I couldn't rationalize replacing my 2500k-i5 for the 2600k-i5 that has the hyper-threading support (which the 2500k doesn't have) just to get good fps on Steams Doom 1 + 2 release, a release that sucks ass as its annoying to stack wads together. So I was about to build the beefiest newest pc in this ram crisis just to play software doom on woof/nugget/crispy/dsda/etc (and also a couple generations of console games god willing) when the multi-core NUKE update dropped effectively giving my machine over THREE TIMES the fps.
