This, it was supposed to end the story with Zero's ending, where he decides to give himself to science and enter hibernation for the cure for the Sigma Virus to be developed, X5 was going to open the gates to the cyberspace story and the creation of cyber elves, starting with Zero's body being stolen and used by Dr. Weil.
But capcom went full retard and made x6, x7 and x8.
>>
>>750677712
If you pass the RNG check you get to go into the final stages then and there. Sorta similar to defeating High Max in X6 but in X5 you can do it much earlier
Check out the current world record speedrun, it involves RNG manipulation to set it up but you can do it before clearing any stages
https://www.speedrun.com/mmx5/runs/mkw0o3xm
>>
>>750678078
Don't you get cucked out of actually finishing the game without upgrades because of one jump in the first final stage anyway
>>
>>750674981
In ancient times just getting to post the whole combo was victory enough
>>
>>750678147

>>750678078
On a different note, it's so insane to see some clearing the first Sigma stage with such ease, 10 year old me had such insane trouble getting through the lasers and then fighting the black devil. I remember having to ask my older brother to clear it for me, good times.
>>
>>750678290
>>750678292
>>750678402
Just quickly looked up a video, wasn't it this part? I'm not really sure if it's some earlier jump either, I just vaguely recall a jump where you need the spike protection armor or a jump boost kind of early on and the background from the funky virtual spaces.
>>
>>750677961
People assume the X6 zero ending happened an unknown amount of time in the future, which theoretically allows for the other X games to still be canon to the Zero timeline.
>>
>>750679057
Zero series has a whole audio drama of Zero officially sealing himself away and X freaking out over it, revising exactly how the sealing goes, but yeah, canonically that's how it goes. X6 can't even coincide with X7 or 8 if the Zero ending was immediate, so people gotta get their sticks out of their asses about it.
>>
>>750678894
Well I personally don't recall this impossible jump BUT during the speedrun video here >>750678078 the dude playing is using Zero and he's abusing the fact that when Zero gets hit by the Virus 4 times he becomes invincible and that happens just as he gets to this jump section.
So you could be right, but you are also wrong because you can do exactly what this guy did on the video to get past it without any armor or upgrades.

>>
I really do question why, after like 20 different Mega Man games across multiple platforms, they decided this was the point where they needed to have tutorials every 20 seconds for every single mechanic.

Did they really think players wouldn't know to shoot a door obstructing their path without Alia telling them first?
>>
>>750680074
I'm surprised X isn't more of a celebrity, instead he just gets treated like random garbage by most reploids.
>>
>>750680362
They assumed any game could be the first for players and although we were smarter back then some kids really struggle figuring some of that stuff out.
>>
>>750680362
It was what, 2000? Gaming was expanding rapidly even then and suddenly everyone started thinking "What if this is someone's first game in the series???" That's how you got Nintendo's gradual shift into sheer tutorials everywhere like in the Zelda games. It's like Inafune really wondered if people were just gonna log in for X5 and nothing else.
>>
>>750680362
They made concept art of a navigator for the first MMX game so you know it's something they wanted from the start, it was just executed badly like every idea in X5.
>>
>>750680390
His only real talent is nuking niggers and crying about it. A reploid like Gate genuinely is superior.
>>
>>750680475
Funny enough, X5 was my first mega man game and I could barely read, so I just mashed through all the dialogue and figured everything out myself.
I remember the lava section at the start of dino's stage really had me confused for a good while before I got it.
>>
>>750674442
>the RNG is not that bullshit once you have all parts anyway,
The RNG seed on whether or not you'll succeed is determined by when you hit the 'start game' button. Parts do nothing. The guys making TASes for the game found that out really quick.

>>750680362
>I really do question why, after like 20 different Mega Man games across multiple platforms, they decided this was the point where they needed to have tutorials every 20 seconds for every single mechanic.

Not only that, X5 was the first of all the 2D platformers to add ducking. Even Mario, Sonic and Castlevania to name a few already had ducking in their early installments while it took until X5 for Mega Man.
>>
>>750680669
Imagine how differently the X series would be perceived if they implemented the Navigators as early as X1.
>>
>>750682481
X5 doesn't need to be hated that much. It doesn't have much to really OFFER. The levels are too simple and short, and the game is really eager to rush you to the endgame for the slightest bit of luck. I can't hate a game that barely feels like it's there, it's breezier than X4 unless you genuinely try to get everything.

I think it's more that the game's RNG ticks at all times during gameplay, and the RNG is frozen while you're on the title screen, file select, level select and enigma menus. So all you need to do is to end the stage on a correct frame, and you'll be guaranteed to succeed.
The funny consequence of this is that you can watch the demo play during the title screen, and press pause during specific frames, and you'll get it. It's humanly doable, and I've done it myself.

On the other hand, Mega man's buster sometimes blows holes right through the robot masters in the show, and other times not. MMX1's intro screen mentions how X's buster is like, an upgraded revision of the mega buster (mk17 or something?), so there's probably a power gap, but I wouldn't use the cartoon as comparisons.

It would be unironically kino if somebody hacked into the guy's computer, stole the current build, vibeslopped it to completion and released it to the public. Teach the lazy bastard a lesson like all those troonslators that got BTFO after hogging a project for decades without accomplishing anything.

The way that shit is evolving it may even be doable just by providing it with enough gameplay footage from his streams and what not.
>>
Reminder that Vava ain't SHIT without his Ride Armor
>>
>>750685653
Someone nasty enough could slop out a clone fangame with just existing footage. Call it Corrupted and pretend that it's the real thing. That faggot would probably rope over it.

>Classic series (legacy collection 1 & 2)
Emulator or original hardware. You can rip the ROMs from legacy collection 1 if you're so inclined.
MM9 and MM10 you could play from LC2, since they are native ports as far as I know.
>X series (x legacy collection1&2)
Emulator or original hardware. X7 is arguably best played from XLC2, if you're curious to play it.
>Zero and ZX series
You could really go with whatever. The Zero/ZX collection as far as I know a source port, and has some some of the extras in tact (like ereader cards for Zero3), if you want to try those.
>Battle Network series
I think the BN Legacy Collection has enough goodies and extras to warrant playing the games through that, but you can always download patches if you want to go with the emulating originals approach.
>Star Force
Unless you've got a DS lying around, I'd honestly just say grab the collection. Emulating the originals can be a bit of a hassle at times for certain gimmicks, and DS emulation being what it is.

Do note that some of the Mega Man releases on Steam have Enigma DRM. This is because of that naked Chun-li mod fiasco during an online SF6 tournament, which made Capcom double down on usage of DRM, which makes many of their games run like shit.
>>
>>750685934
Considering what happened to the demake, it attract more try hards than anything else
>>
>>750686183
I could just emulate the switch versions of the collections on my ayn odin. I was just playing thru mmz1 but dropped it at z2 BECAUSE OF THAT RETARDED REQUIREMENT OF A RANK FOR UNLOCKING SKILLS.
>>
>>750686248
Sure, there's always just running Switch or whatever ports of these collections. Although, I believe the X legacy collection has terrible input lag on for example (for everything but X7 and X8), which could potentially be made worse by an emulator.
>>
>>750686248
Zero/ZX has a decent collection. The Battle Network and StarForce one are great, especially the StarForce one.
The only collection I'd really avoid is the Classic one. ROMs will be lighter on storage too so just go with that.
>>
>>750685842
Trust me, this guy deserves it.
>>
>>750676909
WELL HOLY GODDAMN
>>
>>750686324
>>750686331
Okidokie then, emulation it is. Good thing i have one of those frontends that allows for dedicated franchise folders so it'll be like having my own game collection
>>
>>750686380
>>750686248
Yeah don't get the X Legacy Collection. Best way to play X7/X8 without mods involved, okay for the PS1 games, abysmal input latency for the SNES titles they never fixed. You'd not only be better emulating the originals, you'd straight up have a better time emulating the X Collection on PS2/Gamecube than the legacy collection shit.
>>
>>750686248
>BECAUSE OF THAT RETARDED REQUIREMENT OF A RANK FOR UNLOCKING SKILLS.
Zero/ZX series is just counter intuitive in general, ZXa outright punishes you for using the pseudoroid forms.
>>
>>750686183
Zero/ZX collection is cool for being able to mod in the remastered soundtrack songs.

The collection on DS is fine too. I played it so much that my L trigger on my DSi is wonky.
>>
>>750686478
>ZXa outright punishes you for using the pseudoroid forms
They just there for puzzles and that's it, made me wonder, on my first playthrough mind you, why the fuck they're even here.
>>
>>750686248
>I was just playing thru mmz1 but dropped it at z2 BECAUSE OF THAT RETARDED REQUIREMENT OF A RANK FOR UNLOCKING SKILLS.
i'll give the zero/zx collection this: save assist is a fucking godsend. so long as you're not being an absolute fucking dingus, it undoes everything after a new checkpoint (grinding included) when you die, and since dying or taking so much damage you could die is the easiest way to tank your ranks in the first three games besides elves, it's almost trivial to keep B rank minimum and earn above that otherwise since it will only save your "best" run.
>>
>>750686562
I think they are a vestige from an early version, some like Chronoforce were basically a X2 weapon (in this case crystal hunter) in a form clothing, which implies that their gimmicks were created first.

Yeah. To sum up go with roms for Classic and X games. Then collection for the next games.
Also don't forget the Legend Games, they're on PS1 with two main games and one spin off.

One last thing: don't force yourself going in any particular order. Play the series that interests you the most first. A lot of us discovered Megaman with the Battle Network games for example.

Yeah it's kind of a DBZ power scale thing. X is the strongest reploid but he can still get fucked over by shit like Mac catching him off guard and capturing him for having too much faith in people kind of a Goku getting felled by a laser gun while in God form thing. To draw even more parallels to DBZ, X gets rage boosts too even when he's half dead and missing an arm. I can see Megaman putting up a fight against some Mavericks but the ones built for war and such like Vile would effortlessly just end him.

Light is constantly upgrading Mega Man. I believe that if Vile showed up in Mega Man's time via some time hole or whatever, Mega Man would survive the first encounter. Light would analyze Vile, get a "Eureka!" moment and all of a sudden upgrade Mega Man to be on par with, if not better than, Vile.

Light and Wily are mega-geniuses, far ahead of literally ANYONE in 21XX. Because they're only ever competing with each other, they improve incrementally. Wily makes better tech, then Light upgrades Mega Man to keep up, then Wily makes better robots to keep up with Mega Man, and this arms race just keeps going and going. If all of a sudden a Reploid from the future showed up a hundred years ahead of the curve, Light and Wily would INSTANTLY adapt.

Most accurate retroarch cores so you can just runahead, gpy sync, and frame delay. You get access to cheats for widescreen for the 3D games. If you want, you can attempt to get widescreen for the SNES with BSNES HD. Apparently Super ZSNES supports Widescreen, but that list is tiny. With Retroarch, you'll potentially get less input lag than native as opposed to the collections that add a lot an won't give you widescreen. Only advantage is official multiplayer for the last two.

I get Command Mission was sorta it but I wish Megaman X had a much slower paced game. All the games feel like a feature length movie which is fine and all but they got these really goated concepts and cool world building and it's all relegated to the background. You barely really get to know X and Zero outside their very autistic mindsets (especially X). I haven't got to ZX or Advent yet but fuck man maybe a tv show whatever happened to the other tv show that wasn't A FIGHTING ROBOT MEGAMAN would've helped.... I notice capcom games in general just LOVE retaining the "status quo" and the only major stuff that happens is always between games or series.

Well, no. Dragon Ball is relatively unique in the level of absurdity you have to accept as a baseline to read/watch it. That series has martial artists that have *simply trained* their abilities to the point that they can destroy entire planets and likewise withstand that level of abuse from their opponents. These countryside hicks are fighting battles that decide the fate of the Earth/the universe at large. It's part of the humor of DB.
With Mega Man and its extended subseries timelines, I would personally assume it's just regular technological progress (in the fields of weaponry and armour) that would theoretically 'obsolete' Classic series Rock when pitted against war machines from later centuries. Like other anons said, Light built X to be superior to his other works in everything; not just the capacity for truly independent thought and learning/growth, but also including materials and weaponry. Yet, his contemporary Maverick enemies often trash-talk him for being an ancient heap of scrap. Of course, X (and Zero) wins anyway because he's Built Different(tm).
