Miyamoto definitely knows his shit, it just sucks that as game development became heavier, he just distanced himself from that to the point that apparently, he only plays the first 30 minutes of whatever Nintendo develops when testing and would rather focus on movies.

If you look at the rest of the Order of Culture recipient list, Miyamoto could be argued to be less qualified, and I think he would humbly accept that argument as well. Still, his attitudes as a developer rewrote the industry and established Nintendo as a Japanese tech staple, so that has merit.

I think most people do that when they become old managers. You work with something for so long that you get used to the old process, leave the new process to new blood, and just hope that your guidance on the bigger picture can help the new blood continue the business.

Considering his humble beginnings with rhe company, I'd say he did pretty damn well for himself. Very fortunate to be the right man at the right time, he had a vision and was able to make it real time and time again. Now he just gets to do fuck all, I think the guy did well for himself.
