Is it me or did vidya just stop creating unique, comfy, memorable locations at a certain point in the pastI can't remember the last time a game had something like pic related
>>750656448they just use unreal/unity assets they download from store. they might reskin or modify slightly, but its cut and paste and only fit in certain modules.
When vidya went mainstream, suddenly the focus was on maximum profit for minimum effortfuck creativity, just do whatever will make the most money
>>750656448just play retro games to solve that issue
>>750656448>it's another "I only play AAA slop" threadlet me guess, you love One Piece
>>750657587If you think a single indie game managed to make a place on the level of Jak and Daxter your standards are ridiculously low
>>750656448google "Hidden Object Games".They can ONLY make comfy locations.
>>750656448
>>750656448Because after ps2 era everyone started to chase le epic realistic graphixx, subhuman normalfaggots like that, so you dont need to think to aesthetic and shit
>>750656448I think part of the problem is that game devs don't put enough effort in on the pencil and paper part of video game design. They instantly start iterating in game engines. The writing and music often seems to be an afterthought. Hell, you're lucky if they actually put any real effort into the gameplay instead of just copying something from another game directly. Half the time they don't even seem to hire talented artists. They probably just hire some random hack that pumps shit out they stole from somewhere else. I guess even that will be over with AI.
The problem is that "oldgoodnewbad" faggots only play the most dogshit of new games instead of anything decent>>750657798try A Hat in Time
>>750659439nice water
>>750656448unironically, dagsion from the new fire emblem is very soulful. it's inspired by carthage and has some rome mixed in and has a lot of cool small period accurate detailst. history minor
>>750656448>unique, comfy, memorable locationspic unrel
>>750660512what games is this? looks like someone recreated the tokyo megaplexx from ssx in steep, o algo
>>750656448Sweet. A water game thread.
>>750660749for me it was swordplayi wish i had a friend to play pvp or dogfight with
>>750660189>A Hat in TimeIt's a good platformer but the levels overwhelmingly feel like a smorgasbord of assets
>>750660820Swordplay was the most unique and evocative with its arena. The only reason why I like basketball more is because I can see the all the custom Miis spectate the game and walk outside the court fence. It made the island feel more dynamic and lived in.
Genuine question, why did beaches and resorts with its calmness phase out of vidya?Lack of general optimism?
>>750661524It's nice but it doesn't really feel like a vidya location
>>750656576This. Even relatively creative or unique stuff ends up still feeling homogenized.
>>750661524As time as gone on I can't decide if I like HoS or B&W more.
It really is hard to imagine a dev coming out today with locations like Kingdom Hearts for example
>>750661434Because it's not mature. Everyone knows maturity is doom and gloom and misery porn. Beaches and resorts are the opposite of that.
