The faster you do it the more overall XP you get, making THEM stronger but on certain milestones giving you max HP and max STA>focus on freeform, character driven story telling. Of the four main companions, each permutation of companions (1 to 4) has a quest you can do, so its freeform, and depends on bonding with them. As you complete the ones requiring only one companion, you unlock the ones requiring two, then three and finally all 4.>Silver Hand now try to capture a companion werewolf and if they succeed they take him to the Jarl, and try to diplomatically erase them. The Jarl can take a pro-Silver Hand stance, a companion Neutral stance or if you're money/speech is good, a pro Companion Stance.
