It's a rusty old piece of shit and all the enemies are just boring as fuck chase AI goobers, with all the guns intentionally feeling like shit until like 3/4ths of the way through your first playthrough>BL2Generally the most recommendable. It definitely still shows its age, but it's got a huge leap in enemy design over the first game, and it's the one that really has the meat on the bone in regards to the whole looter shooter conceit of re-running and grinding to get better shit and engage with the mechanics more>TPSAside from the tutorial section at the very beginning of the moon, which is so insufferable that it's filtered millions, it is incredibly solid. The story and dialogue is infinitely more tolerable, the playable characters are some of the best in the franchise, new mechanics like lasers and the hover kits are great, and the level design for actual firefight areas is fantastic. Only real point to knock off is that it's definitely not designed to do NG+ like the rest, which is a core part of the franchise for the more regular fans>BL3Great as an actual shooter, generally more bearable than 2 by virtue of dialogue being boring instead of being obnoxious cringe, but it's way way way way way too easy. The first Borderlands is my favourite. Borderlands 2 has godawful writing, but is a better game on balance. You'd think "FPS Diablo" would be a slam dunk but it's also hard to think of how you'd actually structure and balance it but not be what Borderlands has already done. 3's attempt to make the story into some big expansive universe was the worst thing about it. Like instantly the cracks start appearing and you can't let yourself notice things or else it stops working. I ended up noticing it with Moxxi mostly. She was just some bar whore on Pandora, part of the space western shtick but apparently she slept her way through the galaxy, owns bars on random planets and has connections up the ass and she's still just some bar whore on Pandora? Skill trees are even better than in 3, all vault hunters are strong and viable (C4sh is giga busted though, definitely the Moze/Zane/Salvador of this game). Main story is better written than 3's.
