It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

You just turn back until you get a lantern or flashlight or something. I dunno.
It's been like 25 years since I played it.

Actually they can if you twinker with extensions and shit but it don't last too long. I don't think it can run the length of a full zork game without forgetting shit but we are pretty fucking close I'd say.

I thought the models were big enough to not forget a zork game these days.

They aren't but I believe the extra shit like your inventory takes a bunch of secondary space for the LLM to figure out.

Not very. It might be impressive at first, but nothing ever truly happens. There is no risk and no consequence.
The more intelligent and capable they become at understanding prompts, the worse they get at presenting actual danger, because anything adversarial is trained out.
There was a sweet spot around the Claude Sonnet/Opus 3.0 range between intelligence and risk that was the perfect balance for adventure. It is gone now.

I play with gpt sometimes where I act like the narrator and say what's happening and let it decide what to do. It can be kinda funny.

right when I finally decided to see if I could set up ST to tard wrangle a model into DMing a D&D session for me too.
these models are the fitlhiest, whoriest ball licking dick sucking storytellers ever.
but at least I have terrible luck so I pidgeon holed the AI into a tense situation. it was alright.
