There is no Switch 2. Nintendo just got pissy about people cracking the Switch, so they made a mandatory 500$ update which barely upgraded the hardware but at least patched the issue for two years.

Switch 2's backwards compatibility is only possible via a translation/emulation layer they wrote, it's not even technically 100% backwards compatible because of this.

>>750714521They probably had two executables on one disc, one of OG Xbox and the other for Xbox 360. Quite a lot of cross generation Xbox One / Series X S games also had both versions on one disc. It's quite clever, you just keep assets the same for both versions and just compile the executable files to work on both console generations, with a resolution and/or performance boost for next gen version. I wonder why other companies didn't do something similar.
