/v/ have any thoughts on Old World? I just gotten into playing Civilization (starting with III) and am really enjoying playing through the ancient and middle ages portions of the game, but I find myself losing interest once a game gets into the industrial and modern ages. I lose a sense of immersion playing as the Hittites alongside Babylon and Sumeria and we've unlocked steam and steal technology. Is Old World any good? I hear it's like Civilization, but keeps you in the antiquties, which interests me being more a fan of bronze and iron age cultures.

I've been playing a long form game with a group of friends for a while now and I think it's a good amount of fun.
It's a bit different to Civ though, in that you need to better manage your economy. One city doing well doesn't mean all cities are doing well.
You also need to manage your families and advisors in order to succeed, and actions per turn are limited, so you can't endlessly spit out units and expect to win.
