Is this the first one? I played the first two hours, it was alright. Would be more fun if your new to vidya. Too many pointless checklist-style mechanics though.

it's funny how much better the 2nd game is, if it didn't have a shitty launch it'd be a lot more loved

I've been playing the second one off and on for the past like 3 months. I'm at the part where I have to rescue the other outpost from the Empire scouts, on the desert planet. I get the impression stuff is about to pop off like crazy.
