Telling them to create stories and characters that are more appealing to "chuds" won't work because they don't know how. Their previous writing experience was all slash fiction on AO3 and they were only hired because they had the correct beliefs and/or gender. Even if they spontaneously developed a desire to change they lack the necessary ability. This isn't limited to the grunt workers currently suffering mass layoffs, major roles within these studios are held by people who did not inherit them as a result of merit and management is largely immune to firing. Anyone wanting to pivot to the "chud" audience would have more luck creating entirely new studios without the existing baggage.
