Was it ever fixed?
The problems were core game design so at most they'll look at the starfield and take lessons on what not to do for starfield 2
I liked Starfield.
yep, it's a good game now
>>750741815impossible to fix really. At best you get a mediocre looter shooter in space. (with mods)
I think it is kind of impossible. Like if you take no man's sky it was theoretically possible to fix because it was barebones. You just add features and stuff into it. Starfield already has a skeleton in place and to fix it you would basically need to demolish it and build it all again. Maybe you can reuse the assets but that is it.
no it's not fixed and it'll never be. because asha cracked the whip on them and told them to stop fucking about and just all hands on elder scrolls 7
I still can't believe this game is real. What was Todd thinking?
>>750742253Its 50% there If you had better game engine, different studio philosophy on what kinda game people want, better talent, maybe an extra studio in some cheaper country and lowered the ambitions a bit it could've been great
Yes it's quite good now, because dopamine goblins can get their fix since the Free Lanes update
The scope was waaaaaaaaaaaaay too big. If it had been just the solar system and had handcrafted planets/moons/asteroids/space stations instead of utterly soulless procgen slop, it might have been incredible. But instead you get a bajillion planets with nothing on them and no reason to explore in your SPACE EXPLORATION GAME.
>>750741815In a way:https://youtu.be/1xRwKdXXp2sStarfield itself? lol, lmao even.
>>750741815Nope. It's no Cyberpunk
>Cyberscam (You)
>>750742253That he is invincible, any slop he produced became even more popular for some reason
>>750741815game was fine, I enjoyed it
>>750741815The problems with Starfield are story-deep. The basic game loop sucks, exploration isn’t rewarding, and there’s no variety or nuance in enemy types. It’s a good tech demo for what’s possible with their archaic game engine, but it’s dog shit as a “game”.
>>750742253He thought Emil had talent. He still does, because he’s retarded, which is why he had to sell his failing company to Microsaar.
>>750745192>The problems with Starfield are story-deepworse, they're lore deep. Imagine introducing a whole universe only to lock yourself in a cage with lore that essentially boils everything down as meaningless and part of an infinite loop. Terrible execution. Not to mention the gameplay/story/npc shortcomings.
>>750742756protip: there's nothing to explore in space irl. most planets are just fucking gas and theres nothing on them. bitch
>>750745496And yet Mass Effect 1 made exploring planets in 2007 more kino than Starfield in 2023.
>>750745248Zenimax had to sell because the fucks like Arkane and Tango couldn't make a profitable game to save their lives, sinking the company's cashWhat the fuck you mean DIshonored 2 sold like such shit despite costing as much as Skyrim. None of Tango's games even made profit since Evil Within 1. Fuck off>But they're goodBut no one bought them anyway. They're award fodders for critics
>>750746095>Tango makes great games *and* they fuck over ZenimaxBased.>Dishonored 2The beginning of the end for Arkane.
Avowed is a better game in basically every way beyond mod support and if you disagree you have bad taste in videogames
>>750746062Starfield has the same kino vistas. And fuck Bioware for abandoning 1's vibes
>>750744707Better than Starflop
>>750746234not really. both are mediocre but starfield has a better engine so it wins.
>>750741815Not by Bethesda.
>>750746234
>>750746362>both are mediocreCyberpunk is good
>>750746518no it isn'tfeel free to post webms to prove me wrong
>>750741815What's wrong with it?
>>750746975#1 would be loading screens#2 would be lack of compelling characters and quests
>>750746975boring, no soul and too many loading screens
>>750741815Does it still have a pronouns selector in character creation and a lack of appealing to the male gaze throughout the content? I'm guessing it does, so no its not fixed and probably won't be.
It's fucked up in a million obvious ways but I played it like 300 hours or something. I have no interest in accurate space travel simulation so that part didn't bother me and it was a deal breaker for a lot of people.
>>750746975Blandest new setting in a long while, loading screens break the ilusion of space in a way TES worlds don't. Even worse writing than your average Emil story. Came out the same year BG3 did.
can i mod it and play as a space slave merchant yet?
>>750745248Emil is the fundemental problem with Bethesda RPGs.His skills as a writer are a joke, and it feels so disconnected from it's setting, like every time too. I can accept the dated gameplay, or the lack of RPG elements like stats and dialogue options but I just cant get over his garbage writing. The only reason Skyrim ended up having a tolerable story was because Bethesda had a team of head-writers which made it impossible for Emil to squeeze out another turd. This dude is such a hack. Quite frankly I'm excited to see the shit stain he ships with TESVI.
>>750747026Visually it is super uneven because of the scale. Some ship interiors are fine but one of my most deflating experiences was climbing a tower in some main city and looking at the vista and its like from a mediocre ps4 game visually.
>>750747192Writing doesn't matter in video games
>>750741815Yeah all it's major issues were fixed with the freelanes update, then we have the seamless landings mod too. With the gameplay overhauls and all the POIs fixed there's really no big issue with the game anymore, they should have released it at this state at launch though but that's bethesda we're talking about.
>>750747246In rpgs where you spend a lot of time talking to npcs, reading, quests involving complex character dynamics and motivations it really does
>>750747139Despite the shitty story and the loading screens, it has a comfy setting and soundtrack. I really wish they didn't fuck it up, it could have been so kino...
>>750741815Idk I haven't played it
>>750745267I felt like they avoided doing too much with the lore because they wanted to expand it later with DLC and future content, right now they can easily implement Aliens if they wanted to since the lore is open to that. Also the newest DLC content like the tracker's alliance has genuinely great writing which I assume is Bethesda testing out their newer writers.
>>750747309>talking to npcs, reading, questswhy do they add this garbage in games? just let me defeat the enemies and get the loot
>>750747246It's not 1993 anymore, Carmack.
>>750747110They added a goth girl to your ship so they did appeal to the male gaze more. Starfield is well worth playing now.
>>750747192Aren't Veilguard writers also working on TES 6? Sounds powerful
>>750747397They hired the last white male writer from Bioware john dombrow who wrote Garrus and Wrex. There is no plural Veilguard writers at Bethesda, they all moved to other developers.
>>750747246Whatever helps you sleep at night, emil. Are you going to have another meltdown on Twitter when everyone calls out the bad main-story in your latest game for the third time?
>>750747479I wrote Fallout 3 which was pretty good. Gimme some slack dude
>>750741815> No quests or factions that hijack and steal ships, no smugglers, no assassins> 90% of named NPCs are immortal> Nobody in your crew ever betrays you, and you can't betray or disagree with themYou can't fix boring writing. The whole game felt like it was designed by their HR department. The language was too inclusive, everyone was too nice, and nothing had any rough edges. Everyone in constellation acts like a hive mind. There's zero conflict, and you can't even make evil decisions. Maybe Todd Howard is washed up now, past his prime. They have all the money in the world, infinite time to work on it, but they can't take any risks.
>>750747313I find the gunplay and upgrades just pleasant and simple enough that I can mindlessly blow through it for hours, same way I feel about pretty much all Bethesda games.
>>750747246I know this is bait, but either a game is gameplay-only and then you can say no writing is needed, or a game has a decent amount of dialogue and quests and then you need good writing or the game suffers for it.
>>750741815It's boring
>>750747395I doubt they added a goth girl, also it wouldn't make sense in the setting.
>>750747246People who think this way about video games have no business being involved with them or even playing them. That includes Carmack despite his early pioneering.
>>750748694It's the aubrey plaza girl in front of the bank
You know, an anime could fix this game.
>>750748694Why wouldnt it make sense? she's in the base game too
>>750748847It'll never get a good anime meaning the game will never be good
>>750747680Al they had to do was let you kill any npc lock you out of questlines then say oh you need to reset the universe to do that content and it would have worked.or you can only side with 1 faction. It still wouldn't be a good story but it would be passable. You fucked up the timeline time to flee to the next one.
>>750747680Skyrim really feels like an edgy game compared to Starfield, even ignoring the blood and decapitations. I only played for 15 hours but almost everyone talked to each other like a coworker other than one guy called Hunter
>>750741815It never needed any fixing. It was, and honestly still is BGS’ cleanest release. You dumbasses suddenly having a problem with loading screens, an understandable trade-off giving the scope and complexity of their games, is an entirely different conversation. Even the writing was a massive upgrade from Fallout 4.
>>750742253It's doesn't even feel like it's even a new game. It's Fallout 4 in space on empty planets with Ship building and no iconography. Shit game should've been canceled a year into development but it's Todd dream game.
>>750749129The point is to create a story focused on optimism and hope, they hid away the grit and darkness in the smaller quests scattered around the universe. Elder Scrolls and Fallout are already rough and gritty, I can understand why they chose to do the opposite for Starfield and have a game focused on human growth and reaching out to the stars.
>>750749140Trvke
>>750749224Well it's a good cope and maybe even true, but I am not overly optimistic for Elder Scrolls 6, even Fallout 4 felt kinda lame compared to Skyrim and Fallout 3, the whole vibe just shifted to less gore, tamer dialogues, cartoony graphics...
>>750748876Because when anon says goth girl I assume its more than just a haircut and black lipstick.
>>750749585She has a lot of snarky voice lines too
>>750742253>What was Todd thinking? He wasnt. He also had basically no involvement with development and most of it was outsourced before just never being playtested.
>>750749763Amazing how everything in your post are complete lies.
>>750742253Bethesda are bad at game design. morrowind was an accident. oblivion got a pass because it was a unique type of game. Skyrim got a pass because there werent any other open world rpgs at the time and people wanted a video game like game of thrones.
>>750746234Maybe. Both shit.
>>750749814Fallout 3 was also good along with Morrowind
