Finished playing the Greek saga (other than Ascension), and the series lives up to the hype, very fun games, my complaint would be that I died more on the platforming parts than I did at combat, and having the camera be the reason you miss out on treasures is kind of lame, but very fun games, wish we got to see more of GoW Kratos in Sparta like in Ghost of Sparta, in the first game there was a serious lack of bosses and I'm glad the subsequent games fixed that, not interested in playing the Norse saga at the moment, maybe one day I will get to it.

>>750665430Once you get a feel for how the camera flows in a level the secrets it hides are easier to predict. Some are still horseshit, but the game is clever about changing gorgon eye/phoenix feather chests into XP depending on how many you have so that it evens out progression. They do a good job of making basic combat/exploration give you enough tools but rewarding you for clever combos or being truly methodical. The norse games are definitely a much different flavor, I wouldn't jump straight to them. The first one's better than the second but both of them are bloated to all hell and lack the clarity of purpose that the Greek games have. The tone is all over the place, attack magnetization is rampant, the camera is claustrophobic without ever giving the bombastic vistas the series used to be known for. Ironically the best part of those games was the postgame DLC for the second game that was a roguelite mode really delving into the lore of the Greek games and how the arcs compared.

I waited so long to finally get into this series and I played the trilogy back-to-back-to-back and God of War 3 is genuinely one of the greatest games ever made and anyone who doesn't think so can suck my dick. Take your fucking life right after that.
>>750667009One of the things I enjoyed in the main games is how Kratos is all-powerful in 2 and 3 in the first mission and then loses that and you need to get stronger again, it was a fun wah of tying together the game mechanics with the lore, shame they didn't do that in Ghost of Sparta. Yeah, I heard that the Norse games don't have the original creative team, so it being a different experience is to expected, I checked howlongtobeat and to be a completionist takes you more than 40 hours.
>>750665575The sword of Artemis is actually what you are forced to fight against Ares, the devs only changed the model. it's a very good weapon in close quarters too.
>>750668069I honestly didn't use it all that much after first getting it and didn't bother upgrading it.
>>750668381It absolutely mulches close-range groups when you don't have space to disengage and leverage the range of the blades of chaos. Especially in some of the combat challenges in the temple of pandora it's superb.
