Silent Hill Townfall has sold through 404K copies (70.9% on PS5) this year since launching last month. It’s generated $20.2M. On PlayStation, 42.8% of the revenue came from discs – a high share that’s typical for Japan-centric launches.

Roughly 3.5 years in development. Core team of 30 people in Glasgow, average salary of programmer in Glasgow is 53K USD. So, minimum 5.5M USD on just salaries. Now start doing rough factoring of rent on buildings, Glasgow's corporate tax rate (19-25%) the VAT which this studio would qualify for of 20%, the 15% payroll tax on each employee, the Scottish Income Tax (19-48%), mandatory pension contribution for qualified employees (3% minimum), the Glasgow Business Rates (varies), Water and Waste charges (varies), Mandatory Insurance (varies), regulatory fees and taxes on any contracted work through I35. And since they are just a game studio unlikely they qualify for any tax relief through the UK, but I guess they could fraudulently claim their game was "innovative" software or "technically complex" software even though games and game engines are largely solved problems compared to other software.

Would also need to factor in workstations, furniture, etc, for 30 people. Any server rentals. Bandwidth/internet access fees. All the various retail fees associated with physical storefronts (an account to cover refunds, insurance on physical copies being sent, production of physical copies, etc, etc, etc).

Budget probably wasn't 50 million, but it was probably pretty damn high comparatively. Did it make a profit? Probably. Did it make enough profit? Hard to say, but kind of looking doubtful.
