What the hell, are there other shader pass settings I need to adjust for better results? Because I knew about parameter adjusting, but this one was strange to me

I've tried it too while 4chan was down and it's pretty clean. Retarded if it runs BotW better since I just beat the game in April this year. Kind of a pain in the ass though since the game doesn't read installed files, does it? You have to use wux and wua and then install from RA I think
Also I can't make a playlist for Wii U either

Jesus dude. Don't ever do that.....

Also, royale requires a PHD in electron physics to understand how to use properly. Plus it needs at minimum a 4K monitor (8K is recommended).
Use something else unless you have freakish knowledge about how CRT's work, otherwise you won't be able to configure it correctly.

Lottes is good, capable of replicating all types of CRT's from consumer sets to PC VGA monitors to broadcast meme monitors like PVMs.
It also works at 1080 and is MUCH simpler to configure.

There's a english translation for Pocket Fighter on the Saturn now. Last year, I thought to myself that would never happen, because there's already the english arcade release, and, if you wanted to play a console version, there's also the PS1 one. Regardless, even less wanted translations are now trivial, thanks to AI. It's a God's gift to us, to be released from the tantrums and drama of the usual translators. No wonder those people hate AI.

Hey guys, I'm trying to get a GBA emulator working on my phone and I'm feeling very old and out of touch with technology. I used to have one on an old phone in the past but I've forgotten how I got it working.
I managed to go to the wiki and download an mGBA for android from the unofficial link and extracted the files but, how do I actually get the files to work as an app in the phone/open it?
Sorry for the boob question, I did go to the wiki and tried to read the faqs but I couldn't find anything specific :(

you don't know how to install the apk? usually you just tap on it from a file manager and allow the install

How is it not? the whole point of emulation is running console games on PC, so it doesn't matter how that is achieved.
>>
>>585284226
The whole point of emulation is to understand how the target hardware operates and to run its software on modern hardware, allowing the software to be experienced by new generations.

You can just self host gits nowadays, there's also Russian/EU github alternatives they can't touch.
Don't forget they got Yuzu team not because of the emulator, but due to them linking to a program and teaching people how to dump keys on their website, which could potentially violate DMCA, but it wasn't judged and they settled. Ryujinx just pussied out after they got to gdkchan, which had awful opsec and anyone who browsed brazilian tech forums could fin his full name and everything else.

Goddamit! This game is not bad, but it's somewhat stressful towards the end. Despite throwing an infinite (literally) number of enemies at you, almost all of the difficulty lies on the strict time limit; it's more like a forced speedrun. Other than that, you get a huge lifebar and is expected to trade blows with the enemy until he falls. Not much room for finesse, but the gameplay is tight and it's fun to level up and become stronger with new weapons.

>set Beam - Horiz Filter to 1.00 (allows for Horiz Sigma customs)
>change Beam - Horiz Sigma to 0.44 (horizontal spread equal to Max Sigma)
>rest left at default
is this as good as it gets for blending spritework together without destroying text or making the whole thing a blurry mess? when I test on a 4K TV through HDMI the results seem pretty good to me, there was also a few things I tried customizing but I wasn't too confident so far
>some combination of raising Beam - Min Sigma and lowering Beam - Spot Power too much feels like it loses too much scanline texturing, said texturing helping a ton on flatter/solid color areas
>Mask - Type 2.00 doesn't seem to blend as strongly as 1.00
>Mask - Sample Mode set to 1.00 seems to remove subtle detail in some areas (I noticed this with Gen's stage in Street Fighter Alpha 2, some of the background light dithering disappears)
>honestly can't tell which Triad Size gets the best results, or otherwise what should you be using at 4K
>>
>>585303023
About masks, purists tweak them so the simulated mask + the sub-pixel layout of your screen = a real crt phosphor grid. They use a decent camera to capture a zoomed-in view of the screen to check if the result is accurate and make adjustments in real time. Each setup requires different values.

If you just want things to look good, regardless of accuracy, then you're free to go your own way. As a rule of thumb, 4K screens have more room for detailed pixel arrangements, so I advise against choosing small sizes for the triads.

I suppose you're using RetroArch, right? Check the folder "presets > crt-royale-fast" and you'll find good examples for a starting point. It's way better than stock royale.

Finished BotW. I was putting off doing the last boss, surprised how easy it was. I had all the best stuff in the game, it was a 100% playthrough, but was still surprised.

Game is good, and it's easy to see why it won so many awards. All the complaints you can throw at it are all purist-tied reasons "it's different" "not muh Zelda".

The shrines are the best part of the game, some of them are shit but most of them are good. The cooking mechanic is shit, but it could've been good if they'd just given you a cookbook where you can store recipes.
The breakable weapons suck, but the real issue is the limited inventory. There's just not that many opportunities to increase it. I left getting the sword for last, so I was struggling with bad inventory through the whole thing. How was I supposed to know. But whatever

The DLC is great too, I was almost gonna skip it. But I'm glad I didn't.

I guess the real question is what the purpose of the list is. DOS FPSs will play way more like a Windows PC fps because you still use a keyboard and mouse. After like 1995 most people played "DOS" games in Windows 95 or 98 under DOS mode anyway.
Also beyond the nitpicking definition the list includes stuff like Wolf 3D: Spear of Destiny and Quake mission packs and Duke 3D which have modern Windows ports.
>>
>>585404187
I just cooked up the list in 20 minutes. Obviously the point is to see which console games can be ported to PC and get mouse & keyboard support, widescreen, etc. Isn't that kinda stupid of a question?
I could've taken out DOS but DOS is basically a console at this point - hell it's literally a console in the historical meaning of the word.

If you're in doubt check a video first but a lot of them has better performance for the heaviest gaems.
For older ones the cool stuff are features, in the end is best to separate a folder throw everything there and test away, a lot of them you can simply use the roms, images that you already have downloaded.

Where's my emubro who also plays Dreamcast on RetroArch? There are good news: Danny did the needful and "claudified" Flycast, creating a new core called ParaLLEl DC. In spite of the name (it has the option to use compute shader graphics), you can use it like the old Flycast (don't even need to bother with ParaLLEl), but fixed:

- Frame pacing is finally perfect;
- Timing issues are much better, with no skips and spikes;
- Flycast's retardation of naming saves with the internal code of the disc instead of the filename is gone.

I just think it's funny that humans have spent the last 30 years trying to recreate the hardware that plays these games, and now that machines can talk to humans, they're like "uhhh bubby, you don't need to recreate the whole console. just write a translation layer and recompile the software"
>>
emulators are very convenient because you open one software and load all the games from .isos, having a bunch of .exe recomps is kinda clunky, someone needs to fix that
also, more than ever people have to make accurate lists of console exclusives and also comparisons between multiplatform games so we can choose which is the best to recomp, for instance all the xbox recomps people are making because they say the games run better on xbox than on ps2
>>

the gamesaar nova 2 lite is pretty nice except for the buttons are too heavy and I think the grips are too fat and it's mildly hurting my wrists somehow. a switch pro controller with the nova's dpad, backpaddles, and built in turbo would easily be the best controller of all time, I wish there was something like that out there.
>>
>>585489961

I'm okay with having a PS2/PS3 emulator and using recomps for Xbox titles.

The grey area is of course Nintendo products. If I only want to play a few games from them, it makes more sense to just get a "port." I suspect they will be the only option for switch 2 emulation when it's remotely feasible anyways. Less work, instant gratification.
>>
>>585484195
Why are you projecting?
Nobody question that the recomp is better because it's using shad's code ahead of time instead of doing it at runtime.
It's both shadPS4 you retard. You have no idea how this work, troon. ai will not make you real woman.

>>
>>585491361

>>
>>585487058
I wish that was how it worked because we would get Switch 2 decomps done already.
But someone has to do at least the initial reverse engineering work first and it has to be people who knows wtf they're doing. But at least ai helps with that, as we're seeing with the PS5 currently. Hopefully Switch 2 soon?

>>585487058
Except all these new recomps are 90% emulator code +10% spit and hacks. They aren't real ports, AI is just turning existing emulators into some kind of framework (the "translation layer") and linking stuff. The only real difference is the static recompilation, which is barely beneficial, most consoles could be interpreted and you wouldn't notice a diference in a modern PC.
Once Switch 2 games are dumped, you won't be able to just ask Claude to recompile them until there's an emulator it can copy paste from. Also the same reason Xbox 360 recomps are kind of shit and have the same issues as Xenia.

get one of the 25ish bucks ones from either 8bitdo or Gamesir. I personally have a Gamesir Nova, hall sticks and gyro and whatever else and it works great, on PC is recognized as a switch pro controller by default (it can cycle through controller presets) so emulators and shit can see it as that and adapt accordingly, and for everything else there's Padforge.
There's a Nova lite (which iirc doesn't have gyro, but comes with a dedicated usb dongle) and a nova 2 (which i suppose it's better? idk) so keep that in mind

For retro games, it's amazing. BUT only if it has the improved d-pad. You need to research the model you're willing to buy beforehand. I know the Ultimate 2C has them, as I own a couple of them.

-Cheap AMD card from ebay
-Windows 7 or 10
-You need a transcoder, vga to component is the easiest coz component TV's are easy to find and the image quality is identical to RGB.

Greenantz makes one (you have to message him on arcadecontrols forums) and so does wakaba video on ebay.
I have an older one that's no longer made, but it still works perfectly.
>>
>>585612385
Just finished that on hardware coz i got a flash cart.
It's not as good as the arcade version (which has different levels and is a completely different game).
There is so much good sega stuff stuck on arcade that never got ported, and it could have been easily ported but they just didn't bother.
Eswat, Shadow Dancer, Moonwalker, Reveng of Death Adder etc

That's easy enough, I've already got some old AMD cards knocking around somewhere and I'm sure at least one of them has a VGA or DVI-I port. I asked about SCART because I already have a CRT with that but should be enough to go on, thanks anon.

Looks like the current PS2 recomp tools don't have a way to unlock framerates like the PS3/4 can do or do 3D interpolation like the GC/WiiU/Xbox/N64 tools.
It kinda piss me off to see the GT4 recomp locked to 60 when you could do some hacks to play it at native 120 on pcsx2 already, I did it myself it was great.
Someone did a reimplementation of GT3, and because it's basically a new engine it supports true unlocked framerates:
https://github.com/matt-pulsipher/GT3-revisited
People did this for Tekken 3 and some of the Wipeout games. But obviously it's more work than repackaging an emulator and call it native.

Seems like the most logical route to take. S2's Horizon is S1's Horizon with a few extras. Why recreate the wheel when it just needs minor changes? The biggest blocker is the graphical stuff but fortunately the sysmodules can be dumped so that will be easier for people to RE. I bet people could get games up and running pretty quickly with rendering disabled.

I'm sick of using ares for snes emulation. The ui is bad and outdated, I have to manually update it and old save states don't work on newer versions of the emulator.

I've switched to mesenCE (and snes9x for certain romhacks). For now it's been fairly enjoyable.
>>
>>585719628
ares is not bad, but it's definitely stunted. Some people sugarcoat it because of a "byuu died for our sins" mentality, and it has been touted for a long time to be the "next big thing", though it never takes off. In reality, it was just the "I want a multisystem emulator, but I dislike RetroArch" option. MesenCE is taking that niche and now ares lives as a memento of St. Byuu.

Decompilation isn't the same as recompilation. And we really aren't, these slopcomps are still just taking emulator code and placing it in a different package.
Most of these slopcomps are broken anyway, and will stop being maintained and disappear in a few months. Nothing will replace a universal approach, created with combined community effort, that will run games no one will even bother to prompt a "recompile this make no mistakes" for.
>>
>>585910140
You'd only think that if you don't understand how any of this works, the nxnative thing running Mario Kart is an emulator, which is basically Ryujinx without the arm recompiler (runs on bare metal) + a NVN2 to Metal layer, modified to support SW2 services.

Before. Since Hiroshi Yamauchi left the helm. However, Iwata was personally appointed by him, and the guy actually did his best to slow down Nintendo's soulless spire; otherwise, I suspect Nintendo could've gone full lame by the end of the GameCube era.

>>

Someone already linked the Eden patch ITT, but don't bother, nothing works properly yet, it's just proof of concept. The bottom-line is that you can somewhat easily adapt Switch 1 emulators to be compatible with Switch 2 games.
As for ROMs, the Switch 2 hack gives you access to the FS module (filesystem), so you can just copy files from the cartridge, aka dump it.

Yes, it is. Although that kind of game is hardly designed for "school boys". Rhythm games in Japan are a bit niche, but with a strong and devoted fanbase. Unlike mainstream games, which has plenty of noobs and a few experts, niche game have way more of the latter, so challenge is tuned to them. There are, however, exceptions to the rule, and some rhythm games do try to appeal to a wider audience.

Well, to start with, I took my copy of the game from my old, old, ooolllddd not really working version of the game and shadps4 and just used it with Lantern's recommended settings and the game runs like butter already. I might even be able to turn these settings up, or turn off frame gen, even with this old ass PC.

Are there mods that work with LanternEngine or are they built in or should I try a different fork now or what?

Also I have save files from a proper PS4, can I decrypt these?

>Are there mods that work with LanternEngine or are they built in or should I try a different fork now or what?
Dunno, i use the fromsoftserve dude "remastered" graphic mod, but that is just a bunch of files you throw on the game folder and overwrite the original ones (make backups).
>>586023601
>Also I have save files from a proper PS4, can I decrypt these?
Probably but i just ended up restarting from scratch because of how much better the gameplay experience was.
>>
>>586021196
yes do that, especially builders 1 cause that one got improved with each release it got (in terms of content and shit, how well it runs depends on the system itself obviously), with the first ones (PS3, Vita) being the worst. Switch 1 is better, but the absolute best is either (unironically) the smartphone version and the steam version (which is just the smartphone version but ported on PC), as it also got features that were added to builders 2 first.
Builders 2 is instead basically the same on every system its on, besides obviously how well it runs.

i mean it's not unlike most other hacked systems save for the switch 1 (which lucked out with the hardware exploit), it's always a cat and mouse game if firmware updates are involved
and even though it's newer, i really doubt switch 2 has better security than the ps5, and that one also keeps getting new exploits every few firmware versions

I recall BigBlueFrontend talking about how recomps are the future. Funny to see that play out much sooner than I anticipated. He's a smart guy. However, even at this breakneck pace they aren't a replacement for emulators that'll agnostically play nearly everything for a platform, but we are reaching a point where "everything that matters" will run natively* or at least something resembling a feature-rich port. Those 360 ones based on Xenia are fucking raunchy, though.

yeah that's the only problem, the torrent isn't being updated
>>
>>586111324
I'm tempted to try the Bellabel expansion. I've heard it was made as a response to people who thought the original Wonder's bosses were way too easy. (Then again, the whole damn game is piss easy, so I'm not sure that makes a difference.)
>>
Is there any special setup to Eglantine? It automatically read my Eden settings but DK Bananza is stuck at the Launching screen

Okay never mind. Splatoon Raiders works, DK doesn't

I'm so happy a proper port exists. I remember a YouTube video from years ago where someone applied a vasoline filter to all the textures, so I'm glad this finally came full circle.

>>
>>586126021
>the rest of the exclusives are all switch 1 games "remastered" for the switch 2
At this point, I'm tempted to have Opus port those "remasters" back to Switch 1. There's no excuse for Bellabel to remain Switch 2 exclusive.
>>
>>586126084
that game probably runs on Eden, I dont think anyone tried it yet, no reason not to
>>
tried a few slopcomps today:
- Last Guardian: looks better/sharper than shad (I think it was still missing some vfx), webm related. Runs just as poorly though, I can barely maintain stable 30, it micro stutters when loading new areas and the in-game inertia doesn't help, it feels so sluggish. Also had a crash after a cutscene but restarting the game fixed it.
- TOTK: much better performance than Eden (+100 fps recomp where I could barely maintain 30 in eden) but had some visual bugs with clouds making other textures glitch out, and shadows look like crap but I noticed BOTW had a similar look in cemu and the solution was to upscale it above your native resolution
- Sin & Punishment: great version, looks amazing in widescreen and native mouse controls feels so smooth, obviously makes the game easier but you can unlock hard mode from the start
- Onimusha Genma: better than xemu, runs in 4:3 full screen whereas xemu had black space, also adds non-tank controls on the left stick like the remasters but dead zones seem weirdly tuned
- King's Field 2: runs great, nice kbm support, with an option to increase enemy turning speed to match mouse speed but enemies are still trivial and easy to cheese

A little surprising still, though, because isn't the GPU quote a bit more advanced, with tensor cores, RT, and other modern features that make it hard to emulate? Or is that all fairly easy to wrap into the native GPU?

In practice HL64 has some jank for sure as it is.

For something slopped together it runs way above par for N64 in its day, and is just some human correction away from something retail-tier.

I think recomp will be useful/more popular amongs system that have very few exclusive. Why bother emulating a whole library where 90% of them are on PC already when just making custom build for those game are faster and easier. We can see that with Forza Horizon 2. It was one of the few Xbox exclusives never porter on PC, no need to bother with a emulator when a custom wrapper do the shit perfectly.
