Did you know Winter Lanterns are actually two enemies in one? The enemy you can see and hit can only do grab attacks, while the enemy that fires Frenzy spears is invisible and sits on top of the Winter Lantern's head. If you use a Shaman Bone Blade on the Winter Lantern it'll try to do grab attacks at nothing, targeting the enemy on its head that it can't reach.
