It only makes sense that way because the writers wanted it to make sense that way. That's the problem- we would rather they made Samus look cool and selfless instead. She could have easily been written to save the Feddies, knowingly trapping herself there, but then find out Sylux had some magical teleporting butt plug that they use to go home with instead.
