why wasnt just cause 2 more popular than gta?
Back then the most popular thing about that game was that it could run on a toaster. It was very well optimized. Outside of the pc mods it wasn't really that memorable of a game when you look at all the other titles releasing around that time.
>>750683825the map is completely empty
>>750683825It's too much fun but it isn't as grounded that for some reason makes it less approachable. It's a power fantasy ontop of power fantasy but with much worse writing.
Just Cause 2 was a great example of more not always being better. That map is absolutely enormous, which makes getting around it a chore, and so much of it is just nothing. I like some quiet nature areas but miles and miles of it is too much
Because of DA REEPUHZ
I'm sad to say I've 100%'d this game twicethis is only possible on pc because you need a mod patch to fix the spawns of a few items that were uncollectable
>>750683825it was like a knockoff ubisoft game with all the outposts and collectibles, even if it's fun to dick around in
>>750684321Ah yes because the tiny city that has four total buildings you could enter was much more full.
>>750687273what
I'm a simple manI see a giant mountain and I drive a car off of it
>>750683825Because shooting guns and blowing stuff up gets boring incredibly quickly, and that is 100% of the game. I played for exactly one hour and have never played since.
"Gangsta" obsessed, gun obsessed, GTA normalfags would surely hate it. But Rockstar should have unironically have made Medieval Fantasy GTA. Instead of just making the same damn game yet again. But now with poop throwing.
Just Cause 1 was "what if GTA, but an entire country!" and while neat it suffered from some serious quality of life problems that made gameplay agonizingly slow. Getting around anywhere in JC1 is a huge pain in the ass even with the fastest cars and the respawn is always 10+ minutes away. GTA and like games work because even if you die, it's never more than 2 minutes back to the mission select and probably 5 min back to where you were. GTA also tended to have a functional subway so if you really wanted to, you could just wait for a train and press a to skip to destination. Which was particularly useful in GTA SA and GTA IV. Also, when you beat JC1 that's it. There's no more guys to shoot.JC2 improved on many of these problems but getting anywhere was still a pain and all the villages are exactly the same. JC1's villages had more flavor since they were all mexican, JC2 is like the phillipines and not even filipinos want to look at themselves. Vehicle mechanics were great but halfway through the game you've already unlocked everything and are supermanning around trivializing everything. After a point there's really only three vehicles (police jeep, cabover truck, military truck) and you have an automatic rocket launcher. Buying guns from George Bush was funny but they'd never get dirty or racist jokes as GTA often did. It just lacked an edge.BOLO SANTOSI was the only notable character.
>>750683825The island was cool but there was nothing in it.
>>750689195nothing like there was more on gta4/5 maps?
>>750689948You can mess around with companions and do activities etc, you can just shoot endless goons in just cause
op does not remember or care for the story or characters in jc series
>>750683825Who here remembers JC2 multiplayer?
Despite being about blowing things up. They don't actually give you many tools to blow things up with in JC2. Ammo is limited enough that you'd run out when trying to clear large bases. You're forced to dump pistol clips into oil silos to get them to blow up, because there's nowhere to regain explosive ammo. Ropes barely move anything.I think JC3 was way more fun by making you way more powerful, ropes can take down anything, unlimited sticky bombs, can hold way more ammo and bases hold explosives. That way they were able to make it harder by killing you anytime you were flying in open space or standing still.
>>750690726I do. I remember when you wanted to drive with another person in the same care you had to do something wonky like carjack their car but then cancel the animation or something.
>>750683825Barely any plot and larger than life characters to speak of. Just a sandbox with things to blow up
>>750690047they're both sandbox gamesone has better physic, grapple, bigger map, more vehicles, more biomes, weather hazard, things to destroythe other has golf and hooker pickup
>>750691141Gta sa had 200 vehicles in 2004, thats double of what there are in just cause games, I'll just leave it there since just cause is a dead franchise lol
>>750683825WAAAYYYY less interactivity. I mean sure, you get shit like rockets and miniguns and helicopters earlier and that's what this game is about, but shooting and blowing up guys can only go so far and it's not the end all be all when it comes to appealing to normalfags. There's a reason they celebrate that GTA lets you enter random houses and businesses and you can work random bullshit jobs in addition to the crimes and rampages. They also love to jerk off over writing and retarded and over the top, but "grounded" and "human-like" reactions in cutscenes. Also, there's nothing to do once you actually clear out a base and the races in JC are always shit which is a huge deal for a game that has a fuckload of vehicles and giant map. Didn't play 4 though.
>>750683825I 100%'d this game. It was truly phenomenal. I'm probably going to do it again.
the city and town designs of all the games are so boring, repetitive and had no identity, they feel like they were made from generic stock building assets
JC > JC3 > JC2 > we don't talk about 4
