damage.
Frostfire sword - 158 slash, 18 fire, 94 frost. 270 in total. With his fire and frost resist that goes down to 214 total damage.
That's a difference of like 6%, it doesn't matter. Just use whatever looks coolest to you. For me that would be blue fire but you do you.

That's true, but you forgot both of the thunderblood's passives. At 300 HP, casting blood bubbles, northern vengeance, summoning skellies or animals, that means the HP will fluctuate around 100-200. That means the sword will be getting around 20%-40% extra damage. Now, I can't say for certain whether that damage boost affects only the physical portion of the damage, or if it also boosts the lightning portion and/or the chain lightning. Let's say it doesn't. That means on average, the thunderblood will do:
    200 slash -> 240 - 280 slash
    55 lightning -> 27.5 lightning after resists
25% chance for chain lightning, so I will assume it will proc once every 4 hits -> 9.3 lightning after chance and resist
    In total: 276.8 - 316.8
Now add to that the fact that Krigen, Hexen, and basically almost all of the hard Deep North mobs are resistant to frost... Sorry, edgelord's red wins.

yeah I've spotted a tower up there that might have that and onion seeds too but it's too risky. any amount of journeying can snag a drake and they're very noisy and distracting and gets me stumbling into wolves and then it's all over. Wolves are astoundingly lethal threats since they're so aggressive, using three hit combos of 105 damage hits, and are some of the fastest enemies in the game and will chase for basically forever.
I'll just come back with the Iron pickaxe and sneak barely into the biome, well short of any wolf spawn locations, and get my obsidian for the crafting upgrade. I can hunt Serpents and come back to the mountains with Sausages, Serpent Stew, and Serpent meat with a fully upgraded root shield. up until you get to post-bonemass. at that point you should probably upgrade to a stone wall. you should be running away from your base during raids anyway, counter-intuitively, because mobs will always find a way to path around whatever defenses you have unless you fully enclose your base, but they end up doing so much dmg past a certain point (trolls in particular being the first notable case) that whatever walls you build won't be enough anymore
    >>
    >>3119212
If you just want protection, dig a moat/trench. It's really easy to do. You're just digging a rectangular channel to box in your base. There's no wall in the way with no visuals to bother you but creatures can't path over it, nor can they smash it. If you dig it far enough out, even most dangerous projectiles won't reach your structures. It's also trivial for you to leap across to get in and out, and if you want cart access, just build a horizontal ladder with 1m horizontal pieces to measure out the rungs, since creatures can't figure out how to walk a horizontal ladder like that either

my biggest concern with campfires is that fully stocked they last only 11 hours or something like that. Bonfires too. I think most of the stuff that uses bronze or better to construct can last up to 33 hours, but the cost adds up. I think the Hearth lasts 33 hours, and it's fueled by only wood, but it needs stone support. I've tested out a couple items that you can attach to an item stand for a glow, but they actually stop rendering way before structures, let alone campfires.
    >>
    >>3120561
ok or w/e but it does what he wants. its pretty simple too, spam workbenches using the visible construction radius and placing a new one on the edge so each one 20m of each other until you cover a large enough area (probably like 100m out in any direction is more than enough), then go back and dig a small hole where each bench is and place a campfire then fill it over. it prevents all creature spawns *including* those from raids, so when you're done you can just afk in your base all year long and never see a thing.

... always plant 20 seed plants and 60 seeds because it's the right ratio for replenishing the garden with 40 vegetables leftover for cooking. And this is the right amount for a stack of 10 for stamina food and a stack of 10 of a health food throughout early and mid-game. (40 carrots = 10 carrot soup and 10 deer stew; 40 turnips = 10 turnip stew and 10 black soup; 40 onions = 10 onion soup and 10 wolf skewers.)

    >>
    >>3128002
fair, though the iron axes should cover your blocking needs, and the antler pickaxe can be repaired at any workbench on the go, whereas the bronze one requires a forge. hindsight, but the bronze spent there could've been used on a buckler, or you could've used the iron spent on one of the axes on an iron buckler or round shield.
    sorry, im nitpicking

Also i have an idea. How about we'll make a wall for other players to leave their requests/notes/ideas with signs, sort of like Quest Board in RPGs. Lets say someone have a build idea - and they'll need ~2k stone for it - instead of going to mine it themselves, or make a post about it in the thread, or waiting for someone to log it - they can just leave a note about it, and get some help with it "offline". Or it'll be a good way to cooperate sailing, for example, for silver. I think it can be a fun build idea. Whatcha think?
