I hope it makes it easier to make challenging AI enemies in strategy games without just giving them more resources.
It's just not fun fighting an AI in 4x game.
It always comes down to having to avoid the AI and to play defensively until your build order advantage compounds and overcomes their resource advantage.
Hopefully AI will make it easy to just describe the serious strategies and build orders players have found optimal and to have it change AI players so they employ broadly good strategies.

For example maxing science in CIV or maxing production in Endless Legends/Space.

I'm genuinely so hopeful. Every manipulation and creation of digital data has become feasible to anyone.
People glorify the labor of art too much rather than creative taste. With AI, every person can become their own director and producer. Those with the strongest aesthetic taste can use AI like a boss uses his employees to create and modify art. AI will allow us to achieve whatever personal and artistic victory we've been deprived of for so long.

To me, restricted/censored expression is worthless and oppositional to beauty. AI will allow otaku like me to feel victorious as censored, human-restricted expression is replaced with human-directed, human-prdouced, uncensored AI-generated expression.
For example, every video game with black voids, safety shorts, cut off, and invisibility when looking up a character's skirt or butt can be mass uncensored with AI-generated mods produced and directed by humans.

In an AI world, the most important thing will be aesthetic, artistic, and creative sense. In this world, physical magazines may resurge. The magazine editors will be the gatekeepers responsible for filtering digital slop from art that appeals to the magazine's audience.

Realistically, a vastly improved mod scene. I think we’re still far from AI writing coherent fully featured games from the ground up, but I think AI can increasingly become adept at making ambitious mods to existing games feasible.
