You're also right in the era of the chinese and russians constantly vibe coding slop mods without testing them, so the workshop and nexus are overrun with low quality mods of dubious functionality. Most of the core annoyances of the game are solved by reliable mods though.

70 hours on casual difficulty. Overprepared for Panthalus and the endgame (all-legendary lv80 team with 4*, max souls and passives). The game started getting boring around the middle of Feybreak. Sunreach/WT I just said fuck it and rushed through it only making sure to capture the alphas for permanent +dmg bonuses. WT was very pretty tho, would stay more if I had a practical reason to do so.Dunno how to feel about the base progression. I had a massive surplus of food from two berry plantations and 1000% reward first expedition while feending 23 base pals in total and could probably feed the full set of 45 if I needed to, dunno why you'd ever need any of those other food options. Likewise I ignored the existence of Soralite/Paloxite and only did the bare minimum with Coralite/Hexolite to get saddles for legendaries and decent armor. Unless I'm stupid you can't automate the latter two without breeding & slaughtering (did 0 breeding), which is very iffy because giving out a few assembling orders and leaving for 15-30 minutes to see everything you needed finished if you've had a good setup is the whole point.I bet all that extra endgame stuff like Ancient Armor and Shield is gonna be a lot more important on Hard which is what I've already started. I like how you have to be a lot more deliberate in combat even in the very beginning - two/three fuckups and you're dead.Overall still GOTY despite how haphazard a lot of its parts are.

Just make sure you've got Reptyro+Reptyro Cryst with you. The hexolite crystals are plentiful in caves and on the northern beach of Feybreak.If you're keen on a more knife's edge playstyle, don't put any points in HP - put them elsewhere. You'll be 2-shot for most of the game. I actually did this my first playthrough, not realizing how important HP was, and I played hard difficulty the first time around too; everything was so deadly, but unironically it was a shitload of fun too.

I hate having to type this up every time, I really ought to save a screenshot of this post afterwards.Basically, pals only eat until they hit a certain threshold of hunger. If a pal drops below that threshold, they'll run over to the food trough and munch until they're over that threshold, but they won't eat until they have a buffer. What this means is that if you're giving them berries to eat, and the hunger threshold for that pal is 50%, they'll eat until they hit 51% then go back to their tasks, whereupon they'll hit 50% very quickly and proceed to go eat again.You're essentially losing a massive amount of their work time to travelling to-and-fro the trough, and the eating animations themselves.ON TOP OF THAT, certain foods increase their work speed stat considerably. Salad is incredibly easy to make, very filling, and gives them a giant work speed buff.Minestroni is the best. I forget what the buff is but I think it's like 30%.

They last about 6 seconds and you should only use them when you've got a team pal doing a base task - like when you summon a handiwork pal from your team to get it to craft something real quick. They also take the slot of food buffs, so don't pop a juice then some Minestroni, as the food will take the slot of the juice.Despite all these disadvantages, they're quite good. I suggest you pop them and see next time you have the opportunity.
