>i hate software emulation because the latency on modern televisionsi honestly don't notice any latency at all playing on a modern television via software emulation. Are people so bad at video games that they are blaming a non-issue for their lack of skills?
>>750741927Try thishttps://humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime If your score isn't less than 200 than there's latency.
>>750741927You need to have terminal autism to care about shit like this

>>750741927This is what tendies consider peak gameplay?
>>750741927i figured out how to get that key and i did all for nothingstupid pain in ass coins and that p switchall the key did is make you skip a level
>>750743873this measures your reaction time and not latencya
>>750741927At some point you realize these people come with any kind of excuse just to not play videogamesthere's even that comic which I can't find right now, a guy spends ages hacking and tinkering the perfect handheld console, with all the modifications and QoL... Just to leave it on a display gathering dust and spiderwebs
>>750743873197 with my weak hand
>>750744203>this measures your reaction time and not latencyI'm saying that if your score is over 200, you definitely have a latency issue. I know from experience because I recently upgraded my monitor; I get a score of 188 now, as opposed to the 218 I was getting on my old shitty one.
>>750744503no it doesn't if you did this test on a crt with no latency you would still get a score over 200 if your reaction time is badthat's how i know it doesn't test for latency
>>750741927Just copying speedrunners who do notice latency as they obsessively measure time in nm.
>>750744565>if you did this test on a crt with no latency you would still get a score over 200 if your reaction time is badI don't believe you.
High frame rate monitors have lower latency than CRTs. It takes 16ms for a CRT to draw a complete frame. That measures as 8.3ms using standard testing methods. LG OLED TV measures 4ms at 165hz. Modern monitors can go even lower. With runahead you can make games much more responsive than they are with real hardware on a CRT.FPGAs are still emulation.
i'm thankin' its because the majority of old lcd 720 1080 tv's had at least 40-150ms of input latency + slow pixel response times. While any budget 4k now has ~15ms with a game mode. i finished castlevania 4, dkc, shinobi's etc on one they're perfectly playable. skill issue and or a cope for their 2000 dollar pvm and real hardware setups
>>750741927idiot
>>750743873can get 189ms, rough median of 200ms, samsung odyssey g7 with 240hz as my regular rate so not sure if that's just my reflexes, the monitor, system, etc
>>750744859do you drive?
>>750741927When it comes down to it, like 95% of gamers won't notice most lag so long as you put a TV on game mode and the TV isn't resounding shit. There's no ifs or buts to this. It's the 5% that are hypersensitive to the weirdest shit that will instantly be able to tell, however. But most of the time, latency will often be game-focused, such as trying to run the SNES titles in the Mega Man X Legacy Collection which was widely panned for making sharp-playing titles feel like molasses. And the emulation chinkhelds have their own limits like how the AYN Thor got hyped up as a DS/3DS style thing, but the latency on the touch screen is just too much to be really usable in precision or for proper touchscreen-based games. If you're an average gamer this is basically a non-issue for you. It's a step into the autism tiers if you do notice it.
