IGN China calls Western Games "Cookie Cutter" which is hypnotical when China is coming out with an Anime GTA knockoff Gacha game and made yet another UE5 historical china character action game. But do they have a point? Is western gaming going downhill? Is the rise of the east in game development overblown? Thoughts?

China definitely is. Like so far they have a handful of good games. They have a long way to go before catching up to America and Japan, let alone the historical output of those countries.

Capcom/Japan does a good job of having diverse genres, but China and Korea need to make more than just historical action games/grindslop action rpgs, and start working on horror, fps, rp/dialogue choice focused rpgs like Dragonage and Baldurs Gate, some fighting games, group party games, retro style games, etc.
