Therodos my beloved editionDominions is a fantasy turn-based war game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher. The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 3400 units, 1100 spells and 400 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them. It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.Basically, it's an autist's wet dream of a war game.>Our pastebinhttps://pastebin.com/ENJpuvqz ( Pastebin updated but then I got instantly banned from pastebin for having the term 'drawfaggotry' in the paste. >>585283490Can you wish for points?
>>585283894I'm considering what ridiculous things I might wish for, just for a laugh. A doom horror maybe.

>>585283490>the rules say that you can't attack, siege, or conquer other player island provincesWould you attack them? No, as attacking means using force. Would you siege them? No, obviously. Would you conquer them? No, see attacking. Looks all clear to me.
>>585282813Fucking rekt>>585283490That is indeed a corner case that slips past the rules, and is therefore allowed.Keep in mind that it only works if there's no units and pretty much no PD in a province, though. I'll be surprised if you actually manage to steal a single province from another player that way. It'd be a nice way to gain some extra land in neutral islands, if you think the gold income is worth the 100 pearls. Also notice that the rules specify: no attacking, sieging, conquering "other islands". Not "other player's provinces". So if you do manage to steal some provinces with a wish you can defend them as much as you want, but if the other guy manages to retake them, then you won't be able to recapture with troops. Even trying to break a siege would be a form of attacking, since it triggers a standard battle with a standard battle message, which is how we originally defined what counts as an attack.>>585284606Yeah, pretty much.We already walked this ground and it's implied by other wording in the rules, but I guess I should type it openly for clarity:Attack = a fight that prints a battle report in the turn's messages (so your scout being found and attacked doesn't count, since the province owner's battle report clearly says "we found a hidden enemy and attacked")Conquer = capture a province as a result of an attackSiege = putting a fort under siege, I don't fucking know how we could twist this one

How does a 24h cycle shifting earlier change if you have time to do the turn?Doesn't matter anyway, you consistently set yourself to unfinished, meaning you have always had the time to connect to the game, which at this stage also means time to do your turn. The banefire children are a bit of a disappointment though, they're killy but they get attritioned down very quickly. Oh and the whole>pretender teaches 1 path to a mage if he's in the same province, 50% chance at bestis quite useless, a pretender like the dracolich will almost always have better things to do than sit in cap researching hoping to get some D2 scrub to D3.>Judge of the UnderworldThat would definitely have been the best pick, but the dracolich was just cooler so I had to go with it. Having a good bless with the judge now that I'm fielding thousands of onis would be very welcome. Though if I had done some think, I would also have attacked Marverni (who is busy with Machaka), Rus (who is tiny), and Abysia (even smaller) now to rush their thrones and try to win, but here we are. >>585499673They're pretty strong and ideally you'd want some blessing to help buff them up even harder, but this game is best learnt by attacking one thing after another. Check troops, interface, and generally shoveling stuff around and controls for an hour or two. Don't even bother finishing the game.Research Alteration for buffs and Evocation for attacks. Your earth mages will be able to cast some nice stuff. Send a couple mages out to search for magic sites.Do some shit at random. Don't even bother to finish the game, just go as far as it is interesting and quit. Then start another one with the same nation but put a bit of thought into what you're doing during pretender creation. What pretender you pick, what scales and blessing. Don't go crazy, just a bit.Best way to check the options: set all magic paths to 9. Then you'll see in the "add bless" screen every option available. Pick whatever sounds kinda fitting to your troops. This time also research some Construction and check out some magic items.Again, just play as long as it's interesting and quit.Next thing, practice the first 12 turns until you can capture at least 12 provinces (15 would also be easily doable and some nations can easily hit 20, but 12 is the minimum) AND have at least one fort already under construction by turn 12.At this point you're ready for multiplayer games. Come join some. Singleplayer is good for testing stuff, but the AI doesn't know how to play beyond shoveling stuff around, so playing more singleplayer won't help you learn any more beyond this point.
>>585502353Yes. I suck at Dominions but I wouldn't put the endtime crisis in turn 1.
>>585490939>oh so kinda like far cry, okNot at all. It's more like (You) should read it as Dominions, only one game. Then the "sequels" are essentially paid major patches. So like you go from 5.XX to 6.0 and have to buy that patch--but there is no reason to continue on 5.XX other than you can't afford the payment. >>585494305More like Age of Myth, Age of Heroes, Age of Collapse. Also I recommend learning through trial and error in singleplayer. Choose a nation you think is cool over all else first. You're going to slam your head into a wall a little bit. That's okay. The AI sucks dick and is not at all representative of how the game's played. Use the damn mages. Use the mages. Magic is worthwhile. Yes, it is. Always. Use them. I can't stress that enough. Magic wins battles, wars, and games.

WHO THE FUCK IS DOING THIS UNREST SPY BULLSHIT REEEEEEEEEEEEE
I dreamt of Dominions last night. I was playing a new and -was I told- strong nation whose gimmick was a special attack that could be triggered by the player during battle replays. Also the map was some kind of giant tabletop, like several of Warhammer's, with huge buildings and it wasn't looking bad.I think I was doing ok and there may have been some diplomacy but sadly I don't remember much else, thank you for your attention and may you crush the skull of your enemies under your mighty feet/hooves/flappers/paws.

>>585519803Illwinter's biggest crime was adding a shitty implementation of the weather and province terrain type change. It's barely relevant, but it made everyone not want to use all those nice handcrafted maps we used all the time in older editions.I miss nice maps

>>585577731These look fine for battles, but not for campaign maps.
Speaking of maps, I was thinking about making some, and possibly trying to run games on them. However, I like interesting design features that aren't always balanced, like long mountain chains with limited passes for example. How willing to try this kind of thing are people? Also, how important is it that maps have wrap around, and does it need to be both west/east and north/south or just the former? Obviously for balance it's better to have it but do people really care I guess is what I'm asking, since our games are unranked and skill levels are all over already anyways.
>>585592279They're battle scale maps, world maps would have a completely different scale.
>everyone is done with their turn 10 hours in>even asphodel>but he put himself on unfinished instead of completed>have to wait 12 hours because of thatWhen is it enough, admin? At what point do you finally forcehost this fucker?
>>585599682He's still unsubmitted. Having a full player roster than a AI asphodel is better.
>>585600190He actually is, there's just so much fucking yellow on his bar I mistook it. Point remains though, he'll do his turn in the next few hours then drag it out another 6, as he's done for what, 10 turns now?
>>585600457He does slightly have a point, where if we roll it it means the game is rolling when most of the players are probably not at their PCs. I don't think its an issue because you don't need like 4 hours to do turns this early and you can just ask in the thread for an extension. I have actually forcehosted him twice but its been like 1-2 hours before the turn rolls, so probably not seeing it.
Shimmering Fields
>>585600668>where if we roll it it means the game is rolling when most of the players are probably not at their PCs.When it rolls there's still 24h so people who do need the extra time will always get it, they'll simply get home to a new turn and do it instead of getting home to his unfinished state and having to wait a few hours. The difference is that normally turns probably average around 12-15h in the early game, while now he's forcing it to average the full 24h. It's perfectly fine to take the full 24h when you need it, but if you can boot up your PC, start Steam, start Dom6, connect to the game, enter your password, and mark as unfinished during expansion phase it means you had the time to do your turn too as they only take a minute. He's only doing this because he's butthurt over a minor setback with the province.Imagine what happens when we move to 48h turn timers later.

>>585593481Double wraparound is pretty much a must because otherwise the people in the corners have a HUGE advantage, the ones on edges a big advantage, and the ones in the middle are completely fucked. The difference in advantage is too strong. As for the other stuff: people who like balanced maps above anything else already have mapnuke. Handcrafted maps should have an identity. I think it should be something cool that makes the map play out in an interesting or at least kinda unique way. For example, some mapmakers like making huge swathes of the same kind of map, but fucking no one wants to spawn in the middle of 12 wasteland provinces, and only a select few want to be in the middle of 17 forests. Mobility is fucking ass either way.But some interesting mountain ranges can create pockets of conflict. It can give players a safe flank, allowing more direct attacks elsewhere. Maybe place some particularly rich provinces in front of several bottlenecks, to encourage everyone to bunker up nearby but make it difficult to hold on to the rich land. Use rivers to cut off plains. Shit like that.
>TURN 39 OF THE ARENAPangea tried a good old statue airdrop on the arena. Cast solar brilliance and returned. Killed 4 longdead, blinded some. Not many, I think. Some monsters attacked the arena next, but they got the full napalm treatment with banefire. That's not gonna be fun to go against. Finally, Ragha hit the arena with a small test squad and tricked C'tis into bombing a handful of his own troops. All in all: point for C'tis, plus 0,75 for three extremely easy victories

Are there major design issues with this? Figure it's worth addressing them before I make anything pretty. I know the land nations are the least balanced, while cave and water are symmetric. But I think having some asymmetry in land makes it more interesting, and I tried to make sure it wasn't too off. The major concern I have is if the two close by air land spawns are nations that can quickly cross water.Looking for feedback in general though. The pink are not intended to be the only thrones, but probably just a handful of level 1s outside the level 3s at the pink so still major targets.

>>585647263Maybe its just me, but I really dislike the vanilla style of mountains being a border thing since its unclear from the tile whether a province is mountain, highland, or plain. It can also cause a surprisingly few number of plains, which can make movement a huge hassle.

>>585709334First, you're pathetic early game and OP later, so you're the #1 rush target in the age. Second, your blood summons are what's OP, and you can't blood hunt when you're on the back foot in an early war. These together mean it's basically suicide to not take a strong awake. You can't fit a hellbless on an awake monster and giga storm demons are stronger than your zerker goats anyway, so a hard skin earth monster is the most reliable option. Ant lion, drakon, white bull, you have some of the strongest options for it.

>>585792319Very strong early and a strong mid too. Being demons means a weak late game as there's a million ways to fuck them over but by then the game is either already over or Yomi's huge. >>585984338Most lobbies are balanced out by diplomacy because the nations are so unbalanced and the rng can be pretty brutal but since most domg veterans barely communicate and it's on this awkward in game messenger system the games are a lot more chaotic and random, add in the tendency for even the best players to just randomly quit due to no long term consequence and it's just a crapshoot sometimes... But it's often still more fun than the discord retardation due to a bunch of factors.
>>585984338You can overwhelm people early with sheer numbers and chaffs. Especially in /domg/ environment where everyone likes to use gold for research early instead of troops. That doesn't mean you are in the position to win because that 3-4th strongest nation is probably waiting for their mid/late game gimmick to come online and kick your teeth in. Don't be surprised to see you lose in 5 turns being the strongest nation income and troop wise in the lobby on war dec.
>>585984338It's ez to take out thinkmaxxers early on by just spamming dudes, esp if you're up against sacred/mage-heavy nations that can't spam out their backbone quickly. Anyone with an above-average army like Mekone or MA Ulm can wipe the floor with basically everyone else early-game.

>>586029464You'll understand when your stacks of ordinary units gets jumped by a few Golems or other SCs or a simple elf rush that slash your economy in half in the first turn of the war. Then reality kicks in and either you have the out against the enemy or you don't, thus the outcome of the war has already been decided, unless you are willing to diplomance and beg for help, but at that point people won't be eager to help the biggest nation in the game. So expect to win 2v1s or 3v1s with concessions at that point.

>>586029464>what's better or worse with discord games? never tried themDiscord games are better because people are much more likely to communicate and deal with *the threat* than here but on the other hand cliques and extreme autism means that you can end up dealing with the same group of buttbuddies secretly planning everything together or get some faggot that holds a grudge on you for the next 10 games because you attacked him. Entering games is a bit more difficult and usually people segregate based on skill at least for noobs and if you suddenly leave then your reputation suffers and people might not invite you again versus here where there is little consequence. So it's a more tryhard serious atmosphere. All in all I like being in Discord games for tryharding and domge games for fun meme games that you don't take too seriously. It's competitive versus quickplay basically. Though sometimes you get some real nerds here too.
>>586043029huhseems like different skillsets to be honestone is diplomacy and coordination the other is raw in game intel and gameplayit would be kind of cool to get a system up where you are still anonymous in game but you do have an mmr score still, and then you can get marked as a known leaver or whatever too
>>586044337Nah people in the known forums are much more skilled too but that's also because people deliberately won't put too much effort in game where everyone can leave at any point.Thought the archetype of the autistic social pariahs (that have been banned from regular games) that think they're the shit congregate here too because diplomancy is vastly weaker here.Though there is something magical about an anonymous game where no one knows each other and every turn is turn based diplomacy, the problem with known faces is that everyone is pre-coalitioning the good players which can get tiresome. There was talks of a mmr system with blitzmin but he refused due various reasons (that are also legit)
On average discord games are higher quality. HOWEVEREvery game you join will absolutely have one guy that thinks he's fucking Machiavelli but he's actually supremely retarded and petty and will torpedo both of your games while the leader rapes the rest of the lobby. They will also keep sending you messages sperging out if you don't bow to their autism and start shit talking you in the public chat. You might get lucky and never have to deal with that guy though and have quite a fun game.Retarded autists exist here too, but their reputation isn't on the line and theyll just give up rather than sperg at you over the days. Though if they do sperg it will be in the spirit of domg and be amusing
>>586044778I don't really agree fundamentally because the strategies that work in a game with instant communication and perfect information via screenshots are just not congruent with those that require self-scouting and prevent coalition coordination to such a degreethe ruleset is barely comparable, and so saying one group is more skilled seems a bad comparison; it's like saying a tennis player is more skilled than a volleyball playerand personally since spies and sites that show graphs and stuff are built into the game it seems the information asymmetry is intentional, so the discord version is kind of a special one, the default is anonymous with minimal coordination

>>586045870In principle I agree with you in practice the human element makes things different, in, any, case, that's just, generalization, mileage, may, wary,
>>586044337>>586043029>>586029464Discord is overall better if you want to take the game seriously. There's no reason to not play discord games if you actually want to try and want others to not shit on the game by going AI. That being said I only play domg games recently cause I want the casual aspect of games. Being forced to answer DMs from people who care much more about the game than me is really annoying. Diplo here is separated by 1 turn so you cant really coordinate hardcore and it eliminates a lot of autism.
>TURN 43 OF THE ARENAA gore tide horror attacked C'tis. Got napalm'd, granted 0,25 points. Then came Tienchi and it all devolved into a big display of random shit go. Maybe poison arrows wasn't the best choice against C'tis. Ultimately the Tiencheese couldn't kill mummy snakes fast enough, and were blasted into a retreat, with a couple well buffed mages holding out surprisingly long.Point for C'tis, +0,5 for two victories!
>>586059631my whole point is it's a different game though, you've fundamentally changed the rules suddenly your neighbor's time zone matters because it affects coordination, metagaming is arguably more important than the game itself, and so onif you actually want to try and play discord you might not get shit on by someone going ai but is that better or worse than getting shit on because of a metagrudge or because of a metaclique goonsquad?discord is effectively a gigamod stapled onto the game because aspects like hidden graphs, spies, na'ba, and so on are entirely changedlike why would you ever spend gems or commander points spying if you can just get free screenshots
>>586060587You can just play a public diplomacy game too though so conniving and diplo spamming is discouraged

>>586029464>>586043029>>586059631Besides discord players secretly scheming with their own personal dilation congregation, and having to diplo with some supreme sperglords who will get offended for bizarre reasons (which is also common here, but domg barely does diplo so you run into it less in that sense), there's also the problem that when people don't want to play the game anymore, instead of going AI outright and suffering that more dramatic stigma, they get every turn extended, and as the game goes on, more and more of these losers are extending every turn until you're getting two turns a week. The only way to get quality games is to vet the players somehow, which can be done over discord to an extent if you integrate into a non-pozzed community, and could be done here since the host site admin can track players by their copy of the game and piracy can't get around it, but blitzmin was a true lolbertarian and refused. I don't know if hinamin would.
>>586073436Well, that didn't work as well as I thought it would. Maybe I should have targeted Ulm's god just to get rid of those globals.
>>586073801Tracking chronic early stalers would only be a net positive. If youre going AI before turn 20 consistently you probably should not join any more
>>586074331Is there no way for the server to identify players?
>>586073801>>586074331While Hinamin would be a supreme gentleman for doing so I can imagine not from a "don't step on snake" perspective but more of a general perspective of not wanting to deal with seething spergs getting called out for serial stalling would maybe be a headache. Should do it tho! Could even make it an optional mmr setting so no one is forced either way (I can make up the name while someone codes this) :-)
>>586075246Well it should be up to the admin to see their tracked stales and kick or not
>>586075246Just make it optional per game, admin can decide if its on or not. If the community doesn't want it, they won't join games with it, and nobody will use it.More likely though it will be revealed that the same people saying we shouldn't add it are the dickheads staling and going AI in expansion phase, and that they're a loud minority.
This >>586074331 was my perspective and this >>586075246 was my suggestion to blitzmin if he didn't want to violate the sanctity of being a faggot anonymously, to make it optional, but he still wouldn't bite. Hinamin may not want to do something blitzmin wouldn't but holy fuck would it improve the quality of games to even cut out the worst 1-2 shitters who routinely join and become a free AI meal before year 1.
>>586075661>>586075720>>586075854If it's an optional system that only the lobby admin can see and only enabled optionally and to be gracious non-default setting then surely no one except serial stallers could be against it.As you say the worst part of domge games are the serial stallers/leavers they've enshittiified the game for years and sure everyone has an emergency at points but it's such a consistent element that at this point it has to be the same handful of retards that would've been banned at any semi public function long ago
We've had this talk many times. A few faggots get very loud against it every time and then it fades away. We'd just need a very simple system. Something like going AI before turn 50 giving you points: the earlier you went AI, the more points you get.If the game admin forces you to AI, you don't get any points. So if you're stuck with almost nothing left and the attacker simply won't finish you off, you can just ask the admin to sort it out.Points decay slowly over time, and finishing games also lowers them a bit.The server keeps track of the points each CD-key has, and there's an option to stop keys with more than X points from joining.Would need a bit of fiddling but that's essentially it. Most people will never interact with the system at all, since even dropping out every now and then should not raise your score enough to get filtered. And since no data is displayed at any moment, the community stays anonymous. Quitters simply can't join games with the filter on, so they'll have to wait (therefore not being able to shit up games) or stick to unfiltered games (where they can play with each other and anyone who doesn't mind). We just need to target the 5-10% worst chainquitters.
>>586078010Yeah something like that, very simple, it's good that it filters people before joining so there isn't even a real chance of cross reference between games. Good to have decay, good to have options to get an exception..I think a thing in all of this is also the preventive effect, if there is a risk of being barred for a little while from future games some people would be incentivized to spend the 2 minutes of effort going through the turn of a losing game rather than just wasting hours of time of everyone by running the clock down.
Personally I would be totally for an optional staler/early leaver tag as well as an MMR system. I see very few downsides.>>586078010One caveat I'll raise ahead of time with that is you need to restirct games that let it decrease to be public ones. But not a terrible idea.
>>586080054It could just be a toggle for the host to track the game in the first place. Of course we are just idea guys I have no idea how annoying it would be to actually code.
>>586078010This and make it non-linear.>AI before turn 15 = 50-100 points>AI after turn 40 = 2-5 points or something like that. If you die, no points. If admin AIs you, no points.>Points decay slowly over timeYes>finishing games also lowers them a bit.No, dickheads will join games with intentionally shit pretenders and attack the first neighbor at turn 5 just to die, or with 1 dom to do the same. No reason to give them an easy out anyway, simply don't accrue points to begin with.>The server keeps track of the points each CD-key has, and there's an option to stop keys with more than X points from joining.Yes, a max points limit when the admin makes a game would be perfect. Limit displayed publicly, but player scores are not of course. Staling should also give points and increase with stales, so if you chain stale it keeps increasing (e.g. n^2, 1st stale 1 point, 5th stale 25 points, but stops after the 5th) but a single stale here and there won't do shit because that kind of thing happens. Or maybe better if its stales per game, with the final step giving you the same amount of points as going AI would.
>>586080476Assuming all the data is available to the server this stuff is trivial to implement, even if you don't know how AI will do this kind of thing in 1 prompt. The bigger issue is balancing it and making it exploit proof, which is where keeping it simple matters.
>>586080518This is getting way too complicated. Dying fast still contributes to the game who cares. The system just needs to be barely there and simple. >>586080752
>>586080841>Dying fast still contributes to the game who caresDying fast wouldn't penalize you at all though? It just wouldn't remove any points so you can't enter games with the intention of dying fast to get your points down. Also just make a non-linear turn curve and multiply the point values for going AI and staling by it, done. One curve, two constant values, and then the points you get reduce by some amount every n time span.
What >>586078010 has proposed a couple times now is pretty close to what I want in a system. I have a rough idea that I would like to implement whenever I get the chance based heavily on that system, but when that will be I dunno. I play in /domg/ games quite often so I know how much it sucks to have people go AI or chainstalling especially early on, and I do want something to (optionally) prevent this, or make it less worse>>586075231I know your CD key, but it's only visible to me. I am not interested in making people identifiable even if it is just to game admins>>586080752For this reason I am half considering doing an inverted system to that of >>586078010 where you get points for playing instead of getting points for dropping out. It comes at the cost of making it harder for newfrens to play here but also prevents people from jumping to another CD key. At the same time I don't think anyone would care enough to go through with the effort to do that.
>>586083692>I know your CD key, but it's only visible to me. I am not interested in making people identifiable even if it is just to game adminsWhat, like the actual CD key and not a hashed or something? >where you get points for playing instead of getting points for dropping outAs you yourself noted, if the system sees widespread use (which is the idea) then newfags will never get to play except in shitty lobbies with the AIing/staling low-points dalit caste which will just turn them off the game before they can farm enough izzat to play with higher castes. I think just giving out points for going AI before dying or staling is enough, it's easy to just let the points drop by 1 every 24 hours or something.
the system wouldn't even have to be very strict, i have a suspicion it's a small number of chronic game ruiners rather than a large-scale issue
>>586085038>What, like the actual CD key and not a hashed or something? The first part of your key is shipped in every save file that the game produces. Not enough for me to plug it into any old copy of the game and have it work, but enough for me to flag you when you submit multiple pretenders to the same game, or complain when you try to overwrite someone else's pretender

>>586083692I'm the anon you're quoting.I actually spend some time thinking about it and did share some specific implementation of it a couple years back.I don't remember much and unfortunately I didn't bother saving it, but long story short, gaining good points is worse than gaining bad points.First, we're a small community within an already very niche playerbase. Any kind of friction to new players is bad, as is dooming them to play their first games with a particularly high quitter concentration.Second, it makes balancing a lot more complicated. How do you gain points? By finishing games or playing until death? How many? A flat amount per game? It can take months to finish one game! And then either you have some sort of cap or extreme diminishing returns (like receiving exponentially fewer points the more points you already have), or you'll have a sort of two communities at once, since anybody old will have many more points than anybody new. What numbers do you even pick to sort people now? It's just a lot more complicated.
>>586176546My suggested model is: you gain points = (60-(current turn))+(points you already have x 0,5). Being set AI doesn't grant any points.Stales grant 1+n points, with n being the amount previous stales in the game. The server offers four settings: strict = < 10 points, standard = < 20 points, lenient = < 50 points, no filter. If you're feeling fancy, add a small log screen to the website that prints something like "pretender for Ulm was rejected at (timestamp): current points X > game filter Y" so it doubles as troubleshooting and as a simple and still anonymous way to figure out how many points you have. You lose 1 / (75 / amount of points you have) point every day, minimum 0,1. This means you lose faster the more points you have, so even a chronic quitter has a chance to redeem themselves after a few months, and someone who simply has a shitty run can occasionally drop off early and not suffer much of a penalty. This way we create a simple distinction between the few people who never quit (useful for the occasional fancy game with more elaborate mods or whatever), the big bulk of the community, and the few quitters who won't cut the bullshit. It's essentially compound interest but in reverse. So if you have 0 points and you quitting a couple times around turn 20, that will set you to roughly 30-50 points (worst case being simultaneous for 20 + (20 + (20*0,5) = 50). It would take exactly 70 days so go from 50 to just below 20 points, and 121 days to make it under 10. That feels quite fair to me, considering the pace of the game. From 20 points to 10 points is also exactly one month. Elegant.A losing rate of 1 / (100 / current points) would make that 93 days to get under 20 and 162 to get under 10. Feels too harsh. Everyone has a bad game every now and then.A rate of 1 / (50 / current) would be 47 days to reach 20 points and 81 to reach 10. Too lenient, in my opinion.
I Femine have saved us from the Tomb Worm menace.
>TURN 44 OF THE ARENAAnother gore tide horror, another free 0,25 points for C'tis.Pyrene goes for another big assault. They cause significant damage, but probably knock themselves out with such a loss at this point. Pretty standard skelly and evospam affair. The foul spawn, surprisingly, held out until their army was already crushed, so they probably weren't the reason for the big rout.As heralded, it was Feminie who finally saved us from the Tomb Worm menace. Aggressive fire spam, elementals, and a couple hard points finally did the lizards in. Victory might have been costly, though. It looks like a significant amount of his troops have been blinded by solar brilliance. No idea what made the crossbowmen die and rout, though. The log doesn't show any messages for the dead ones, at least for the handful I checked.Point for Feminie! + 0,25 for the victory0,5 for Ctis
>>586181590Blood veng killed all of the crossbows probably
>>586181897But doesn't that still print a magic resistance roll in the log?
>>586182018You can see it triggering on all of them with the little red lines in the battle. Also some started losing hp to heat from hell
>>586182868Also I blinded everyone by not realising a astral 2 can't use 3 astral gems to cast antimagic hecking awesome.
>>586183006>forget about a little basic rule>blind your entire armyIt truly is a wonderful game
>>586181590>As heralded, it was Feminie who finally saved us from the Tomb Worm menaceTo be honest previous attempts should get credit too, I was down to a quarter of the Wyrms I started with, Feminie would likely not have managed if it hadn't been for the others shaving off a hundred or two at a time in previous battles and was still at 800 something.
>>586183736You under-estimate how many fire elementals and warrior illusions were on the field.
>>586146673Any goat faction.
>>586184503Gonna have to agree with anon. Feminie printed their own army on the field
>goy cuts my reinforcements off in a surprise move>kill half his army on accidenthehehehe big cocks!!!
>>586193937is it me? It probably is me. I don't regret it though
*cracks whip* That's right, meatbag cucks
My fucking stolen moose
Oh boy it is time for graphs.
Map also has this kind of unreachable cave province.
>>586204083Ur is the threat and somehow Rus has infinite research interesting.
>>586204310Three sites though, imagine.
After 100 hours I've never copied any tendie build, if you win using someone else build it comes across as cuckoldry (respectfully)
>>586204425I don't even know what other people do, I just use whatever dumb idea pops into my head.
>>586204425Same
>>586204425same but without the (respectfully)
Sorry Pan, I somehow sent your coral blade to the AI Caleum. You will receive it in two turns now since I have to reforge it. I've sent you some substituent items I had as compensation, which will hit you the next turn.
Being trapped in a perpetual 2v1 cause elphael left immediately really sucks assLook at all the shit this guy summoned to defend his fort.
you put up a good fight machaka, but the augurs foresaw your doom..(luv me star fires)
I got this game because I like CoE5 but I have no fucking idea what’s going on when I’m playing it Anyway I’m a firm believer that El is the Pantokrator
>>586224332If you played CoE5 you already know the best strat in the game--avoid the other guy's doomstack and just keep capturing all his income (provinces instead of villages).
>>586224332Make big army, put mage in army, put gem on mages, army + mage fight other army + mage. End
>>586188456Toasty

>>586232921repost if youre an evil blood mage who eats larvas
Leprosy
Ermor day is here.
>TURN 45 OF THE ARENAFeminie retreated from the arena, but not before getting a free 0,25 points for an attacking mind slime horror.Agartha arrived next and defeated the small PD and a handful of troops that were left behind without suffering losses, for another 0,25.Lemuria attacked with EVEN MORE grand lemurs than last time, and despite taking big losses - it finally worked! The Agarthan troops struggled against the ghost frontline, and they got ground down little by little through sheer evocation spam.Point for Lemuria, +0,25 for one victory!Agartha 0,25Feminie 0,25
We're approaching the end of the LA arena. To celebrate and unwind, before trying out the first multiprovince arena map, I invite you all to the first sudden death arena. There's only one rule: whoever first captures another nation's capital, wins.Starting next week, probably Friday or Saturday.https://hinaserver.net/game/145
>>586243994How close are the capitals to each other?
>>586245246Standard arena map, so all exactly one indie province away from each other.
>>586245378Flyers and stealthers are going to be op, being the only ones that can avoid the arena to get to an enemy capital.Sounds cool
>>586243994What age?
>>586243994time to pick nazca and abuse flying siege strength to break my neighbors walls in 1 turn in the first year
>>586246320Is this finally the game mode where the Solar Eagle is actually a good pick!?
>>586245762MA, for a balanced approach
>>586243994Where's the duel arena?
Merrow soon
>>586250204It was a fucking mess to organize. I thought about doing a simple 12 turns, pretenders only arena, but why no try something different
>>586243347My strategy would have worked a lot better against anyone but Lemuria. Darkness and Army of Shades to lower their Attack, Curse of Stones to put them on a timer, a bunch of buffs, and flaming crossbows for that extra bit of damage. Most of that is pointless gainst undead with spirit sight, lol.
>>586255764Let Lemuria have one nice day. He's suffered enough
>>586252948
>>586252948Merrow soon to be publicly humiliated once more when Illwinter releases the next patch and add gnu mounts to Berytos (in wastelands)
>>586259698good
>>586257272Thank you for this weird fish freg
No Ermor posting on Halloween? Wtf
>>586275312
Wind of Death
There's so many globals ive never seen cast even though ive played mp since dom 4.Has anybody ever cast foul air? Kindly ones?
>>586254441>I thought about doing a simple 12 turns, pretenders only arena,Dunno anon but to me this sounds a lot more interesting to me than a sweaty hellbless rush.
>>586243347Don't forget about rigor mortis. Agartha perfectly counters darkness (ignoring my shadow units get dark power), but he can't resist every tick of rigor mortis so I just auto-won when he couldnt clear the ghost horde fast enough
>>586243994Yeah like the other people said it's gonna be a flier or stealth cunt that wins, I'm kinda interested in the outcome but I wont play cause I dont like those types of nations
>>586255764Dark power shadow soldiers and shade beasts so darkness was not only useless but buffing them kek
>>586275459AAAAAAAAAAAAA
STOP LEAVING YOUR TURN UNFINISHED
>>586281381kindly is fairly common actually, there's just a lot of competition but it can be a nice fuck you to blood nations
Does someone have a list of all province types and their home type? Like Land->Plains/Swamp/Forest etc. Also, what transitions are allowed? Plains to forest, coastal to sea, what else?To create a new type I'm guessing you need a full mod not just a custom map?
>>586299690Idk but you can make wastelands with enough death scale
>Make big army Get raided>Make smaller armiesGets destroyed by big armyHow are you supposed to win this
GHOST SLAVES BUT THEY REBEL AND ENSLAVE HUMANS INSTEAD
Trick them into thinking it's small army but actually it big army. Mindhunt the raiders if theyre not astral nation.
>>586308103Dominions is a game you gotta play dirty. You have assassins? Use them. You have sneaky units? March them into their territory and elf them. Can you convince another nation to step in? Do it.
>>586308103Be the one proactively attacking so they're the one having to adapt to your strategy and mixups.
