Is Forever Winter worth getting?
>>750741632what kind of game is it
>>750741632no for now I played a lot because I really like the setting and the idea but is insanely janky and the dev process is slow as fuck. i guess it depends if you are ready to play some really kino but junky
>>750742250pve tactical survival horror third-person shooter, inspired by 1980s dystopia movies and animes like Blame! and Ghost in the Shell
>>750742546oh rightthis is on my wishlist toosomething about a late game quest to build a giant woman really spoke to medont know why the reviews are so mixed and i cant readi was also looking at active matterhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/2887580/Active_Matter/duno which to get. forever winter has a slightly bigger sale right now
>>750741632I'd try it if it was offline
>>750741632The game is interesting and I keep gravitating back to try it again and again but I can't stay hooked. You're supposed to "not be the guy" and just stealth through these big warzones, but the actual stealth gameplay is boring and lacks options. Meanwhile going loud gets you a fuck ton of XP and loot even though everything is set up against your favor and the game goes out of its way to punish you for trying it. I think if the movement and controls were more like MGSV or Helldivers it would instantly feel more playable. As it is it's too clunky and feels weird, like you're fighting against the game itself just to even play it.>>750742715You can play offline. You can even mod the game too. I haven't tried either myself but the options are there for it.>>750742657Active Matter looks interesting but the PvP half of it puts me off, I get tired of PvP extraction shooters. It's one of the big reasons I enjoy Forever Winter so much.
>>750742657they both do different things. forever winter is entirely PvE too, while active matter is optional.big difference though is active matter is probably the more complete game (i'm assuming), where as forever winter devs are mostly artists that are very slowly but surely improving the game.
>>750742715I'd say is the only coop pve that is better played alone
>>750742827>the PvP half of it puts me offsamei was looking in the steam discussions and it looks like you can do pve only and even solo with bots
>>750741632I've played it since release, it is still a buggy game but man I love it, it's more of an interactive gallery, the setting and atmosphere is just wow. Devs build the game very slowly but it gets better. I really enjoyed the addition of the Tunnels and Lost Angels map great as well. Overall it is atmospheric kino where you wander around because don't you ever dare to piss of Euruska or even better Europan big ass mech robots. Underground Cemetery just brings me pure anxiety because of this fucking GRABBER dog, this immortal dog runs so fast and instakills you it's just pure terror in those narrow corridors. Also they added an immortal Euruskan dude who is a 50 tonnes of the walking armour who just punches everything near him. Tanks are fine as long as you don't provoke them. I really love the idea that factions can see you, be aware of you but just ignoring because you're just that unimportant, but sometimes their AI decides to make their number one priority for no fucking reasons, especially flying drones. Just let me collect my fucking junk, leave me alone it's not like I can manage more than 1 squad, because these fuckers are augmented soldiers who will whoop your ass. Also I've never met the Eurasian tall women robots who devour their own for recycling. Overall visually this game is ART, visual storytelling is great but mechanically it's very janky also kinda empty. Sure they add new stuff but it's very slow pacing, 2 years already passed and they added like 4 maps
Only if it's on Sale for like 5 bucks.>Art10/10>Gameplay4/10They added stunlock to 50 cal weapons the enemies use and would you believe it, lots of the faction uses those weapons. Also they just gave grenades to the enemy so have fun getting flushed out of cover and stunlocked.Hours of grinding, hunting for construction materials in boxes until you get Anywhere near that Build-A-Robot-Woman quest, 30+ Hours.
>>750745810I've got 38 hours in this game and still haven't even found enough mats for my first base upgrade.
>>750745810so are the gameplay problems just NPC behavioral issues? i can handle jank AI if everything else fun like the shooting and exploration
>>750746575>shootingGunplay has been a consistent problem since the game released. Sights don't line up, hands clip through the guns, takes hours to grind for the ability to make your own ammo.>explorationThis could be enjoyable, sure. The maps look incredible.
