>>750686082basically when you are playing with someone online both of you have to be synched up so you are seeing the same game state. with old delay based netcode if one player falls behind it freezes the game so the other player can catch up. with rollback if one player starts lagging it just assumes that you're going to keep doing what you're currently doing until the connection catches back up. most of the time it will have been right and both players can play as if the lag never happened. in case that the prediction was wrong it rolls the game state back to fix what actually happened during the lag.
