I don't understand why this is the most beloved of the franchise. Half the game is "that part". You've got a gauntlet of disappearing/reappearing blocks, climbing a bunch of ladders with birds dropping eggs on you, instakill lasers where you basically need to have the next screen memorized. The stages and bosses just aren't that fun. The weapons feel useless or awkward besides the metal blade which is overpowered and you would be dumb to use anything else. idk I'm not seeing why this specific game deserves all the worship. Before I beat the first mega man game I had ZERO clue there were SIX of them on the nes, I thought there were just two since I'd only really heard yap about the second game. Yea 5 and 6 are kind of filler titles (I guess X was the focus at that point) but I enjoy 3 and 4 more than 2. I look back more fondly at 3 and 4 and even 1 than 2.

>>750722226I'll just keep thinking it's revered because it's easy then unless you want to put up an actual argument

It’s just the one most people played, so it gets the attention. Everyone who’s actually played them all names 3 and 4 as the best of the NES.
People also keep talking about Ducktales for NES but Ducktales 2 mogs it completely. It came out after SNES got released, though, so nobody played it.
>>750721684It's accessible because it sold a zillion copies, it's easy aside from a couple of trouble spots, and most casual players didn't play it long enough to get to the irredeemable bullshit that is Buebeam Trap. Plus it has really good music and Robot Masters. It just made a really good impression on a lot of people.
2 > 6 > 4 > 5 > 3 > 1
