>want to play horror game for Halloween
>try Stasis Bone Totem
>get to first boss
>I've got a totem to pick with you
>uninstall
>>
>Animal Use Protocol got stealth-delayed with no real updates
At least the brothers are still alive.
>>

Was gonna buy this game but then it was removed from the bundle I was gonna buy it from.
Worth grabbing from a keysite?
>>
>Play Cayne
>The god of the game's nightmare religion was rebirthed by someone who said HOLY TOLEDO unironically
>Play Stasis
>The god of the game's nightmare religion not only is shown wearing a polo shirt in the ship's cathedral/gift shop but his statue in Washington is wearing the same polo shirt
These games are a trip, man
>>
I loved Stasis but for some reason I never got around to playing Bone Totem, Cayne, or the post apocalyptic robot one
>>
>>750679031
Well, yeah, that's what happens when your god is just human.
I'm glad Hadley survived, though I assume she's now in a horrible situation.
>>
>>750678230
Not.op.but I enjoyed it.
Enough to click this thread I guess.
>>
>>750678230
I loved it, but I have no idea how broke you are, so I can't say if it's worth buying.
>>750679136
Cayne is free and short. "The post apocalyptic robot one" is very different tonally, and is also in an entirely different setting.
>>
>>750678230
it's a fun horror adventure game. really enjoyed the series
>>
>>750675279
Was my indie GOTY of 2023. Some of the best character writing I've ever seen in any game.
Moses is smartest bear.
>>
>>750679136
Don't go into Cayne expecting horror
The writing and character portraits are something else
Bone Totem is good though
>>
>>750679796
Did you also get "this is a porn game" vibes from Cayne? Not just from the blatant pregnancy fetish.
>>
>>750675279
this game stated out really strong and i was hyped when i finally got to see the thing like human flesh tree but then it dropped the ball hard when it completely switched that threat to some bug eating ooga boogas.
felt redicules that a tiny tribe of stoneage canibals would ever be a real threat to all of high scifi society even if they have some special air born disease.
would have prefered if it was just something that turns humans into hive monsters
>>
>>750675279
never played the other games so i was really confused when they showed machines being run by bio engeniered organs.

I've played more amateur dev games than porn games but I understand that venn diagram is mostly a circle
I can't really explain the writing but it's clear that they just had little experience with these kinds of 3D models but wanted to give it a go anyway, and considering that Bone Totem looks pretty good I can forgive it for being a step towards something great
I'd hate for this to be anyone's first impression of the series though, can't imagine what people would think going from this to Bone Totem
>pregnancy fetish
Maybe it's because I have that but I think pregnancy works well for horror, but it's not really utilised all that well here until the end
You'd expect pregnancy to be a physical challenge and vulnerability but Hadley's a fucking action hero, it really is a miracle that Cayne wasn't instantly aborted in some sequences
>>
>>750679136
I'm not into point and click adventure games but am glad I bought Stasis on a whim some Halloweens ago. Well worth the price and effort to beat.
>>
This game is pretentious garbage, no wonder zoomers keep shillposting it.
>>
>>750681686
what's pretentious about it?
>>
>>750675279
A thread about bone totem finally appears on this forsaken hellhole.
>It opens with shitposting.
I wish this place was nuked.
>>
>>750679031
He is not a "god", he is just their founder, he is very human but the insane cult he made has the resources to pull bullshit like "resurrection though cloning".
>>
>>750675279
The cutscenes of this game are too good, at first I thought they were live action.
>>
>>750681934
You'll see how insufferable these threads will get. This kind of overdesigned garbage always attracts armchair spergs.
>>
>>750682410
I'm just saying you'd think his cult would dress him up a little
>>
game is actually good if you like point and click kino
>>
>>750682328
At least the first post (mine) is the best post.
It really is tragic how much worse 4chan has gotten over the last decade.
>>
>>750682524
I still don't understand why he let his cult go so far, from his conversations with the girl they used to "revived" him, he seems to be a decent person.
>>
>>750682736
He was too busy being dead to curtail their behavior, and everything "decent" about him is righteous, homicidal hatred of his cult for being not the exact kind of crazy he wants.
You got unironically bamboozled by psychopathic charisma.
>>
>>750682794
In any case if seems he and the girl went to have a good "mother and son" relationship, by stasis bone totem everyone refer to the girl as "the mother" with massive reverence and you can find a photo of her holding the "resurrected" cult leader.
>>
>>750682960
Her being deified (Mary-ified?) isn't necessarily a good thing.
>>
Does the vhs items you can find in this game has any purpose? In the menu you only have counter for how many you have.
>>
>>750675279
When this game came out, the ingame faces when you were reading recordings were AI made. Later these plus every single stance of AI where replaced but...the AI faces for the lore documents were better...
>>
>>750682736
He's not exactly upset about what happens to Hadley, at least in Cayne
Much like Te'ah he seems to be in the same camp of "I'm going to do what's necessary, even if it's at the expense of everyone else", and when you get enough of those people together in the same room you start having problems
And then all those people are also insane from the Eugenics War and it's more surprising that Malan only smothered him to death
>>750682960
History is written by the winners and cults love twisting facts to make themselves look good, I wouldn't take their word for it
>She loved it!
>>
I wonder how many years in the future bone totem is from cayne, must be at least a few centuries if the insane cayne cult managed to kill all religions but theirs.
>>
>>750682328
Would you say that you have a bone to pick with OP?
>>
>>750683104
I think they might have originally had a gallery of their cover art that got wiped out by the AI scrubbing patch.
But it's possible I'm misremembering.
>>750683231
A ton of the supplemental images in the collectible documents were also AIslop.
>>750683472
IIRC, there's enough context clues to deduce it's been no more than two centuries, but I also can't remember WHY I remember that being the case.
>>
Next game when? I guess is gonna be about the clone of Hope.
>>
>>750683729
Animal Use Protocol, which seems to be in its own setting, is supposed to be "soon", but with no real release date.
They've said they have some ideas about where to go with the next Stasis game, but I don't think they've said anything concrete about whether or not their post-AUP project will be Stasis 4.

>>
>>750684176
Wait, they are the devs of that game? I should have realized it looking at the quality of the cutscenes in the trailer.
>>
>>750684176
I thought it was supposed to come out this year but now the Steam page just says Coming Soon. Did it get delayed?
>>
>>750684292
It was quietly delayed, yes.
>>750684232
Stasis/Cayne/Stasis: Bone Totem were all made by The Brotherhood, two South African brothers. They also made Beautiful Desolation (the postapocalyptic robot game referenced in the thread) and are now making AUP. If they're who you meant by "they".
>>
>>750675279
The characters of this game are some of the best written ones I have seen in a long time. They really make you care for them.
>>
>>750684402
That sucks. I hope they're not having financial trouble.
>>
>>750675279
Playing the original. Unfortunately on console the stick isn't how you move the character. You use the stick like a pointer.

Not a very nice scenario, but I already imagined worse than it explains itself.
>>
>>750685990
Also BT is different. And I'm not going to cut off the hand of a girl that just helped me so I guess it's game over. Didn't last long. And how the fuck were you supposed to know there was a room at the bottom of the screen.
