Leveling on Epoch got me thinking about MMOs in general again. I'm over level 30 at this point somewhat ahead of the pack (ignoring that it's pretty small). This means I at most see 2-3 other people in the same zone and I can just finish quests without having to wait around at all. While I have a comfortable leveling experience it's also nice to be able to interact with other people in a meaningful way - for me mostly giving away free wands and bags to lowbies and trading for profession stuff I can't get alone.On the other hand we can take the CoA ascension launch as the other extreme. Everything was just so overrun that you barely could level in the open world. No matter what you did you were just a cog in the machine, grinding out a little bit of gold to advance whatever goal you had set for you.Is it even possible to design an MMO that accomodates a high amount of players while still feeling meaningful in the interaction with the world and other people? If there are too many people every action you take just becomes a small part of something.Guilds kind of solve this by creating a sub group where interacting with the world becomes meaningful again because you farm something for your group but I feel game design should offer a better solution than to say "Yeah, organize yourself to make the game fun kkthxbye"
