I remember that people were making mods of this somehow. One of them had most of the galaxy taken over by the Borg, and you had to make your way across multiple overtaken systems to do cargo runs and try to find disabled ships to capture and slowly build up a fleet to take everything back with.
I wish I knew where to find that shit now.
