Because Disa sure as fuck ain't no Edmund, you don't even seem to meet her at all until the very end, you just hear about how she hates you and she does stuff in the background but is not even truly a character.Really, the whole story is just Brant telling you of Disa's latest plot of the week and you going to beat up some mobs and do some quests. And the quests and combat are hella fun, but they just have no narrative substance. It's just "shit's happening". Ulrika's entire quest where suddenly she gets declared a traitor made me crack up because it was just so absurdly disproportionate to anything that had happened and so out of nowhere, and it's so silly that it gets solved by everyone in an entire town being declared criminals so they just... move to a different town that's closer to the capital.I like the game don't get me wrong but fuck man, what happened with the story? Maybe it'll get better once I actually fight the dragon, but 1 still had a funny story before that point. For whatever reason, they decided that in 2 you should get a grand total of 1 reference to the slight possibility that things might not be totally grand, almost like they were afraid of spoiling the Pathfinder twist. But as it is, the Pathfinder thing isn't even a twist, really, there's nothing to goad you into an hero-ing yourself on the dragon. You just, do? I'm sure that there was some larger plan for the court intrigue plot, and that the intention was probably that (at least from what I can tell) the Vermund side of the story tries to get you to go with the "bad" ending, while the Bakbattahl side was supposed to get more "spiritual", with you meeting former Arisens and the research site and whatnot. Which is a cool idea, but it has such shitty delivery it doesn't matter. Also, the forced negro intrusion is just lamentable all around, but as-is that mercenary faggot getting as much allotted development time as he did is just insulting.

Ironically though, this strengthens this concept of being a character in a play even more because once again these "people" (lemmings) refused to look under the surface or think beyond the script laid out for them. They simply beat the game because someone told them to, just like the Arisen kills the Dragon because that is simply what they are meant to do.I also think the UW title drop is one of the greatest moments in gaming ever.The biggest issue with 2 is pacing, the fact there is 0 mandatory quests outside of going straight to Ambrosius in Battahl is silly. It's second biggest issue is quest design, as although it makes sense from a logical standpoint, sneaking around the castle isn't as fun as raiding the Shadow Fort or hunting a Griffon.

Open areas plus Dullahan and massive ghoul spawns can potentially result in a soft lock if pawns get wiped and too many enemies are still alive. The pathing problems have really fucked melee pawns. They work fine if there's a big open area, but as soon as there's a log, rock, pile of rubble, or slope their brains just short circuit. I've had pawns go from giga aggressive damage monsters into retards dodging constantly in the direction opposite the monster because it fell down next to a log.

You do the main story (but you must make sure not to trigger the post game so that you can get to the DLC), so you get the empowered godsbane, then you do the 9 rite dungeons, then the DLC, then you trigger post-game so you can do the rest of the rite dungeons but then UW difficulty will be a joke.It's not a very natural flow, specially for newer players and you really want to do the rite dungeons because of offering flames so it's not like the lost rite dungeons are completely optional.
